Our favorite donuts in the pdx area. The old fashioned, maple bars and buttermilk bars are a few of our favorites, but I have never had a bad donut from this location of sesame donut. They are not about donuts with cereal or bacon on top, just great traditional donuts. They offer giant size donuts as well which can be fun for parties, just check out their website.

so thankful that I live close to this 24 hour donut place instead of voodoo, SOMUCHBETTER!

The service was awful. The lady working had no respect for her customers. She just kept saying hold on and took her 7 minutes to get to the counter. I am not pleased at all. I do love their donuts though. Just not this location.

In this culture of ‘fancy’ donuts, it’s sometimes challenging to find an old school donut shop. Well look no further, Sesame Donuts will fit all of your basic donut needs. And they’re open 24 hours. The family run spot is manned by super friendly folks. The apple fritter and Boston cream were both solid choices. And come on, who doesn’t love the idea of being able to hit up a donut shop at 2 a.m.

Love Sesame Donuts! Especially if you go in the morning, their donuts are fresh and absolutely delicious! They have a wide variety of selection and the service is wonderful. It is family owned and operated and the owners, who you’ll often find behind the register, are the nicest people. I went in to get a large order for a business meeting and one of the owners offered to buy me a beverage on the house! They like to joke with you and if their food didn’t make you feel food enough, they surely will!

What a delight! As I was waiting for them to box up four dozen donuts I had the pleasure of watching the owners interact and service several customers. Always with a smile and jovial banter. This is one American small business I am proud to support with entrepreneurs who understand the importance of their customers and make a damn good donut!

These donuts are tasty. My husband is obsessed with the chocolate cream which I guess is a Dunkin Donuts thing… And 24 hours = any time is donut time! Plus both times I was pregnant they’d give me free donuts. It was probably the best part of being pregnant.

I’ve visited just about every donut joint in the PDX area west of Willamette and I can safely say that Sesame Donuts is the worst. They leave a chemical, greasy aftertaste in your mouth, lack any flavor, and are too sweet. The cashier was really out of it and wasn’t nice at all. We sampled the pumpkin spice, Portland crème filled, maple glazed buttermilk bar, apple fritter, butternut, and chocolate donuts. The buttermilk bar was tooth-ache inducing sweet, yet was my favorite of the bunch. The butternut and pumpkin spice were unique flavors I hadn’t found in other donut shops, so it has that going for it.

Let’s not waste any time comparing famous Portland donut shops, alright? Every donut is special and unique and deserves equal rights! Sesame donuts doesn’t have any fancy donuts with pork fat sprinkled on top or NyQuil-soaked cereal pumped into the centers, but they do a really good donut! Their lemon poppyseed cake is incredible, but what really blew me a way was the fact that their vanilla icing donut had ACTUALVANILLABIRTHDAYCAKEICING pumped into and out of the center of a powdered donut. So. Freaking. Brilliant. Their customer service is really iffy and they don’t glaze the donut on their frosted donuts, but I can let it slide because they’re open 24÷7−365. Yep, you read that right. They are literally always open. Anytime you want a donut! Think about the possibilities! –3am donuts when you’ve had a night out and want something sweet(take a lyft, of course) –5am before the company meeting you forgot you had because 5am is too damn early to be awake for any reason –7pm when your kids are screaming that they want Krispy Kreme on the way home from dinner but there isn’t one nearby — so you remember they can’t read and take them to this place that’s always open! –midnight on New Year’s Eve after you got stood up and are desperate to give in to your emotional eating tendencies Guys, Sesame is delicious and they’ll always be there for us so… five stars!

i just moved to portland from astoria recently and needed my donut fix. a quick Unilocal search pointed me in the way of sesame donuts, with two locations that are pretty equal distance for me and equally friendly and delicious. i can’t believe i never heard of this place before… way better than voodoo. sure they don’t have all the glitz and junk on top of them but who really wants all that, anyways? i personally never asked for koolaid powder or bubble gum on my donuts. a true old fashioned blueberry cake donut goes a long way — straight to this girls heart. love u sesame donuts, you have a long time customer here.

