We offer a complete and diverse schedule that is welcoming to new students, inspiring to current ones and challenging to the more experienced. Our focus is on the practice of yoga and providing a place to learn, relax and enjoy.

We specialize in Vinyasa Yoga, Yoga Basics, Gentle & Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yoga for Kids, Pilates, FIT, Yoga for Athletes, early morning Yoga & more.

Our practice space features high ceilings, natural lighting, and a color palette that is both spacious and vibrant. We hope you to see you begin or grow your practice at Sellwood Yoga.

History

Established in 2009.

Sellwood Yoga is the sister studio of Bernal Yoga in San Francisco, CA. Based in Portland, Oregon, Align Integrative Wellness, LLC is a family owned business specializing in community based yoga and wellness studios.

Align Integrative Wellness, LLC studios are located at Sellwood Yoga in Portland, OR and Bernal Yoga in San Francisco, CA. Brother and sister, Bill and Savonn Wyland own and oversee the growth, vision and direction of the studios.

Great space with a lovely community. They also offer non-​yoga classes at their Align studio down the street so you can vary your exercise and get a little cardio… all included for the same rates. The monthly pass is a good deal.

I am so glad to have found *my* new studio! After moving from the westside of town, I was nervous about finding a studio that I would connect with — and after trying out several classes over the last week and half, I think I’ve found it. I’ve tried the Vinyasa Flow (a great flow class — you can modify up or down depending on where you are at in your practice), Gentle Yoga (mostly older ladies, but I didn’t feel too out of place and my body definitely thanked me after!), and Mellow/​Restorative Yoga (a great way to ease into yoga practice after a *cough* 6 – 8 month break and an opportunity to bring deep stretches into those problem areas like the hips and lower back). I definitely recommend signing up online first, as most of the classes I’ve attended were filled to capacity. Beautiful, cozy, space — sometimes street parking is a bit of a challenge, and the «lobby/​hallway» can get a bit tight, but the perfect spot!

I absolutely love classes here. Perfect balance of strength and flexibility. They always play wonderful music during class & there’s a beautiful serene courtyard to look out into during class. I also like that the little cubby area for personal stuff is directly connected to the yoga studio rather than out in the lobby so I know my stuff is always safe. Street parking but I’ve never had a problem finding a spot!

Beautiful, peaceful space. Enjoyed the classes I attended. I was definitely the youngest person in class every time I went. The demographic of the studio seemed to make the classes more of a gentle flow than a challenging flow.

I’ve been coming to Sellwood Yoga for 1.5 years and couldn’t be happier. There is a wide variety of classes and approaches, enough that you can find something to suit your needs, no matter how you are feeling. The instructors are varied in their approach/​focus so you are constantly learning something new about your body or to apply to your practice. They are also good about providing alternative positions to deal with any nagging injuries if you let them know.

This is my happy place! I started going to Sellwood Yoga because I had joined fitmob. I absolutely love this place. Its a beautiful studio and I love it when the back doors are open to the pretty little garden in the back and the 6 am yoga you get to watch the sunrise. Also really like the instructors. They are funny, soothing and helpful. Carey is really great at walking around the room and helping with positions.

For my third ever official yoga class I stopped by Sellwood Yoga several weeks ago and took a «Hatha» style class from Julie. She was a great instructor and was very accommodating of the wide range of student experience levels, from avid practitioners to newbies like me, in the class.
The whole affair was easy and stress-​free (which is kind of the point, right?) and the class was well-​paced and challenging without being overwhelming or intimidating. I’m not in Sellwood often but when I am I will be certain to try another class. Likewise, Teacher Julie instructs at several other studios around Portland (People’s Yoga, I believe she said…) and I may seek her out closer to home.
Anyway, it was a great class and may have even put a dent in my yoga-​skepticism. I felt better, more relaxed, and less tense after just one visit. One can imagine how effective yoga can be after years of practice.

