Shanghai Portland Party Bus & Tours

We had the bus about four hours each on back to back days to get a group around for hiking, city sights, breweries and food. It’s a great option in and around Portland. With driver/​owner Dusty at the helm, it ensures you get your money’s worth and have a local and committed guide to iron out the fine details. Highly recommend; 5 stars all the way for this and would go with Dusty again if we make it back to Portland.

Why drive when you can be driven!
It was a last minute thing as I worked feverishly to find a place that could accommodate our Double Birthday & Girls Day outing for 12 wild & crazy Wahines (aka ladies)! After calling place after place who either didn’t have any availability or was way to EXPENSIVE, I finally came across Shanghai! I spoke to Dusty the owner who was a delight to work with. Not only did he have his PARTY BUS available he gave us an amazing deal, almost half the cost that other similar type limo companies were requesting. Boy did I feel like I won the jackpot!
When he picked us up for our adventure he showed up with sunflowers which he presented to 4 of the 12 ladies (it would’ve been nice if everyone had gotten one, but it was the thought that counts). He had a cooler full of water, lights streaming & wifi hookup to play our 80’s jams!
The ride to the Willamette Valley Wine Country was not only fun & entertaining it was comfortable!
1^st stop was Stoller Family Estate, Dusty dropped us off up front and even came in to make sure we were all ok and enjoying ourselves.
2^nd stop was Erath, once again Dusty was very attentive, he checked on us and also was our personal photographer!
3^rd stop, well that was up in the air as we weren’t sure if we should go to a neighboring Vineyard (since there were tons in that area) or head over to our neck of the woods. Since we were undecided Dusty offered adventure by stating that he would be happy to surprise us ladies. While that sounded fun & tempting, we decided that heading closer to home for a finals stop was more appealing. So we headed to ARDIRI! Our journey there was a total off roading adventure! Umm…“did we take a wrong turn?” Hahaha!
Once we arrived, knowing we had only reserved the Party Bus for 4-​hours we were already passing that threshold, he said no worries, no rush, you ladies enjoy. An hour plus later we were finally on our way to our final destination which was my home.
While Dusty had no expectation to be paid for that extra hour, there was NO way I wasn’t gonna pay him, after all he had done to make our day FUN & entertaining I was happy to oblige!
I highly recommend Shanghai for your traveling party adventures! We will definitely be using him again for future events!

Writing from my Fiancé’s account. My friends and I hired Shanghai for my bachelor party and had such a good time. It was by far the highlight of the trip. Dusty the owner is a super cool guy and made the trip all that more special. He was responsive to our calls and emails and things went super smoothly. He is very knowledgeable about the Portland area and is generally just a really awesome person.
Dusty took 14 of us out on a trip out to the gorge in his party bus. He had water, ice and a cooler for us and the sound system on the bus is great. We headed out to Hood River for lunch and Dusty suggested making a stop to go for a quick swim in the Columbia river which was an awesome idea since it was over 100 degrees that day. It was the perfect pit stop. He found us a perfect spot to swim at and it was super fun. After lunch we went on a hike to a waterfall and swim hole which was also awesome before heading back to our hotel. We didn’t feel rushed or anything. It was a super fun and smooth trip. I’ll never forget it!

Just did a bachelor party on the Shanghai bus and WOW! We had an amazing time on the bus, did an all day Tour de Portland and it was perfect. Sound system was phenomenal, Anton (out driver) was awesome and the atmosphere the bus creates is exactly what you want. I would definitely use Shanghai again and recommend using it for your weekend travels to the PDX area.

I recently got back from an amazing stagette with 17 of my closest friends in Portland. As we were planning our events for the long weekend, we kept coming back to the problem of looking for a way for all of us to get around without breaking the bank!
After looking through several different websites and checking other companies, we landed on Shanghai Party Bus! I’m so glad we took the chance and went with this small, local business (how Portland of us) because Dusty (owner and driver) was truly one of a kind!
We originally arranged for 1 pick up and 1 drop off, but he was so flexible and we were lucky enough to have him for the whole evening! He even came up with several suggestions for us, as we were from out of town. This really made our last night in Portland a truly local experience! To top it off, he made sure that we could get into each of our locations without any problems and he got us home safely!
The bus is fully equipped with a booming sound system, a cooler for your beverages, and a super great driver who puts up with the loudest and most crazy girls!
Ladies, if you’re looking for handles to dance around on the bus, this bus has it all! We had no problems holding on the railings and busting out our best dance moves! ;)
Guys, be sure to bring girls on your bus if you want to witness these saucy moves! No guarantees though! Lol!
Needless to say, this is a super fun experience so give Dusty a call and he’ll hook you up! Would recommend this to anyone traveling in a large group in Portland!

