Sent mama deliveries from spud and she LOVED them. She has high standards and she couldn’t stop raving how fresh and delicious everything was. She’s a regular shopper at new seasons and trader joes. I think she may not need to go there so often now.

We live in Beaverton so I was so happy Spud out towards us! I’ve been using Spud for a year and it is nice to not always have to go to the store for the basics that I get from Spud every week! The website is easy to use, I frequently change my «standing order» and can add in seasonal fresh produce and fruits. I like navigating the website and trying new products that are, simple, yummy, and good for you! Great to also see the local companies as well. Keep it up Spud!

I live in NW walking distance from Fred Meyers and Trader Joe’s, so I wasn’t sure how long I would continue with the service after using my Groupon. But after a few weeks of a regular produce delivery, I’m a Spud-​nic!
Every Tuesday is a Thanksgiving for me! I get better produce deals on LOCAL and organic foods than Freddy’s, PLUS I’m on a blue potato kick right now, which you can’t find in most grocery stores. I used to be one of those bad habit single people that would resort to microwave dinners after a long day at work, but now I’m excited to cook with my Spud produce every week.
I rarely use Spud for non-​Harvest Box items, although having four 6-​packs of Blue Sky soda delivered once in a while saves me money and the hell of lugging that much home by hand.

Let me count the ways I love Spud as a delivery service:
1. Delivery is free if I buy as little as $ 34.00 worth of stuff. Other grocery delivery services only sometimes give you a coupon for free delivery, and that’s only if you buy certain stuff and spend at least $ 150.00. Even if I had no other reason to like Spud, this makes them a winner.
2. I don’t have to be home when they deliver.
3. Even if I am not home, they keep the cold stuff cold with ice packs and dry ice.
4. They use reusable crates rather than disposable paper or plastic bags. (and no deposits required for crates or ice packs)
5. When I buy milk with returnable bottles, Spud takes the bottles back and reimburses me the deposit.
6. I never trust other grocery delivery services to give me good produce that I would pick myself, but I’ve always been happy with the produce from Spud.
7. I have a choice, to ask for a delivery when I want one, or to ask for a regularly scheduled delivery, and I have a choice as to how often that happens.
8. I don’t need some rewards card, but I do earn points for money spent, and actually get money back towards my next delivery fairly often.
9. Spud makes it very easy to know if what I’m buying is from a local company, and even rewards me with the possibility of free stuff if I buy enough local stuff.
10. I get to pick and choose what I want delivered, but if I forget to do that in time, Spud picks some produce for me based on my preferences.
I’m sure there’s more that I’m forgetting. As with any delivery service, I love not having to cart those heavy groceries home on the bus. The only drawback: they don’t have as many choices available as those other services that charge around $ 10 for delivery. They do have the kinds of things I want: organic, local produce; and environmentally friendly household goods. The funny thing is, since I started using Spud, those other services are offering me free delivery if I will come back to them. Now, if only they started carrying Swheat brand cat litter…

I wish I had a Groupon! I used Spud in San Francisco and loved it so it was only natural to try it in Portland as well.
I have been getting deliveries weekly for almost 2 months now and I am spending less than I would at Whole Foods or New Seasons.
The produce is always fresh, crisp, and delicious. Major Kudos. And the delivery time seems to always be the same each week which is also really nice.
I am a busy lady and Spud makes my hectic schedule easier to cope with.

I also tried spud! with their Groupon. I’m definitely a fan. FI’m spending the same with spud! than I would at New Seasons or the Co-​op without having to actually GO shopping — a huge bonus in my book.
Someone mentioned the icepack charges… they are refunded when you return them… seems reasonable to me.
The produce has been stellar… amazingly crisp, fresh lettuce, juicy fruit, all around yummy stuff.
They are making my life SO much easier and they have my business!

I Love SPUD! I’ve been using them for a few months now and I’ve never been disappointed.
Their customer service goes above and beyond anything I’ve seen in a long time. I’ve always got a quick response to any questions.
I love getting my fresh harvest box. I can tailor it to my families likes and dislikes, but still be surprised and get new fresh foods to try. And if I’m not feeling like something new or have a menu I can change my fresh harvest box to exactly what I need. We eat so much healthier having all of this fresh food delivered to the door. Having 3 small kids it’s not easy trying to drag them all to the store, having groceries delivered (and delivery has been FREE every time so far) is such a big help. Less trips to the store means less impulse buys too. I love having a fridge full of fresh veggies and a basket of fresh fruit on the table, it just makes me feel healthier!
Their prices are fair and often lower than the popular grocery stores. The quality has always been great. They do charge a small deposit for the bins and freezer bags, but you get that money back as soon as you return the bins and bags. You don’t even have to place another order for them to pick them up, just call.
I started out ordering once every two weeks, now I order once a week. I got my family members SPUD certificates for the holidays and they love it too. They carry my Moms favorite cheese :) And I recently (like just now for breakfast) discovered the honey greek yogurt they carry is awesome!
Fresh, local, organic produce. I’m not driving to the store, fair prices and amazing customer service. I want to give SPUD a hug :)

