I’m not an avid coffee drinker, but while in Portland, I had to pay a visit to Stumptown Coffee Roasters. The brick wall, chalkboard menu, and staff reminded me of how hipster Portland is. The narrow layout and main counter centered in the coffee shop made the place too cramped and awkward to walk by to access the tables at the back. Although small, this coffee shop was cozy. I ordered a vanilla latte, which was smooth, sweet, and creamy. A friend had the nitro cold brew, which wasn’t too acidic and had a really smooth and velvety mouthfeel, much to my surprise. I guess nitrogen really does makes a difference! Service was decent, neither upbeat nor super friendly. With several locations throughout Portland, Stumptown is a must-visit at least once.

I visit this location often and recommend it! Though it doesn’t offer the space inside and can get cramped, doesn’t offer great parking, and takes some looking to find, its my favorite location for a number of reasons. I actually find the location on Belmont convenient when all I want to do is a quick«drive-by» to pick up some coffee. Of course, it doesn’t need to be said that these are some of the best beans in town. You’ll find locally roasted beans sourced from locations you’re familiar with or a fan of, and you’ll find that no matter the location, the Stumptown folks care. Though I do appreciate the nice skylights at the original location, this spot is cozy and I especially appreciate the beautiful sound system and grade-school chalk board-the aesthetic is pleasing, and again, one can sense that a passion for the things involved was certainly at play with the design of just about everything here. The staff here is friendly, as you’d expect, and funny. It’s nice to be surrounded by light-hearted folks when you’re often inundated with overly serious matters, so I do appreciate their laughter… I’d recommend this location, for the reasons I’ve outlined and many more. You’ll find your own reasons, I’m sure.

I really adore Stumptown, especially the fact they offer honey water as a sweetener. The staff is quick, the coffee is tasty and I’m never disappointed. Plus — it’s a Portland landmark. Even though they were bought by Peets, they’re still a favorite.

I am a huge fan of Stumptown Coffee. I will swear by their cold brew for life, and every drink I’ve ordered is amazing. I also really love their boxed drinks, and I was able to try the Winter Cheer kind for the first time. Really reminded me of Christmas! :) This location is nice and homey, with some bar seating towards the front of the store and regular chairs and tables towards the back. The people who took my order weren’t that helpful nor friendly. And while their coffee is amazing, I was a little disappointed with the chocolate croissant and lemon poppyseed cake that I got. I have to admit that the cake was very interesting in that the top layer is all black poppyseeds, but they were both very average. Overall, the quality of the coffee itself made up for a lot of the elements that this location was lacking.

In my opinion Stumptown is one of the best roasters and their staff in the shops are friendly and helpful. Having fresh locally roasted coffee helps make what could be an average cup of joe an excellent beverage. Add in baristas who know what they are doing and you also get excellent espresso drinks. This isn’t my favorite location of the bunch, parking is a bit busy and the space itself is smaller than the 3rd street and Division locations but for the coffee and cheerful staff I would sit on the sidewalk.

Nice place, good coffee, good folks, free New York Times. Not a big space though, so if there’s a rush or too many lingerers, you might not find a seat. I really like everyone who works there, but there’s one extremely passive-aggressive barista who really needs to reconsider whether this is the right job for her. Unlike every other barista, she NEVER gives you a spoon with your late, mocha, or cappuccino. Also unlike all the others, she’ll never bring it to your table, even if there’s no line at all and she’s just staring out the window. Still, knowing full well that you’re sitting at a table in the back of the room, she’ll put your drink at the front of the bar(without a spoon) and watch you get up and walk all the way up there to pick it up. You’ll know her when you see her. Always has an angry look. I don’t know why she’s working there, but I know she shouldn’t be.

