Abraham Fixes Bikes

After trying out a number of bike shops in town, I’ve settled on Abraham Fixes Bikes as my repair shop of choice. The primary reason for this is the stellar customer service.
On multiple occasions, I’ve brought my bike in for service and gotten extra advice. The advice was meant to educate, not to sell me anything.
For example, when I came to get help with a recurring flat tire, they pointed out that my fenders had such little clearance that they were rubbing against my wheel rims. Instead of trying to sell me new ones with better mounting hardware, they offered to cut and adjust my current fenders to have more clearance. It was a clever (and free) solution to a problem that they didn’t have to point out.
On another occasion, I came in for a semi-​annual tune-​up. Once it was complete, they offered to replace my adjustable stem with a fixed one. I hadn’t noticed any issues with my current one, but they pointed out that it could slip over time and wasn’t as sturdy. They gave me a fixed one (that matched the current angle of my adjustable) for free, and installed it, also for free.
Excellent service, convenient location, and reasonable prices make this my go-​to shop.

Abraham is a good man. Not only does he know his bikes, but he knows himself and his customers. Sweet as pie. NOT a dooshy bike mechanic. Leave your bike mechanicing to Abraham… he fixes them!

Lovely bike shop with a good selection of parts, and a very helpful owner/​operator.
He’s not a miracle worker, so if you come in during a sunny weekend day he’s likely to be backed up with existing work orders, but if he has time he’s happy to do while-​you-​wait work.
Prices are honest, work is good, location is convenient. Next time you’re headed up Williams and your bike is making a noise or one of your pedals snapped off, stop in and get fixed up ASAP.

I work a few blocks from here and one day had a flat that I did not feel like fixing myself. Very friendly person who was quick with the repair and was able to tell me about a mistake that a different bike shop by my house had made and suggested that I have that bike shop correct the problem rather than me paying him to fix it a second time. I’ve suggested this shop to coworkers who also have talked highly of this little bike shop and the experiences they had. Glad to have it near my work!

Just plain rude.
Walked in to get air AND a quote/​inquiry on replacing tires and rims. Ahem, a potential customer looking to do work on my bike.
The shop DOG was the first to greet me by licking up and down all over my legs and then clawing up my legs on bare skin. I was sporting and patted him on the head and used a cute dog voice, even though my skin scratches easily. The guy sitting closest to me behind the counter didn’t move or look up. The other guy working in back came out to help me.
As he filled my tire and I was asking about replacing my tires, the dog would not leave me alone and kept licking and pawing, I said «Ok enough» expecting the owner (s) to be respectful of a customer and my personal space. NOPE. The guy behind the counter who was too cool to help, engage or greet me despite noone else being in the shop immediately dismisses me with a snotty tone «YOU can take the bike outside. The DOG is part of our shop.»
Seriously? I care for animals and there is a time and place. I was good natured to begin with but there is a line that must be drawn while I am trying to actually conduct business and potentially buy from your shop.
Another pompous Portland experience. Dick moves. Customer service on the whole is lacking in this town big time compared to my other city experiences…

Knowledgable and nice. Enjoy going to see them. Small shop. Cash or check only. I’ll go out of my way to write a check for them :)

High quality work, good prices, and a nice attitude. Getting work done on my bike was so easy here. The shifting on my bike was extremely frustrating and after bringing it here, it’s been smooth like butter. I also got my wheels trued because one of my born and raised in Portland friends said it’s the only place in Portland he trusts to get his wheels trued. I went on a four day bike touring trip after and loved the way my bike ran. I’ll definitely be back.

I went here, newly returned to Portland with a vintage bike that needed a tune-​up/​overhaul in a fair way. The staff was great but in the last year I have not stopped having issues with the bike after getting it back. Brake issues, the fender was wonky from the beginning and has been consistently an issue, handlebar taps fell off quickly, gear shifters broke; none of which would be too big a deal, all being small fixes overall, if it didn’t seem like I paid an inordinate amount of money to have to just go to another bike shop to get all my problems solved.
I must say that I didn’t know what was usual at the time, pricing or wear-​wise, maybe I should have gone back and they would have responded to my bike, but even so, I paid a lot and didn’t seem to get my money’s worth as far as bike trouble was concerned.

Super fast and not pretentious at all. Nothing but positive things to say. Better price than most other shops around.

Friendly, small operation. Prices are good as is the service. Definitely recommend finding this place. Cash and check only.

He replaced the brake pads and trued the wheel on my old 60’s Schwinn cruiser, Princess Leigh Cherie. I couldn’t be happier, now my princess and I are able to travel her kingdom in style.

Best bike shop in Portland. Great customer service and great work. I gushed to my roommates about my experience and will gush to anyone with a bike or thinking about getting a bicycle. Remember to bring cash :)

it was an emergency, we needed a tube for a bike and was in a time crunch. we arrived a little early from opening time, but the lady working there opened the door and helped us out anyway.
we were in and out of there in 5 minutes. the high rating is for the terrific customer service!

I needed bike servicing and repair and am a casual bike commuter.
Jenn explained everything clearly and without attitude. It was a pleasure doing business.
And now my bike is spotless and works great now.

Abraham is my bike guy. I’m commute by bike, and his shop is on my way home. Today, he replaced my tire on the spot. He tuned up my bike this Spring and it was like a new sports car. I’ll be back again many times!

There’s just no where else in this town like Abraham Fixes. High quality, thorough and dependable bike service. Quite possibly the most affordable bike shop to boot. Once you go to Abraham, you’ll never go anywhere else again.

Man this guy is really great. I heard good things and I’ve seen him on the street helping other people out of his shop – so I had to give him a try.
I was not disappointed.
He is an adorable and kind person who is eager to help and easy to chat with. And his prices are WAY reasonable.
If you aren’t in the bike scene but still love your bike and want it (and you) to be treated nicely – go see Abraham!
…Also, just as an aside, I made this mistake myself, it’s not a Fixed Gear Bike shop. :)

Abraham Fixes Bikes is the greatest bike shop I have ever been to.
I bought a used bike and quickly had it tuned up. Abraham is a truly fair and kind bike mechanic. If you want to be treated nicely and get your bike going this is where you go. Perfectly located on Williams the main bike street in N. Portland and cross street of Fremont. Enjoy your bike ride.
