Sizzle Pie

Some of the best gluten free pizza I have ever had. Any place that marries pizza with bacon is a winner in my book. Do yourself a favor and order yourself the Good Luck in Jail pizza.

Cashier was grumpy and used a very condescending and angry tone while talking to me, other customers, and other employees; he seemed like a ticking time bomb ready to go off on people like a psycho. I asked if I could sit in the booths, and the cashier angrily snapped, «Only people ordering table service or from the bar can sit there!!! If you order here, you can’t sit there!» The service was very unprofessional and workers kept throwing pieces of paper from outside the counter area in the trash behind the counter area. The whole environment just felt hostile and negative. I could forgive the poor service and crap environment if the pizza were at least good, but even the pizza sucks balls. Crust tasted like saltine crackers and the toppings were low quality and bland. What a joke of a business; it almost feels like a satire of douchy service that is easily found in Portland. I’d only visit this place to bring people who have been here to showcase how much of a real life joke this place is; so we can be in awe of the horribleness of this place.

Pizza was only okay but late night was clutch and the workers were great fast and friendly. Especially the girl up front– really awesome.

Venue — Really large, can fit all party sizes, has outdoor seating in the back, and looks like it can get you started on your meal quickly even if there’s a long line. Staff is efficient and courteous.
Pizza — Meat Party was savory. Pizza’s are super thin and flimsy. Not really crunchy on the crust. 6 out of 10.

After a Trailblazers game, we stopped by right quick to grab a slice before heading back to the hotel. Having a few too many beers at the game, I needed a slice before passing out, so I was in need of a thin crust pizza slice.
Came by, not too many options to choose from your basic pepperoni, cheese and this one I got, cant remember the name but it had black olives, some mushrooms, and I think Canadian bacon.
The pizza was pretty good for the state I was in, but nothing spectacular. Greasy, cheesy and yummy! It kind of reminds me of Pagliacci in Seattle… Big Mario’s not so much as others have mentioned. Tomato… Tomahhto…we have all different opinions.
Overall, it was a good stop for a slice as I was making my way home. I do like it that they warm up your slice from the oven for that extra melty-​ness. The staff was friendly and nice, pizza prices were about $ 4 which is about what I was expecting.

This place is good. They have a great juke box and lots of drink options. It’s a nice big place and seems to always be packed. Clearly Portland is in need of some good pizza cause this place is killing it. Some of the names for the pizza are a little hokey and too long and clunky to really be «names» but that’s a minor thing. I tend to forget them by the time I get to the counter and just point to the ones I want and grunt like a hungry troll. The vegan pizza is good, I just wish they incorporated more faux meat and they seem to skimp on vegan cheese and sometimes the dough is just meh and undercooked. I think a lot of the recipes are too similar to each other without much variety on the vegan menu. In general, everything feels a little too greasy and fatty, but of course that makes it «taste good» despite a lack of ingredients in the vegan pizza. It would be nice if there was an alternative to the ultra dense caesar vegan dressing for the salads. My slices tend to be soggy in oil and don’t hold their shape.
I have heard that Nice Slice in my hometown of Providence was the inspiration for this chain, unfortunately it doesn’t really compare in quality or simplicity but for as long as I’m living in Portland it’s a good alternative. I miss the BBQ chicken vegan pizza and the buffalo vegan pizza from Nice Slice and they always serve their pizza hot and its much more crispy. Not here, mine is usually luke warm. Still I tend to come here somewhat frequently.

The pizza is so greasy its wet. The bottom of the slices are wet with grease. Beware.
But hey, if you come here you can wait 15 minutes for an overly pretentious hipster to ignore you and then be bad at reheating slices of already made pizza.
Seriously, I get it. You are just working here til you make it into the metal scene or whatever so you don’t give a shit. But the pizza is already made, there is no excuse in taking your sweet time to do something that should take 3 – 5 minutes max. Good luck. You lost my business when you DIDNT say hello.

This is right down the street from the Jupiter Hotel and we were in a hurry for a quick bite. Luckily, we love pizza and this was right here!
It’s a very cool scene, very punk rock with tons of signs. There is a lot of seating so I don’t think it would get too full, they have a bar to the left when you walk in where you can get full service or you can go to the counter and order then sit. You can order draft beers and have a variety of pizzas to choose from. You can go with classic cheese and pepperoni or you can go with something crazy like a vegetarian choice of Drugs Benedict. It has soy bacon and chives with tons of other toppings, pretty good. My +1 ordered the Red Dawn with Pulled Pork and he said it was really good.
Love the merchandise, tons of t-​shirts to choose from but they don’t always have all the sizes. Good pizza, lots to choose from but not crazy delicious where you have to go; not bad if you’re near by.

