Description

Specialties

What’s the Scoop? makes artisanal ice cream and toppings. We slowly infuse our cream with real ingredients such as roasted nuts and coffee and hand craft our signature fortune cookie contes, toffees, nut brittles, candied fruits and sauces such as caramel, fudge and marshmallow. Flavors such as Brown Butter Almond Brittle, Peanut Butter Curry and Toasted Almond with Candied Cherries compliment classic flavors like a deep, dark chocolate; a custom blended vanilla, featuring 4 different vanillas; and a very minty mint chunk.

History

Established in 2011.

We started in 2011 selling to hotels and restaurants while working out of the kitchen of Gracies at the Hotel Deluxe. We moved into our current retail store on June 30, 2012.

Meet the Business Owner

Jodie O.

Business Owner

If anyone was ever born to lift a spoon to your face and say, «try this!» it’s Jodie Ostrovsky. Packed with personality, this pint-sized ice cream maker is blending her business background with her passion for bold flavors, to reengineer the ice cream experience.

Jodie’s path to ice cream excellence began while doing crunches at the gym. Her serendipitous sit-ups next to chef Mark Hosack from Gracie’s led to a conversation about her new business idea, and an opportunity to practice her ice cream making skills in a professional chef’s kitchen.

Her evolution to the food business started with an International Finance and Marketing degree from the University of Miami. Jodie built a career as a researcher for the TED conference and as an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. Now, as co-owner and ice cream maker at What’s the Scoop?, she may tell you her to-do list has expanded, but her most important work is still her role as a mother to son Alex, 16, and daughter, Dagny, 13.