Sellwood Yoga is a very friendly and beautiful (though small) studio. Classes can be a bit cramped, but the teachers are very nice. Our favorite is Rosey Wyland (who, by the way, is also a therapist). And, no wonder: her classes are warmly supportive and attentive, and she seems to really get the idea of what it means to be a beginner.
What I don’t understand is why they call the Saturday class a yoga basics class. I know I’m not an athlete, but the class is so darned hard and fast without clarity on which position was which — really a yoga flow class — that it seems like a misnomer to suggest it’s for those needing guidance on yoga poses.
Both times I’ve gone, they did not offer any modifications when I had to stop due to wrist pain. I wish they would just call it what it is: non-​basic yoga for sturdy people. ;)
Whatever the case, Rosey’s class really is a beginner’s class (or for those, like me) who have an injury. (Speaking of which, did you know that the main injury people, esp. women get, from yoga is tendonitis in the wrist?
).
However, with the right accommodations, yoga can also be immensely healing. That’s why I go.
Sellwood Yoga is a lovely studio, and Rosey does offer modifications for injuries, and I really love her class.

I am a fan of this great Yoga studio, pitted only joining for the great promotion of 20.00 for two weeks, I have to say they are great.
The teachers and staff are amazing, I feel like i learned some great new yoga skills and have worked on doing more meditation skills I learned from here as well,
I love that everyone seems so relaxed and down to earth.

Sellwood Yoga is AMAZING. I just picked up my yoga practice again after a few years and the birth of my second child. It is a very beutiful, warm and welcoming environment to practice yoga. I do not fit the typical physical yoga mold, and have never felt out of place as I have in other environments. I have tried a variety of their classes and instructors, and each one is wonderfully unique and brings something new and special to my practice on that day. I am greatful to have found this place, and look forward to every day I am able to enjoy time there :)

I have taken Pam’s Tuesday/​Thursday F.I.T. class at Sellwood Yoga for a few weeks now and i love it! We do a fun yet challenging circuit (ball plank, step ups, single leg rows) plus abs and a good amount of stretching. Pam mixes up the exercises each week. She clearly and effectively explains each move and gives nice modifications (step ups instead of jump ups for example).
I leave feeling sweaty (yay!) but also like I have accomplished something and am energized and ready to start my day!

I love Sellwood Yoga. Savvon & Bill are amazing instructors. This place is local, family owned, you see them around town and they know who you are and ask you how you’re doing! I am sad I don’t make it into the studio more often, but I always know there’s a place I can go and find a peaceful workout with positive energy.

Sellwood Yoga is a neighborhood sanctuary that is welcoming to all. It’s a place of peace but also amazing energy. You will find a solid range of classes for different kinds of student needs but also uniquely suiting those looking to expand their individual yoga practice in a nurturing, positive environment. I highly recommend the Wednesday Candlelight Yin class as well as the restorative classes for incredible stress management effects. The Strong Vinyasa and Vinyasa Flow classes will leave you transformed. Bill, Savonn and Rosey are fantastic people who give a little bit of themselves to you in every class. Love the variety of interesting and valuable workshops too! A fantastic addition to our Sellwood community and a home away from home for me.

I tried several local studios before falling in love with Sellwood Yoga. No, really. It’s like that. The owners/​founders are seriously *good people* — they care a great deal about their students and the integrity of the studio as a whole, and while the beautiful gem of a studio resonates peace, there is none of the elite/​snobby health thing here. Many times I have seen absolute beginners welcomed warmly and supported throughout a class — but it takes crazy skill to do that in the same class where long-​time practitioners are challenged, focused, and encouraged to grow. Wonderful! The classes themselves are excellent, but even better for me, this studio feels like a second, more peaceful, home…

I love this place. So does my husband. The teachers are kind, helpful and really down to earth. The studio is beautiful and the variety and accessibility of classes is superb. They are also really engaged in the community, which is rad.