Sizzle Pie is a great place to hang out with friends and enjoy some traditional, as well as off-​beat, pizza creations. They have a number of locations in the Portland area. On a recent trip to Oregon, my brothers and I checked out their Burnside restaurant. Like many of the eateries in the area, the décor is simple and somewhat industrial, but they do have some pretty cool artwork hanging on the wall and a jukebox in the corner that seemed to be pumping out nothing by Motorhead the entire time we were there. (It turns out Motorhead’s frontman had just passed away earlier in the day.)
Sizzle Pie serves up good old fashioned New York style pizza: huge hand-​tossed, thin-​crust pies topped with a dizzying variety of sauces and toppings. They have an extensive list of different pizzas, broken out into three different categories: Vegan, Vegetarian, and Meat. Some of the names are pretty playful, like the «Vegan Angel of Doom,» the «The Slaughter of the Soil,» and «Wyld Stallyns.» There are just sooooo many choices. And, you can also create your own. Also, if you’re in the mood, they offer breakfast pizza varieties in each of the three categories (though they don’t open until 11am).
We weren’t going to settle on a single pie, but that’s ok — because Sizzle Pie does offer a few of their options by the slice. Perfect! Better yet, they have this crazy combo deal: A slice of pizza and a salad for $ 7. I thought that at that price, the salad was going to be a small side salad served in a bowl. Nope. It was a full entrée size salad. They have four different salad choices. I went with Rabbits, which features some nice fresh greens, onions, hot peppers, and tomatoes, topped with ample amounts of croutons and bacon bits and served with ranch dressing (they also have vegan ranch.) With bacon flavoring in every bite, it could’ve been a meal in itself.
For my slice, I ordered the «Don Caballero,» a no-​nonsense triangle of joy, topped with pepperoni, sausage, onion, and peppers. It hit the spot. The dough was nice and thin, crispy on the outer edges, but soft enough to fold in half and eat properly.
Oh, and they also have a full bar there. Their draft beer selection is a bit limited, but they still have a few decent local craft brews. I went with the Breakside Pilser, a light beer than went perfectly with the meal. Pizza. Salad. Beer. Could there be a more complete meal?
If you’re in the area looking for a cool spot to enjoy some great pizza at a ridiculous price (for the combo), then make your way to Sizzle Pie. You won’t regret it!

It’s average pizza for PDX (but subpar coming from the east coast). Nothing too special about it, but when you go to events, this is often the pizza you’ll be eating.
The pizza and salad deal are ok. The main draw is the late night status, which can be a god sent on those nights.
Good for late night visits.

We ordered 3 whole pies to go on a Friday evening — $ 100 worth of pizza (over-​priced, in my opinion). We waited 45 minutes for them to call my wife’s name when they were ready. Finally, I went to the counter and asked where our pizza was. The guy’s response was, «We have a new guy. Sorry.» The pizzas were done, just sitting there letting their pizza flavors dissipate…
As I started to walk away from the counter, the guy who had finally handed us our pizzas said, «Hey, wait. I said sorry.» My response was, «Okay. You said you were sorry. You want me to tell you it’s okay? Saying sorry doesn’t make it okay.»
I could get past the condescension if the pizza tasted good, but it really didn’t (I’ve loved abusive restaurants all my life, as long as the food made up for it). My wife said the gluten-​free pizza was good. The two other glutinous pizzas were so-​so — the pepperoni was a just-​enough spicy, and I liked that; the crusts tasted like cardboard, which may have had something to do with the pizza being cold. My advice: save a few bucks and get a better pizza at Oasis on SE Hawthorne.
Pizzas were 3 stars, but the service was awful. Our friends who recommended S.P. said the service was sketchy, and they were right. I will not go back, and I would not recommend this establishment.

Wholly smokes Sizzle Pie. You’re not joking! We got the large Heart Attack Man which has steak, bacon and bbq sauce. It’s crazy good! I mean, the crust is nice, crispy bottom and a nice soft crust. Lets just say a large pizza of this caliber between four hungry gamers didn’t last very long! We also ordered a large order of breadsticks. The cool thing about the breadsticks come with marinara sauce, and two of their specialty dips: Vegan Ranch/​Regular Ranch, Creamy Caramelized Onion Spread, Creamy Roasted Red Pepita Spread, Creamy Basil Pesto Cashew Spread, Spicy Aardvark Blended Red Sauce. I really enjoyed the basil pesto, not so much for the caramelized onion one. But between the four of us, I think the marinara was the best. I’m not much of a marinara fan but it was damn good.
I cannot wait for the Capitol Hill location to open up here in Seattle. As much as I love going down to Portland and eating foods that are only there, I’m glad that Sizzle Pie is coming, and closer to me, just like Stumptown.
Unfortunately, I dropped off my boyfriend who picked up the pizza as I circle the block as parking was pretty scarce for a Friday, to be expected of course. My boyfriend said the atmosphere at the restaurant was a cool, divey feel, a kind of place I would love. Next time I’d eat at the restaurant vs. carry out.