We had the BEST experience with Shanghai Portland Party Bus & Tours! We used them for our wedding party bus and it was awesome. Three weeks later and we keep hearing from our friends and family how much fun the bus was.
It looks like everyone has covered why this bus is the best — but I have just a few more of my own reasons to add. From the moment I inquired about Shanghai, Dusty was interested and excited about working with us to make our wedding the best evening possible. As a big (rowdy) group who loves to have fun (and tip a few back), Shanghai was the best way to «get the party started,» as we brought on many coolers full of drinks and our own iPod for music. The bus driver was great, gave us a few ground rules but mostly told us just to HAVE FUN… and we did! It was the best time, and better than we could have imagined or even wanted.
Spending the (reasonable amount of) money on the bus was DEFINITELY the best investment we made for the entire wedding… to know our wedding party was being transported safely and all together to and from the reception, along with any others who were drinking and needed a safe ride back to the hotel… this was the best decision and use of our money for the entire evening.
Thank you! I can only hope that we will have another opportunity to use Shanghai’s services… we will definitely be recommending to anyone and everyone!

THIS GUY. I’m not going to rant as much as the others on this page– but its only because I can’t say anything about this company that hasn’t been said before. After dropping off the deposit, I rented this bus out for a company outing and every expectation was met from A-​Z. I had approached Dusty with an «idea» for a company outing with absolutely nothing planned. Dusty planned the whole thing– Pick up and drop off schedules, wine tour route, where to stop and eat, drink special discounts along the way, etc. Meticulously planned with no details over looked.
The bus was clean and delightfully lit. The driver was a great addition to the ambiance and was nothing but courteous and respectful. And surprise prizes?! COME ON! Didn’t expect that one.
The rest of the transportation companies couldn’t even open up their schedule for me. Given the one week time span of making this happen– Shanghai Portland made it on time and a whole lot easier than I thought it was going to be.

I didn’t get to actually do business with Dusty because we miss-​communicated and he ended up being double booked. But he went out of his way to help me find another bus on a weekend where all of the other buses were booked. He’s a stand up guy. My crew ended up having a great time with who we booked, but I wouldn’t have known who to call if Dusty didn’t go out of his way to help me out.
If I find myself needing to book a bus again, he’ll be the first guy who I call for sure.

I’m definitely a fan of this bus. I attended the Mardi Grad event and we went to 7 – 9 bars (i lost count lol) but overall it was a great time. The host plays music that is relevant and diverse, the riders were very open-​minded fun people of all ages, I met some new friends on the bus & i had no idea what to expect so thankfully it was fun. I won’t say what happens on the bus because that stays on the bus LMAO. The only downfall was some of the bars that I can remember that we stopped were packed so the wait times were long & 1 bar turned into a family restaurant (former Portsmouth club) so i think the host should do a little more investigating before booking rides. Anyways, we had a blast. Thanks Shanghai PartyBus!!!

These guys are just plain awesome — from their prices, to their customer service — they really are the whole package– they both made me a hero for choosing them when planning a bachelor party and a legend for helping exceed everyone’s expectations– I simply can’t recommend them enough

Everyone should get a ride in this thing!
We went out for a bachelor party and I don’t think any of us stopped laughing, dancing, and just having, what is likely, the best bachelor party I’ll ever be a part of! I called around to several party bus places as well as limos and just wasn’t feeling like we’d really get the experience we were looking for.
The host and owner is a hoot! Full of energy and comedy he really makes you bust a gut when he’s not working as a great dj running music over his really surprisingly loud and clear sound system. The lights at night are a great touch. He’s thought of everything and seems to really care about everyone having the time of their lives.
Talking to the owner briefly at one of the bars we stopped at he mentioned he had just shuttled for a wedding the day before. I’d say the applications for something like this beauty of a bus are pretty varied and ever expanding. This dude obviously loves what he does and he does it well!
Thanks again Dusty, if you see this, for making this night TRULY one for our groom and all the rest of us to remember!

Honestly, this as good as it gets on Unilocal.Dusty (owner) and Anton (Driver) went above and beyond to make the bachelor party I threw for my best friend a smashing success. I found these guys on Unilocal,and from the first phone call I had with Dusty to the bachelor party I threw for 16 of my buddies, it was clear that Shanghai’s aim was to help us have the best time possible.
Before even making a reservation, Dusty and I chatted about what a day might look like, and he gave me some advice on what to prioritize and de-​prioritize in terms of activities. When it came to the party itself, they were early or on time at every stop, were willing to be flexible and pick up beer a couple of times throughout the day, and even called ahead to some of the breweries we went to, to help us stay on schedule and have the most seamless experience possible.
As for the bus itself, it’s like a nicer school bus that’s been painted red and retrofitted with a great bluetooth sound system and party lights, which awesome when an impromptu dance party broke out when a bachelorette party joined forces with us in the evening.
There are a couple big advantages to Shanghai Party Bus vs. a limo bus or stretch hummer: if you spill a drink in the bus, it’s not a huge thing. In a limo, they charge you a cleaning fee, and otherwise try to nickel and dime you. WIth Dusty and the Shanghai Party Bus, everything was negotiated up front, and the cost of this bus worked out to be about half of the limos I looked at.
I can’t recommend these guys enough. Definitely give Dusty a call if you’re interested in a party bus in Portland– he’ll give you his honest opinion about what you need, which at the very least will be helpful in determining what you want/​need for your day or night on the town!

