Kebabs were over cooked. We had a app that was described to us as needing more time in the microwave because we returned it for being rock hard. The drinks were really good. The atmosphere is nice too.

I love Moroccan food. I love the Moroccan people. I admire their culture. So it was disheartening that this restaurant was just mediocre. You will see from the photo that The food was attractive enough. Unfortunately, the salmon tagine came out initially with the salmon raw. That was particularly a problem as you could tell from the flavor that it had been previously frozen. The service was slow, and while our waitress was also the chef and quite a nice individual, she was also a bit confused. So I will keep looking for another place to enjoy Moroccan food, and in the meantime eat at friends or cook it myself. Oh well.

The food was good. You get a ton of it which is awesome! The décor is nice. My 3 stars is definitely for the service. We had to ask for silverware, I had to go up and get hot sauce after asking for it and it was generally just slow.

This is an interesting place. The food was very tasty and the ambiance was nice. The waitress could’ve told us that we were ordering too much, but the food was very tasty anyway. We ordered an appetizer plate which was actually two plates, one with ground beef and chicken, the other one with humus with a combination of parsley, garlic, tomatoes and olive oil in the center, which when combined with the humus and freshly made pita bread made for a very aromatic combination. Then came the pizza with feta cheese and artichokes, also delicious. We ordered a calzone filed with pepperoni for our 7-year old, but it was too big for her alone, so we ended up sharing. The outside was smeared with pesto sauce which, when combined with the cheese and pepperoni inside, made for an incredibly satisfying flavor.

Fantastic Moroccan and great location. The Moroccan chicken dish is delish, as well as a few plates on the menu. Will go back again.

Picked up a take out order. They couldn’t verify if I made the payment or not. I did pay online when I placed an order. Food is okay too.

Friends canceled a dinner date/business meeting due to illness, so I queried Unilocal for an idea. Saw the reviews and said ok… now it is somewhat tiny on the outside, but bigger on the inside. Great feel. Truly family runned. Had their specialty lamb with dried fruit, rice, and flat bread. HEAVEN… oh my lord. .this was truly a delight. Use the flat bread to scoop the food, and marvel at the exquisite tastes. WARNING come hungry, you won’t be disappointed. Yes, I am an easy grader… but where’s the 10 star option! !!!

My parents and I came here on Mother’s Day for lunch because of its proximity to my workplace but also because of its 4.5 star rating. We shared a hummus plate, while I got the Feta Cheese Sandwich, my mom the Greek Salad, and my dad the Shawarma Plate. I believe he got the Lamb Shawarma Plate, but me being a pesscetarian, I could be mistaken. =] Regardless, we all absolutely loved our food. The hummus we shared was fresh and mixed with just the right amount of oil, and the bread was large, steamin’ hot, and paired perfectly with the hummus. My mom and I don’t eat meat, so we ordered the veggie sandwich and salad, and we were both fans of the creamy feta and olives that came with both. The dimly lit, quiet atmosphere was also really enjoyable. Last, there’s a really cute bar by the kitchen, and the service was great. I plan on coming back with a some coworkers and friends!

Artichoke chicken stew was great. Bread was a little doughy. Almost undercooked. Boy liked the falafel sandwich. The Moroccan chicken was not as well dosed with olive and lemon as I would have liked. Service was OK. The cocktail list has a half dozen unique cocktails. I tried the cucumber mint martini, which was pretty good. It could have used a touch of sweet and more lime.

We were pretty hungry and dropped into another downtown locale for lunch. Sadly they were in between menus. I checked Unilocal and saw Tangier was rated high, and as a fan of all things Morocco, it fit the occasion. Had some mint tea = delicious. I ordered couscous and meat = super delicious. My husband had chicken = so yummy. The bread served as my spoon/fork and did the trick. I heard a «saha» shared from the owner to some guests and was instantly taken back to Fez/Rabat and my Peace Corps days in Tunisia. This is dangerously close to my office too! We will be back!

Delicious Mediterranean food, the friendliest waiters, and great prices will have me coming back to Tangier next time I’m in Portland! We had the vegetarian mezza platter, the chicken shawarma sandwich, and the foul medammas. All were delicious(especially the tzatziki, baba, and humus on the platter). We loved the giant, fresh, piping hot pita that came with the meal! My only complaint is that the music was extremely loud when we came in, but they turned it down somewhere in the middle of our delicious meal, so it turned out okay!

I have to give this establishment a five-star rating I must admit I never thought I would like this type of food however I was amazed when we first walked in we were a little bit sketchy based on the location and the place was empty as we sat there the place filled up and the food was out of this world the service was perfect priced right, the atmosphere was great we actually ordered soup twice we will be back again and again.