We ordered a large Don Caballero, which has pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, and onion, and it was tasty. The peppers could have used a little more cook time as they were still a bit crispier than I would have preferred, but all around it was a pretty solid pizza.
My only complaint would be the pricing (and hence the loss of a star) — $ 26 for a large 18″ and $ 17 for a regular 12″ is pretty steep. We would definitely come back for the quality of the pie, but it is not a place that we could, or would want to, afford regularly at those prices.

Landed in Portland pretty late and by the time we go checked in after midnight not much it left to choose from. They have 12 pizza that you can choose them to reheat by the slice with. You can opt for half slice to try more types!!! The line goes by fairly quickly. ²⁄₃ of the pies are vegan or vegetarian. We got 3 slices of the meat pies with weird names! They were all delicious, couldn’t decide which one was my favorite.

Sizzle Pie canceled our order because they were «too busy». Advice, don’t commit to the service if you can’t commit to the service.
Also, Amazon took out the $ 37.00 instantly but it takes 3 – 5 days to return the funds to our account. Amazon should get a 1 star review as well.

I love me some good pizza so when our tour bus rolled past Sizzle Pie the whole band was down to grab a slice and compare it to our fave pizza joint– The Rainbow in LA.
The vibe of the restaurant is super hipster/​chill with cool posters/​paintings on the walls and obscure yet pleasant music playing in the background. There were about ten pizza varieties on offer, I went for the one called «Another Bad Lieutenant» which was red onion, cheese and sausage. I was super hungry and didn’t realize how huge the slices were so ordered two– BIG MISTAKE! I literally waddled out of that place!
Whether or not it lives up to the Rainbow is hard to say but it’s still pretty fucking good! Definitely check out Sizzle Pie if you want good pizza, super cheap in a rad atmosphere.

Definitely an awesome Portland spot for some late-​night grubbin. There’s just something about pizza that makes it so much better when you eat it late at night.
There isn’t much to say; Sizzle Pie offers sizable slices of cleverly named pizza topped with the best combination of fresh ingredients. My favorites of the night had to be the four horsemen and the napalm breath. The four horsemen because, well, is there such a thing as «too much cheese?» Goat cheese, it’s a pizza topping you need to try. The jalapenos on the napalm breath do offer quite a bit of heat, but it’s nothing unbearable. The description on the menu makes it sound like this thing would just be covered in a mountain of garlic, but no; garlic lovers, you’ll most likely be disappointed. I wouldn’t go as far to say that this is the best pizza I’ve ever had, but it’s definitely better than most.
Like I said, this place is great if you’re looking for a place that’s open late at night. They even offer quite a selection of alcohol in case you weren’t planning on ending your night of drinking here. Seating is ample and the prices are good.

Once upon a sea of dough, the sun sizzled and the pie arose. Thus, the people rejoiced –shredding a continuous tidal wave of cheese on surfboards made of pepperoni.
Notes: Nice raised-​booth seating in bar area. Great bar service. Gnarly pizza-​related prints for sale. Radical décor/​details in general. Damn good/​damn fine pizza.

Considering when we landed we were exhausted and just about ready to crash, this place really was our best bet. We wanted something cheap, nearby, but also good of course. So I said, «Miranda, what about pizza?» And that was it!
Literally a block from our hotel, it was super easy to get to and to find. I ordered a slice of the brocket and a slice of the gold ring (I may be wrong on the names). Miranda got some more veggie things. WHAT CUTE DECOR. Miranda and I area all about the Tumblr looking pizza phase and that’s really what you get here. Lots of quirky designs and décor, we felt like we had fallen into some Tumblr Queen’s paradise. Plus great pizza??? Vegetarian options??? FANTASTIC. Plus it really was cost worthy, 3.50 for a full slice (which are huge, btw) and under $ 2 for a half slice.
The staff was super friendly the entire time and the place was clean. These are things I really appreciate. Sometimes you go to hipstery places and they’re fairly rude, but not here! And man were da boys pretty cute. :)

We stopped on for lunch on a weekday and were very impressed. You order at the front counter and all the pizza options are on display in front of the line. Based on the recommendation of the woman behind the counter, my husband and I both went with the slice and salad for $ 7. There are three salads you can choose from and all of them were above and beyond just your basic salad.
I went with the Police and Thieves pizza (spinach and mushroom) with the Word Salad (red leaf lettuce, red onions, pepitas, tomatoes, pepperocinis, and a pink peppercorn white wine vinaigrette). My husband stuck with the cheese pizza with the Caligula (Caesar) salad. We both also ordered their cider beer that was on tap.
The food came out quickly (5 – 7 minutes) and I was impressed by how large the serving size was. The pizza slice was huge and had great flavor. The salad was also good, but I felt like the flavor combinations were a little overwhelming. Still, I appreciated that it was more than just a simple side salad. The romaine on my husband’s salad was pretty sad looking, but he had no complaints. The beer was pretty good.
This place would make a great lunch or dinner spot. It is really affordable and you get a lot of good food (and drink) for your money.