I tried out spud! through Groupon. They had $ 50 certificate for only $ 25. I usually shop at New Seasons or Fred Meyer for their organic products. I think spud! online ordering system was pretty easy to navigate. You can also ask the customer service for delivery window time around your area. For my area the delivery time was between 2 – 4 pm. They said that even when I’m not at home, I will get my delivery.
I got home from work on the delivery day and found out that I didn’t get my delivery. I emailed the customer service and wondered where could my belly filler goodies went. Hopefully they didn’t leave it in front of my apartment building and a hobo took it away.
Couple hours went by, I heard a knock on my door. It was my neighbor that I’ve never seen before, I think she lives on the basement level. She carried my big gray spud! container up to my apartment. Apparently, they delivered it to a wrong apartment. I checked the paperwork and it had the correct apartment number. I apologized to my neighbor and thanked her for the spud! delivery trouble.
Thank God, she’s not a hobo who will eat my organic eggplant and munch on my Pirates’ booty snack. I was pretty satisfied with the quality of produce however, I’m not a fan of the «ice pack» charges. $ 3.50 for each ice pack. If you ordered dairy and meat product, you will need two ice packs and that’s $ 7 charge. Ouch!
Lesson learned, next time I’m just going to order only produce and get my dairy/​meat products from New Seasons. Hopefully, they will deliver it to the right place next time.

Discovered Spud! through a Groupon coupon deal that seemed worth checking them out for, 50 dollars worth of groceries for 25! Sign me up.
They’re not terrible I guess, but they’re not fantastic either. For one the delivery window is far too wide. 9:00am to 9:00pm is a huge amount of time. And if you’re running out of food, or you’re waiting to make dinner then there’s really no telling when your groceries will arrive. When I ordered they still hadn’t delivered by 6:00pm and I live in NW off 405.
There are also an extortionate amount of additional charges for each order. They add a 3.50 charge for an insulated bag and dry ice. The insultated bag is just that, but flimsy and cheap. The dry ice to preserve order was non-​existent. I also understand they’re trying to be more sustainable, but I’m not sure about the logic of wrapping potatoes up in plastic bags, but not the extremely dirty spinach. I’m also stuck with a grey packing crate now that will probably just get thrown on the street as a freebie.
When putting together my fruit and vegetable delivery on the website I selected California Valencia oranges… which didn’t appear in the actual delivery because they weren’t «local.» However; yams, broccoli, spinach and carrots from California are ok? And the um, bananas from Mexico are local?
And they also forgot to include my tomatoes, but still billed me for them. The overall result of spud really doesn’t justify the cost ($ 48.06 for 15 items, not including the 3.50 silver bag and 22 cent surcharge for carbon offset.) And it certainly doesn’t justify their clunky and not at all user friendly website.
One thing I forgot in my original review. There was a 7 dollar difference in what I was quoted on the site as my invoice and the actual invoice. I’m still completely at a loss as to how. It was in my favor, thankfully but still pretty weird.
Overall, these guys are just as local as Freddy’s for produce and you know exactly what you’re getting, but likely less haphazard.
Edit: In response to the below. I tried to call to find out where my food was when I got off work. But come to find out their customer service closes at 4:00pm. So, yeah. No e-​mail or anything confirming delivery either. I’ve also e-​mailed customer service regarding the missing tomatoes, but got a response to my Unilocal!review and no reply to my tomato problem.

spud! has truly made my life more livable and I think everyone who is dedicated to eating a healthy diet and decreasing their carbon footprint should consider their service. Every week I get a fantastic delivery of organic produce and household items saving me time going to the store, saving me gas $$ and saving me grocery $$ because I find their prices on organic produce are consistently lower than Fred’s, New Season’s and Whole Foods. Unlike Organics to You, I have the choice to either let them mix a box for me or choose exactly what I want each week so I never end up with too much or with items I don’t like to eat, plus they have cheese, eggs, milk, nuts, cereal, even g diapers! As a busy self employed business woman with a husband to feed, spud! really makes it possible for me to provide organic fresh seasonal and local food for my family within my limited time frame.
