Local Portland woman who created these delicious ice cream sandwiches! I love that I can pick them up at New Seasons as well if I don’t feel like dealing with Mississippi.

I love, love, love that this place has gluten free cookies to make their ice cream sandwiches and they don’t charge extra for it! They also have gluten and dairy– free ice cream options.

I love ice cream, and this place really lived up to the hype my friend was talking about. Not to mention what a cute district this shop is in. Just happiness and fun times during a summer night. I got their lavender flavor as a single scoop. Super good — subtle lavender flavor without making the ice cream too sweet. My friend got the apple pie, which was amazing. It tasted exactly like apple pie — with apple chunks mixed into the ice cream. The Rip City Hippie (accurate name) was interesting — a little too much going on in ice cream for my liking, but the mix of berries and granola was creative. This place obviously doesn’t get as much attention as Salt & Straw, but I don’t think it should be ignored! The flavors are creative, and the ice cream is great.

Ice cream sandwich lovers – you have found a frosty gem! The lavender ice cream with vanilla sugar cookie and double chocolate cookie sandwiches were very good – especially on a hot day! Yum!

We have not stopped in since the sale. Sorry we did. The suggested sundae’s are gone, the flavors are less inventive, the service is ordinary. The romance is gone. If us now ordinary and over priced.

Omgoshhhhh this place is amazing. I had a great first impression as the employees were extremely friendly and let me try a few flavors happily. I decided on a scoop of the caramel dark chocolate (with chocolate swirls in it!) and a scoop of cookies and cream. The cookies and cream was my favorite but both were amazing. This is a bold statement but… The best ice cream I have ever had! The texture was so creamy and not too hard or cold where ice cream can hurt your teeth. I’m now obsessed and will be back frequently if my waste line allows it. The only downside was my cone was a little too hard! Not sure it was fresh. But it didn’t take away from my ice cream :)

I about peed myself when I saw this storefront by accident when visit a brewery nearby. We live in Seattle and one of my fav treats from the grocery store are the Ruby Jewel ice cream cookies. The cookies are soft the ice cream tasty. The lemon sugar cookie with lavender ice cream is my fav!
So these soft cookies and delicious ice cream are totally different at the shop! No Bueno! The cookies were crunchy and I swear the caramel salted chocolate ice cream had NO flavor! The mint ice cream was just super overpowering.
How often is the packaged item better than the real thing? Hardly never, but in the case of Ruby Jewel I’ll stick with the grocery freezer section ice cream sammich!

Okay, I have to say, I do like this place more than it’s famed competitor. As a tourist, I’ve only been to each place once, but I really enjoyed Ruby Jewel a lot more.
We happened to go in during a time when there were no other customers. So we got to chat it up with two of the guys that worked there. They were very friendly, and helpful with recommendations. I ended up getting a sundae with cookies & cream (all 3 scoops), chocolate magic shell, pecans, and whipped cream. Very simple, but very delicious.
A+ for customer service and A+ for taste!

Skip the lines and wait at Salt & Straw and check this place out.
The flavors and texture of the ice cream coming out of this joint are on point.
My hubby got a scoop of the espresso and a scoop of the salted caramel with dark chocolate. Those two flavors were so rich and divine. Then on to my ice cream which was a single scoop of brown sugar, sour cream and peach ice cream served in a warm homemade waffle cone.
The service was good and the line moved fast. Oh, did I mention they’re known for their ice cream sandwiches? The kids around us ordered them and they looked really good as well.

Amazing flavors and texture of ice cream!
Really love the caramel with salted dark chocolate (literally, salted dark chocolate ribboned throughout your ice cream fully satisfying the salty sweet cravings), espresso cookies and cream (yes, they went there, espresso combined with cookies and cream!), blueberry lemonade (so much blueberry and dairy free!), and honey lavender (slightly lacking in the lavender, so good for those who normally find the taste overpowering). I could rant about the awesome flavors all day — try for yourself!

This was so much better than my most recent visit to Salt & Straw! The freshly made waffle cone really adds to the ice cream experience! Ruby Jewel is similar in the sense that they make their own unique flavors, and I got to sample a few before ordering:
–Caramel w/​Salted Dark Chocolate: The caramel had good flavor, but the salted dark chocolate was overpowering– skip.
–Oregon Strawberry: Really good strawberry flavor, with a smooth and creamy consistency. I would have ordered this if I was in the mood for a fruit flavored ice cream.
–Apple Pie: It really tasted like apple pie, I think because they mix in actual pieces of pie into the vanilla ice cream. I’m not a huge fan of apple pie, so not my favorite.
–Rip City Hippie (Mix of Different Oregon Berries + Granola): Had good berry flavor but the granola was a bit strange in it.
We ended up with a Coffee Cookies & Cream (Kids Cone, $ 3.50,
) since this was the favorite flavor that we tried. This was a very generous sized scoop for a «kids». The ice cream had good coffee flavor although I wished the cookie pieces were smaller and there were more mixed in. On the other hand, the waffle cone was amazing! The smell is what convinced us to order it, and we loved how crispy the exterior was, although it retained a slight chew– hard to describe accurately, but it was delicious!
Overall, all of the ice cream flavors we tried were really smooth and creamy, and I liked the texture/​consistency a lot. Make sure you order your scoop on a waffle cone! I will definitely be back to try additional flavors the next time I’m back in Portland! Parking for this location can be tough since there are spots for street parking, but this street gets quite busy.

