ATMOSPHERE:
Music is usually pretty good (none of that classic rock that tends to dominate Portland bars). They have sports on TV, which I hate, but at least the volume is off. Slightly cluttered, but I can see they make an effort, just needs a little more to keep it neat and tidy. I love the fact that all seating is on stools, at a bar or high tables or window counter. This place is kinda small, and tables would feel weird when it’s crowded. You know, standing patrons hovering over your low table is awkward. Lighting above the bar is nice. Very welcoming to those of us who read print on paper.
SERVICE:
Pretty good. Never had a problem with any of the staff here.
FOOD:
Bring your own.
BEER:
Good selection, usually something for everybody. Lots of taps. Bottle selection is small, but they usually have something I want to try.
PRESENTATION:
Glassware is style-​appropriate.
PRICE/​VALUE:
No opinion, which probably means they’re where they need to be.
RESTROOMS:
Just one. No complaints, gets the job done, not great but not disgusting.
OVERALL: One of my fave places for beer in Portland, but honestly that’s partly due to location. Could be 3 stars on another day, but I’m feeling generous.

This place is amazing! The selection on tap and in the cooler is among the best I have ever seen. Some super sought after beer at crazy good prices. Been in twice on this trip and have been served by both Jason and Drew who are incredibly knowledgable and friendly. Loved getting so much information about what I was drinking and also having them pick beers based on my taste. They nailed it every time! Do yourself a favor and check this place out for a couple pours. A beer nerd’s paradise.

Tin Bucket offers 40 beers on rotating taps, and an even bigger selection of bottles with some really nice rarities. The bartenders are total connoisseurs and helped steer me to several selections that blew my mind. Always something new to try for adventurous imbibers.

A bunch of beer snobs that opened up what is considered by many to be the best bottle shop in PDX. Beer snobs? Yes. Actual snobs? Absolutely not. It is refreshing to walk into a business owned by down to earth, cool-​ass people who give a lick about their product and what the customers want.
I’m a whiskey girl by birthright, but I have a secret passion for hard ciders. Guess who else does? Tin Bucket. Previously, if I was searching for hard to find brews (gifts for my beermonger friends), I’d have to drive waaaaaaay into SE to hit up Belmont Station. Which is also a great shop, but TB is closer to me and honestly, WHO CAN RESIST the pressure filled growler option?!
C’MON. Get out of here with that kind of perfection.
Did I mention the space is impeccably clean and very feng shui, in case you want to enjoy a beverage there? I just did.

I’ve been getting the taster trays because I’m an untappd’er. They change the rotation frequently.
Oh and the masala pop? So good. Get it at least once. Sometimes there is a chip mixed in and it’s like winning the lottery.
They don’t serve food (other than masala pop) but you can bring food in! Awesome! I recommend bringing in some quesabrosa (food truck) from down by treehouse or life of pie (so good!).
Also the staff is so nice and super into their beers.

Get your growler filled or have a pint, order some food from nearby (no food there) or just play a game with some friends. There are a few TVs if you like watching sports too. There’s a HUGE selection of bottles and taps. Not a lot of parking nearby (validated) and a few bike racks. Park in the nearby neighbor so you don’t have to pay ;-)

Your average bottle shop. We came here for a pint many nights back and they refused to serve us at 9:30, then served one of their friends after we bought beer to go. Not a big deal but that’s kind of a bummer, you know?
I prefer the prices and dope selection at the corner store just south of here at Fremont & Williams.

Great addition to the Williams area with a nice, extensive beer selection. As others have mentioned, the corkage fee is a bit ridiculous and should be done away with. Aside from that, I’ve sampled a lot of the beers and they have some of my favorites on tap, including Tank 7 from Boulevard, and Rodenbach Grand Cru which is a solid sour.
I like the vibe of the place and that they have some outdoor seating available, and the staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely a great place to stop in if you are out on Williams or want to grab a pint or a growler to go.

The draft selection is very good. There’s also a large selection of cans and bottles but there is a corkage fee that seems kind of ridiculous to me. Like another reviewer mentioned, it’s a bit absurd to charge patrons a corkage fee on a bottle that is both purchased and consumed at this place. Luckily the draft selection is extensive enough to find something you like if you’re stopping in for a pint. But that bit about the corkage fee needs to be mentioned.
All that being said, this place is great for getting beer to take with you. I’ve filled many a growler here. The staff is always helpful and polite. They have good input on what beers you may enjoy based on your taste, and are always willing to let you sample a beer before committing to it.
The last time I was there tho, i had a beer that was listed as a 10% bourbon oatmeal stout on their tv menu, but when i checked into it on untappd, it said it was a 7.5% milk stout. The taste definitely matched that of a milk stout. Idk where the disconnect was but i wish i hadn’t ordered that

Went in at 9pm on a Thursday for a tasting flight. I ordered 6 beers at $ 2 each for a total of $ 12. A few minutes later I was told that 3 of my 6 selections were out. The staff were very knowledgeable about suggesting alternatives but it was still disappointing that three of the beers were a no-​go.
The beers themselves were interesting, but none were as home run for me.