OVERALL Good coffee. Not-so-good customer service(and I tend to be highly forgiving after working in customer service from age 16 – 26). Just slightly rude vibes every time I go in, but they have good wifi and good coffee so I keep going. ONEREALLYBADEXPERIENCE I went to this branch last week and when I asked if I could use my own travel mug for an iced coffee, they seemed shocked and didn’t ask what size I wanted, so they charged me 3.75 for the largest size, which I couldn’t fathom drinking more than half of. I was a little miffed but let it go without saying anything and made the total an even 4.00. They charged me 6.00. I understand mistakes happen, and they did offer to give me a free coffee if I came in with the receipt, but I’m not sure they never even gave me one… It’s only a few bucks, but the bad attitude is pretty consistent and I guess I will always ask for a receipt from now on. **I just don’t think people should be worried about double-checking their debit charges to make sure they are charged 60% tips.**

The cappuccino that I got was excellent and I love the pictures and vibe of this stumptown but I didn’t like the guy that took my order. He was very unenthusiastic and looked bored. Overall this shop was bright, and there’s outdoor seating on the side of the building or inside front of store or further in the back.

Seriously great coffee. Seating is at a premium at this location though so get drinks to go or strike up a conversation with the landed patrons as soon as you get in.

Long and narrow space. .. there’s some bar seating with Emeco bar stools in the windows up front. I like this small l-shaped area since I can work at it standing. .. the main counter takes up the middle of the store, and there’s a definite choke point if you’re trying to get to the seating area or the restrooms in the rear as customers are queuing up to order. Seating area in the back has maybe a half-dozen tables. Standard Stumptown options, including nitro cold brew. Wifi was a bit flaky when I was there. Ended up using the Xfinity hotspots instead of the«Stumptown Belmont» access point(which kept disconnecting every few minutes). Pro tip — restroom code is 124

To the tall, female Barista with ponytail and back tattoo: This isn’t the New York art district and you’re not selling wine, please ratchet down the snobbery by one unit.

Yum, double yum. We were only in Portland for 1 day on a 3 day«reconnaissance» mission to OR and at the top of my list(above Voodoo donuts) was making sure I tried a cup of Stumptown. I’d already had coffee at breakfast so I opted for a mid-morning latte. I am a bit of a third-wave snob but also can appreciate your average cuppa joe. My drink did not disappoint and my husband’s cappuccino was equally delish according to him. We had to buy a bag of beans to bring home just so that we could continue to feel like we were still in Portland! Also, the staff seemed to be having a lot of fun while being efficient at their work.

I love a solid Stumptown, and this one is just that. Sure you can go to town complaining about the hipsters, or the baristas, or the hipster baristas, or the sheer amount of exposed brick in the joint,(so. much. brick.) but ultimately you’re going to sound like a complete wanker who didn’t know he/she was walking into a Stumptown… on Belmont. Fantastic coffee, fast wifi, great Belmont-y vibe. I would personally enjoy a few more food/pastry selections, but hey, you can’t win ‘em all.

Great coffee just like the other locations. This one might be one of the smaller of the locations. It’s long a narrow so I felt a little claustrophobic when it was busier. There’s one large round table but most of the other tables are two seaters and chances are your back will be pretty close to the person behind you. There are a few electrical outlets but are really only accessible for a few tables. If you’re looking to study and need a lot of room then it’s not exactly my favorite location to do so. That isn’t to say it’s a great location still and you’ll enjoy the atmosphere and great coffee. But for those who are browsing places to study I hope this helps.

We had an team meeting here and loved the place. It’s a simple coffee bar, but great to stop in on while shopping in Belmont. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about coffee. We liked their macchiato shots and bags of coffee grounds to take home. With two of our top executives from Austin, TX, Stumptown is an iconic piece of Portland that contributed to their Northwest assimilation. Great french press taste!

Well, this place is full of magic. Open windows gives the sunshine room to dance around this straight up legit place for quality coffee. There are a few spots to hangout and work(Free WiFi) or hangout while drinking coffee but I felt like the majority of people in here were fulfilling a need for caffeine to go. The baristas are highly professional and generous with kindness. You can totally tell that Stumptown has a high standard with their beans. My espresso shot was smooth and my croissant was scrumptious. If I ever find myself back in Portland, I plan on consuming more!