Yummy! There was much eating to be had this afternoon as we were on a food tour, but I’m so glad I made room for Ruby Jewel!
I had some kind of lemon-​honey-​lavendar ice cream sandwich with lemon shortbread cookies… or something to that effect. Anyway, so yummy and in my opinion, worth saving room for after an outing on Mississippi!

Naaaaaaaaaaah, come on now. I had some disappointing ice cream the night before, so I was determined to make it right since my friend had recommended this place. I tried two flavors and decided I didn’t like either enough to get a scoop, so I settled on the local strawberry flavor, thinking, you can’t go wrong with straweberry! Boy was I wrong. SOOOO SWEEEEEEEET. I have a huge sweet tooth and threw out my ice cream the night before for the same reason. I took about four bites and tossed the rest, sadly.
The single scoop is cray cray huge. I was so shocked I asked, «THAT’S THE SINGLE??» which worked out in my favor because my server told me I could get a kiddie scoop. $ 2.50 and much more manageable, but I guess I didn’t manage after all.

Probably the most bomb ice cream i have had around town. I had the ice cream sandwich with strawberry rhubarb ice cream with chocolate chip cookies. The flavors were all on point with the strawberry ice cream, the only thing was the cookie wasnt soft so everytime you take a bite the ice cream spills out like sweet lava that i dont want to touch the floor.

Sweet creamy ice cream sandwiched between two delicious cookies with an amazing shelf life when stuck in the freezer. Yes please!!! I’m one of those weirdos who eats a few bites of ice cream and am totally satisfied. The ice cream sandwiches at Ruby Jewel are perfect for me. I can take a few bites, stick it in the freezer, and milk this treat for days on end.
I also like the fact that they have some basic flavors. Sometimes you just want mint chocolate chip without all the bells and whistles.
You can mix ice cream flavors and cookie types to your heart’s content and if the ice cream sandwich thing isn’t your cup of tea, you can of course get a cone or cup of your favorite flavor. In a sea of artisanal ice cream shops making all sorts of crazy flavors it’s nice to see the good old basics… Count me a fan!

Had the peanut butter krispy crunch (salted with housemade marshmallow fluff & chunks of a housemade chocolate peanut butter crisp for that perfect crunch). I was worried that the combination would be too sweet but it turned out better than expected.
Looks like they like to rotate flavors and come up with different ones monthly. Go check it out!

The flavors weren’t as crazy as I expected, and the ice cream is absurdly sweet, but we still loved what we had: Raspberry Heart Cookie (Almond ice cream with raspberry swirl and shortbread chunks), Mocha Salted Caramel, and Fresh Mint. If you need your lactose/​sugar fix, Ruby Jewel will absolutely do the trick. It’s a cute little shop with some booths and bar seating. Ask for the kids scoop if you just want 1 flavor, it’s still plenty for a grown-​up… even a gluttonous dairy queen like me!

We went here for family outing the ice cream was great!!! we spent $ 20 & we each got ice cream sandwiches… it’s two freshly baked cookies with two scoops of ice cream in the middle it’s enough for two people. it wasn’t an overly sweet and the cookie stayed soft.
customer service was quick… price was a good price.
As far as the location goes its incognito. you might miss it unless you know where it’s at because we passed it twice.
I’ll definitely take the kids here again in the summer my daughter said she would give it 100 stars

Oh Ruby Jewel, how I love thee. You have my favorite flavor, caramel with salted dark chocolate in to go pints for $ 7. SCORE. I can sit at home in my bed eating straight from the carton. And I’m not going to feel one bit of guilt about it. Life’s too short. Eat dessert first.
Pick up some handmade ice cream sandwiches here, too. They are to die for.

We love this place. Ice cream tasted so good especially the salted dark chocolate cobe. One important tip — please get the cone. Also the vanilla flavor was so good. It tasted like an home made ice cream and none of the processed flavors. I also love the service and the patient way they let us try different flavors before deciding on the one u want.
We even got a pint to go. The best part was you can so half n half meaning u get two flavors in a single pint. You can pick pretty much any flavor on the menu and they will pack it and keep it in the freezer till ur ready to leave. This is my favorite ice cream place for now.

This is an excellent ice cream shop. Their flavors are very fresh, small batch crafted, and will leaving you wanting more.
Really friendly customer service and ample tastes offered.
I was in mid afternoon and had no wait, but I would have gladly waited on line for a scoop.
Can’t wait to have more of the delicious ice cream. I am a big fan!