Corkage fee. Are you kidding me? Charging an extra dollar per bottle or can that you intend to drink on premises is absurd. If I brought my own beer from home, sure. That makes sense. But I bought this from you, and now you want to charge me extra to drink it there. Forget that.
My advice? Go somewhere else. There are other establishments who do growler fills, have a great tap list, and a wide selection of bottles and cans. Beermongers and Imperial Taproom on SE Division come to mind. They both have better selections, comparable (or better) prices, and neither one of them charges you extra to enjoy the beer you just bought from them on premises.

Straight up beer (and some cider) bar. You can taste, sip and fill up your growler. Very casual table tops with a couple screens for sports. Definitely a place to stop by and hang on a sunny afternoon or evening drink.

Great experience here and I am so glad I stopped in! Just walked by and thought I would check it out. The amazing number of taps I could see through the window locked me right in. They have 40 taps and they always dedicate 4 of them to be gluten free. Mostly beer with a few ciders and a mead when i came in today. They do 32 and 64oz growler fills. All are pressure filled to decrease oxygen. They can keep good for months!
I am really into ciders lately and so that was my choice for tonight. I had the nectar creek hibiscus session mead to start. I have never had a mead I liked but I thought I would try a taste. I loved it! The bartender said it was made with hibiscus and plum. It was amazing. I got a full glass and enjoyed every sip. Next up was the hard apple cider from square mile cider company. This was a real treat as well. Low on sugar content but seemed to have a strong apple punch at the end. Very good.
They do not have their own food but you can bring anything in that you want. Kenny and zuke’s is close by as well as life of pie.
This place has a huge fridge full of beer and cider to go. They have two TV sets for sports.
This place is picky and they do it right! Check them out next time you are on Williams!

I’d been wanting to try this place out for awhile now. I found myself in the neighborhood and thought I’d belly up and try a pint.
The selection of beer was featured on the electronic screens-​pretty easy to read. The bartender was willing to point out some of his favorites and pour tasters.
The natural sunlight coming in was superb, almost blinding.
There weren’t many customers-​but they varied from hipster type, bicyclists, to couple older dudes with cute travel stories.
They have a nice cooler of beer for sale. It’s not too vast or overwhelming but some great, rare beers.
The bartender, Drew, was very hospitable and offered me additional samples, just when I was thinking of scooting out. So, I obliged by having a 2^nd pint. Great Service.
I had the Breakside Autumn Gold IPA (sessionable style at 4.5%) and the Migration Glisan Street Dry Hop, nicely hopped beer, very impressed.
They offer happy hour now. 3 – 6, $ 1 off pints. They encourage you to bring in your own food — life of pie pizza down the block is getting great reviews!

Super neat growler filling system! I’ve been here twice so far and they have had great beers on tap both times. I drink enough beer that when I go out for beer, I want to try something new. Tin Bucket never disappoints (so far anyway).
I’ve also discovered that you can get food to go from Cha Cha Cha and or Kenny and Zukes across the street if you want to take your freshly filled growler home right away.
If they had food, I would probably stop in more often than I should, but for now, I am happy to find a place that I can get a quick and easy growler fill at.

Portland has quite a few beer bottle shops and tap houses. Not enough to make the city completely saturated yet, but enough so that simply opening a shop with 30+ taps or stocking a few hundred different kinds of bottles isn’t enough to really impress folks around her. Gee, how spoiled we are, right?
Well Tin Bucket has really kicked (god I want to make a «kicked the bucket» joke so bad, but I won’t) things up a notch. This is a small bottle shop and tap house that specializes in growler fills. Specifically growler fills via a counter-​pressure growler filler. This device fills up growlers via a CO2 pressurized system and leaves a CO2 cap on the growler to help maintain freshness. So you can fill up a growler and know that you don’t have to drink it pretty much immediately. It also fills in a manner than minimizes agitation, to keep from spending many of the good qualities of the beer via excessive head on a growler fill. Essentially, it’s growler fills, geek-​style. But that’s good for the beer drinking masses.
A group of us rolled through on a Sunday and took over the large table in the center of the shop, ordering pints from the extensive digital list and partaking of bottles for drinking in. The beer list for tap is good, and they even have a few ciders on tap. The bottle list has a decent selection of ciders as well. The space, as far as drinking in, is pretty simple and spartan — probably not a place I’d drive across town for, but I’d definitely make the trip to fill up growlers from this neato system.
This is a great addition to the already flourishing beer scene in PDX.

The Tin Bucket beer and bottle shop stands tall and offers something new to the #1 Beer City in America, a counter pressure bottle filler.
The counter pressure growler filler is the main draw here. Our helpful beertender said it was the only growler filling station of its kind in Portland. The benefits of counter pressure filling include no foaming filling and freshly bottled beer that will keep in the beer for months until opened. When I did twist open my growler, it let out a little «pffft» like a brand new bottle of beer. Filling prices vary from beer-​to-​beer. I opted for Breakside Brewing’s Aztec Ale (9.5% ABV! with a hint of heat with chocolaty notes). A 64 oz. Fill was $ 16. This was a bargain to me since when I got home the beer was so fresh thanks again to the counter pressure filling system.
The Tin Bucket offers a deliciously daunting THIRTY-​SIX beers on tap plus 4 ciders. Pints range from $ 4-​$ 7. They also have 4 fridges of bottled beers and cider. I also spotted some Abita Turbodog (I Love NOLA!)
With an awesome array of beers and the futuristic fancy counter pressure filler, Tin Bucket rises to the top of Portland Bottle shops.
