Mexican cuisine to Portlanders
History
Established in 1960.
The Original Taco House began with the passion and creativity of Gene and Natha Waddle in 1960 with the idea to be one of the first restaurants to introduce Mexican cuisine to Portlanders. And if you are from the Portland area, you may also have frequented their first restaurant «Waddle’s Drive– In Coffee Shop» located in Jantzen Beach and established in 1945. Although no longer in operation, the Waddle family tradition continues with their two grandsons, Nate and Jeff, through the Original Taco House restaurants and their central USDA production kitchen, Annex Food Co. Many locals may not even realize when they purchase our house dressing, fresh salsa or enchilada sauce from their local supermarket that it’s made fresh daily at «The Annex» which can be seen across the parking lot from the 82nd Ave Taco House. While many restaurants come and go, the Original Taco House has remained a staple.