5 Star Mom and Pop Doughnut and coffee shop; they really have delicious breakfast sammiches too, on fresh made Croissants or Bagels and you can choose like any meat combo. The people here love their shop and it shows, always open and always nice and friendly — if you are looking to a local place without the lines of Voodoo with all the same color and goodness look no further! This is a hidden gem for sure; all the locals love it — and now thanks to my amazing review so can you! Enjoy and of course you’re welcome…

Extremely cost-effective donuts. You can freely ask which ones are the most fresh and they’re happy to tell you. Parking has never been an issue. Open 24 hours. If you’re craving donuts at any time of day and are nearby, it is a good place to stop.

So many people say that Sesame Donuts is better than Voodoo. Do they taste better? Probably. Is the whole Sesame Donut experience better than a trip to Voodoo? Probably not. Here’s my take. I visited on a Tuesday afternoon. There were plenty of donuts available to choose from. So many that it was almost overwhelming. I based my choices mainly on Unilocal reviews and decided on a mini apple fritter, a maple bar, a sesame donut, a toasted coconut donut, and 15 glazed, raised donuts. The donut holes were the best, and amazingly priced at under $ 2 for 15. The other donuts were kind of dry and seemed like they may have been sitting there for a while. The woman working there was kind of friendly, but also mostly seemed like she didn’t want to be there. I was rung up quickly. Be aware that you have to spend at least $ 4 to use a debit or credit card. I asked for a cup of water and was given one, but was disappointed that it was at most 8 oz and didn’t have a lid. I left my bag of donuts and tiny water on the counter to use the restroom. This was where things truly went downhill. There were two restrooms, one was labeled as out of order. The other was disgusting. Worse than most reststop bathrooms. There was graffiti everywhere and almost everything was old and worn out. There was no toilet paper. There was at least one fly buzzing around. It smelled. The sink had two different handles. It was just terrible. I would have turned around and left it I hadn’t needed to pee so badly. Sesame Donuts seems like it would be a fun place for kids. If I ever have some of those I could see stopping by for a treat. However, I will be forever avoiding that bathroom and I can’t see myself regularly coming back.

A really good donut spot with great service and good donuts. I am still partial to Voodoo but iI really like that they take cards which is nice when you need to expense them. I stopped by in passing the other day and the idea of Sesame donuts appealed to me. I got 4 donuts(Maple bar, Portland Cream, Sesame and powdered iced filled. All were really good and fresh! The staff was also really friendly so I will return again

First visit and was pleasantly surprised. We arrived at 10:30pm or later on a Sunday. The storefront was well lit and fresh doughnuts were being made. I had been told to ask which were the most fresh and lucky for me it was old fashions. The employee, a nice young lady, went into the back room and got them before they were even on the shelves. That is great service and every doughnut we had was great.

Sesame Donuts has become my favorite donut shop in Portland. It has my favorite donut of all time — the chocolate kreme. I was bummed when Dunkin Donuts moved on from the west coast and along with it went the chocolate kreme. No other donut shop had one like it until Sesame came along! Also good are the strawberry frosted and the toasted coconut. They are always fresh and were still good the next day! Hopefully they will open more shops around town!

I won’t be going back here. I stopped here on National Donut Day and was super displeased with everything. The people working there did not seem happy at all. The line was super long and they weren’t properly staffed, which they should have been given it was national donut day. The worst part was that the donuts tasted like they were at least a day old and they had literally no specialty flavors. I got there early before anything was completely sold out and was shocked to see the utter lack of variety given what day it was. The donuts at Safeway taste better than what I had that day and we ended up throwing most of them out after realizing how crappy they were. I’ll be taking my money elsewhere from now on… sad because I was a big fan of them originally. They need to step it up… this is Oregon. land of the donuts… c’mon people(especially if your sign says you’re better than voodoo)!

Great place to grab some donuts at any time of the day! I prefer Pip’s Original Doughnuts, but sometimes I don’t want to make that drive out there and Sesame Donuts does the trick. I prefer Sesame Donuts over Voodoo as well, for sure! Customer service is always great here as well! Update: I prefer the sesame donuts on 185th. This location doesn’t seem as fresh anymore! :(
