Shoe Box Pediatric Dentistry

I cannot begin to tell you how sad I am about the experience we had with Dr. Hsu. My daughter was incredibly nervous about going to the dentist, because she has had negative experiences at the dentist in the past. I searched for a pediatric dentist thinking the experience would be better for her, but I was so wrong. Now, I worry about future appointments at other dentists. Please save your child the grief and do not go here. I should have checked the reviews, because our experience is very similar to some of the other posts. The dental receptionist and dental hygienist were amazing. The dentist, Dr Hsu, however was awful! My daughter was clearly nervous, was shaking, and was beginning to cry. He felt it necessary to resolve that situation by yelling at her, which made it way worse! Not only did he yell at her, he yelled at the younger boy in the chair next to her waiting for his appointment. The boy next to my daughter was getting upset, because the dentist was yelling at my daughter so the dentist attempted to shame him by telling him he’s not a baby. When he spoke to us, he basically told us that we were bad parents for not being able to figure out how to get her to stop sucking on her fingers even though we have tried everything imaginable. He implied that we should use force. When I questioned him about what exactly does he mean by ‘force’, he got nervous and back-​pedaled without answering the question.
Overall, the experience was horrible. The office was nice and inviting, the receptionist was nice, the dental hygienist was nice, but the dentist was atrocious. We will not be returning to this dentist.

Dr Shu was very unprofessional! He would yell at my 5 year old son say «I had other kids act better than you» during the procedure. We tried the best to calm him down during has baby root canal and filling. 2 weeks later his fillings fell out!!! They tried to do the repair. However they didn’t want to give him any medication. We told him, do what you have to do to fix it, even put him under if you have to but Dr Shu choose not to. Today the filling was done and once we got home we noticed 2 cuts below his tongue! He would NEVER return your calls and speak with you personally, he would have his staff call you and go back and forth to get the questions answered. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

Yes, I forgot! I have to schedule my son’s semiannual dental cleaning. Knowing that he’s a very, very difficult patient, I knew that I had to find a specialized pediatric dentist. I checked websites and called another more popular pediatric dentist, but they couldn’t see him for about a month. I said I’d call back and called this place.
I was told to request an appointment online, so I did. I waited for a week for the call to schedule the appointment and no call came. I called back. I was put on hold, and would like to think that my call was accidentally dropped. I called back and left a voicemail leaving all my info (again) and requested an appointment (again). It’s been a little over three weeks. No call. No email. No nothing.
Silly me. I suppose they’re too busy counting all the money from all the patients they already have. I apologize for having interrupted them with my silliness of wanting to give them business. Oh, and I if I wouldn’t just scheduled the first appointment from the other place I’d previously called, that would’ve happened already.
