St Johns Swapnplay Playspace

This is our home away from home and then some. We bring food and settle in to play and visit with other kids and parents, walk around the block to the community center, the library, or the playground, then back to swap to eat, swap some gear, clothes, or toys, and play some more. My kids are socialized, I get grownup conversation and when we return home, our house is still tidy! This «centrality and socialization «are not the only benefits: there are parenting, cooking, kid, and myriad other classes offered, a full kitchen, toys you couldn’t afford to have at home, gear to borrow (so you don’t buy that baby bouncer you’ll only use for three months) and the priceless input of other trusted parents. The benefits are too numerous to recount. As a nearly four year member I can enthusiastically say that your family will love the new friendships and meaningful play times that await you here!

The St John’s SwapnPlay has been a gift to our family in so many ways. Purposeful, engaging play (space) as well as an opportunity for parents and children to learn from one another through positive interaction. This is a shared values based community where I have personally learned some important parenting skills and made some close friends. We are so grateful for this play space!

This place is great for young ones but if you have a boy maybe not so much for him. The person who runs this place doesn’t like boys and likes to single out the boys. Always over correcting the boys. She never gets the child’s parent when she has a problem. My son was held down and had a toy ripped out of his hand. He was mentally tormented by this! I had to seek counseling for him before it came out. Not to mention all the other things she would do.
This place is open on a false pretext that it helps the community. It doesn’t. It was given a nonprofit status for this false statement. It doesn’t give scholarships like advertised. They don’t want anyone from the «wrong side of Fessenden «
I once offered to make fliers for a community event and was told not to because they didn’t want «those kind of people there»
Also the grant they got last year…
They wrote up a story about a family they «helped» to get the grant. It was a lie. They never helped this woman. They made her feel different there and unwelcomed. Then they kicked her out because she wasn’t the kind a mother they wanted there. They never offered her classes or advice. As a member I attended two free classes there. Too bad she never had the opportunity.

Swapnplay is our true home away from home.
Parents & kiddo’s…we all need friends and fun things to do and look forward to, right? At Swapnplay you’ll find just that! Parents can get to know each other and chat over a cup of coffee or tea while the kids ride in play cars, climb and conquer in the big kid fort, create with the slew of supplies in the art room, grow their brains in the library, or snuggle up for a break in the nap room. Also, having somewhere to take the kids where they can be themselves (aka loud and adorable) when it’s raining is priceless… Swap is THE cabin fever solution!
There are classes for all ages (from baby to adult) and a rotation of special evenings and events. (The 2^nd Saturday Dinners are –not– to be missed!!)
The Swap closet is a treasure to behold. Generous members share everything from baby, kid, adult, and maternity clothing, shoes, baby carriers, baby gear (co-​sleepers, bouncers, swings, walkers, and MORE!) to canning equipment, table settings, bread machines and camping gear… just too many great things to list.
We live 2,000 miles away from our relatives, and we’re also a one income family as well. Without the supportive Swap community our lives, and hearts, wouldn’t be nearly as full. Every person we’ve met since we joined last year has been friendly and welcoming, like I’ve known them for years.