I rented this party bus for a bachelorette wine tour. Simply amazing!!! The tour was catered to our needs, staff was fun and super helpful. The bus itself was incredible! Clean, bumpin sound system, fun disco lights. I have never been on a party bus before and now I know I will never look further than Shanghai Portland… there is no need! Thank you guys for an awesome experience!

I had such an amazing time on a wine tour bachelorette party with the Shanghai Party Bus. I’ve only ever been in a limo or a trolley for parties, and this was better than both. I loved the open space, the amount of people (we had 20) we could fit, the personalities of the hosts/​driver, and the whole atmosphere. They had fun disco lights & a light-​up ceiling. We all loved the bluetooth music player, which allowed us to control the songs. Plus, we got to drink on a school bus! ;) We took the bus from Portland to Newberg for an amazing day of wine tasting. If I ever host a party with several people (in town, or like our tour), I will definitely contact Shanghai! They are so much fun. I’d also like to add that I felt very safe … they were total professionals!

Not all party bus tours are created equal.
Having gone on a party bus on New Years Eve with another company that seemed rather sloppy, I can definitely say that Shanghai runs a tight ship.
Check-​in and departure went smoothly and we were definitely off to a partying start with cool music playing and HELLO! JELL-​O shots being passed out. Nothing says bring on the party like Jell-​o shots, amirite?
We went to cool places like The Alibi, where we had an entire space reserved just for us with our own servers and DJ for karaōke. I don’t usually partake in karaōke unless I’m in an environment like Voicebox or Punchbowl Social sequestered with my friends, and this time was no different. But we did have some truly awesome singers among us that did take advantage of the karaōke and it was a great time.
Next stop was Tanker. I’d never been there before and I thought it was pretty cool with all the games they had available. I don’t know if I’ll come back there but it was ok while we were there.
Tonic was next and it too was ok. The one server looked like a deer in the headlights when he saw us come pouring in. He was mumbling about how he didn’t know we were coming. Somehow I doubt his claims were true because Shanghai has its shit together and said that they gave all the bars a heads up that we would be coming so I think the guy was just making excuses.
EastBurn which is a brunch favorite of mine was next. I had never hung out there at night. It was ok. I think I’ll stick to brunch, which is awesome.
The last stop was either to take folks back to Rialto where the tour started which was a really nice thing to do, or end up at Matador uptown. Hell yes! Matador is awesome and a mere couple of blocks from my place.
Some of the things that I liked about this tour were that we only had four bars compared to seven like the other tour so we never felt rushed to hurry up and chug our drinks and move on to the next destination. We had time to get a feel for each destination. Additionally, the bars chosen while somewhat off the beaten path at least for me, were bars I would totally come back to.
Also, while our host was a cool partier, he always maintained a sense of professionalism and decorum (i.e. he didn’t get falling down wasted). He also handed out snacks halfway through the evening which was a much appreciated gesture.
I’m checking the calendar and upcoming tours. I’ll be riding with you again Shanghai!
2014 — Review # 15

I have to say I was really impressed by Shanghai. I have been on a number bus bar tours, and this one was by far the most organized. We left at our scheduled time, the bars they took us to knew we were coming, we had enough time at each place to actually enjoy it, and the host gauged our interest to decide whether to stay longer or depart early. I felt that the bars he selected were places I actually wanted to go rather than out of the way dives.
First stop, Alibi. On the way they handed out jello shots and had fun music pumping to get the party started. We had the private karaōke room in the back. There were 2 servers to take care of our party, so we weren’t crawling over each other to get a drink. We spent a little over an hour, so the people who wanted to sing had a chance to do so. I’m not big on karaōke, but this was a good choice. I do enjoy mai tai’s, so I was set.
Second stop, Tanker. They were able to handle our group quickly, and the host was giving prizes for the highest scores on Ms. Pacman. When we boarded the bus to leave snacks were being handed out. Yes please, I would love a bag of cashews and a Lindor ball. It was a nice touch, and helped keep us going.
Stop 3, Tonic Lounge. We pretty much had the place to ourselves. There were comfy cozy couches to lounge and visit.
Stop 4, East Burn. We had the downstairs game area, which people really seemed to enjoy. There were 3 bartenders cranking out drinks. We stayed a little longer here since people were having so much fun.
Last stop, The Matador! On the way we dropped off people at The Rialto where we started. For some folks it was easier to get home from there, so it was really considerate of the host and driver to do that. The rest of us carried on to The Matador. I love this bar, and it’s closer to home for me, so it was the perfect ending to the evening.
When Tamara C. and I bought our ticket for $ 15 for Valentines Day we weren’t sure what to expect. Shanghai is the new guy in town, but they seem to be doing it right. They certainly exceeded my expectations, and I plan to go on future tours with them.

I was on the New Year’s party and had a blast! I meet new people, went to new locations (for me), and had no worries all night. I was well taken care of with much needed snacks and noise makers! I plan to go on other adventures!