The spices they use in their food are the best! Very delicious and authentic food, their meat combo over hummus is my favorite

We just stumbled into this place after a stroll through Saturday Market lead by promises of good vegetarian and vegan food. We had the vegetarian mezza and the vegetable kabob. I gotta say, everything was great. I’d also suggest the Moroccan tea for something pretty different and interesting. The place is well designed, the family vibe from the service staff is warm and the general experience was very pleasant. Whatever you do, don’t leave until you have sampled the fresh baked pita and hummus.

The lamb is to die for. The rice is buttery and soft. Pita bread is hot. This place gets it. No weird fusion. No modern takes on a classical dish. Just normal, flavorful Mediterranean food. Maybe this is why this place was empty? We went on a Thursday night and the place was DEAD. We were the only people there. As we were leaving, another couple walked in. It’s always kinda weird to eat in a restaurant when you are the only patrons. Service was good… a little on the slow side. I credit this to them trying to be polite and not harass the only customers. I hope this place survives. Will definitely be back.

We love this place. One of the best Mediterranean places we have around. Many people would say that there are fancier places for the same cuisine around and I would agree with them. What makes this place 5 stars for me is, of course, the food and the all day happy hour that they run which gives you the ability to sample many different things at a small cost and small portion. So you enjoy different flavors without hurting the wallet or the waist. Haha What to try here? For vegetarians: have the Zaatar and Shatta pizza from the happy hour menu. The falafel and the hummus are very good too. They have a veggie sandwich that some of my friends like. Meat eaters/lovers: you have plenty to eat here. Choose whatever you want, I have not been disappointed yet. The chicken and lamb shawarma are delicious. So is the lamb shank which is a speciality of this place. The place has a bar and serves alcohol. I have not sampled their bar yet but I usually get the Moroccan mint tea. It is sweet and tasty. Try it.

We wanted to venture downtown for a date night, and were looking for somewhere new to try. I had Tangier bookmarked, as the reviews were pretty outstanding. I have to hand it to the Unilocal community, spot on with this little gem! We started with the Lebney appetizer which came with the freshest, fluffiest, most delicious pita bread dare I say I’ve ever had!?! It was also the biggest pita I’ve ever been served, larger than a platter! I’ve never had Labneh(Labney) accompanied by cucumber, tomato, and onion before, but it was awesome to have those few fresh add-ons. The labney was good, it could’ve used a little salt, more olive oil, and a dash of zatar or some other seasoning… but I can’t complain much. Against better judgment(or the screaming voice of my inner vegetarian) I decided to order the Meat Mezza as did my other half. It consisted of: Kafta(basically dried overcooked hamburger on a stick, not my thing personally) Chicken Shawarma(I generally love shawarma but this version had too many spices I’ve never had before in shawarma including cinnamon… it just didn’t flow right with the rest of the Mediterranean themed dish, too«spicy» and not in the hot sense). Falafel(very well balanced and seasoned, I wished there was more of it!) Hummus(so smooth and creamy, drizzled with olive oil, accompanied by another generous fresh and hot pita bread– yummo!) Tabouli(by far the best tabouli I’ve EVER had, and so fresh. The chop of the parsley was perfect!) Grape leaf aka«dolma»(yes, yes, yes, I wished I had a plate of these! Until now I’ve never had them served hot, but I’m totally okay with it. They were so flavorful, the seasoning was perfect, and the rice was delicious inside). And I saved the best for last, the reason that you should visit this restaurant, if there was only one item I could tell you not to leave without trying it’s by far the baba ghannouj. I have never had baba that has made me love eggplant the way that this baba has. It is the smoothest, creamiest, most delectable, smoky, scrumptiousness I’ve ever had. I have been dreaming of this baba(seriously who dreams of eggplant!?!) since the day it met my mouth. I can’t wait until we meet again… and again… and again!!! Next time I’m having the Vegetarian Mezza, I already know I love 75% of it, so I’m stoked to try a few more awesome things! We left this place for a little under $ 40, and a nice to-go box filled to the rim.

This was our favorite restaurant in Portland! Everything — ambiance, service, price, value, and especially FOOD — they nailed it. You can’t go wrong with anything from the Moroccan Traditional Dishes section(or anything else, really.) I ordered the Tagine of Lamb w/dried fruits, which came with a ginormous lamb leg, prunes, almonds, and apricots in a glaze-like gravy. The flavors came together perfectly, and the meat was so tender it fell off the bone before I could stick the fork all the way through! Even better, the leg contained a nice big helping of bone marrow. The Tagine of Chicken was equally tender and flavorful. Their sides are not to be missed. The lentil soup with meat had a generous amount of lamb and the soup was bright, colorful, creamy and tasty. The dishes came with a huge piece of bread that was puffed up like a balloon that was refillable. Main dishes are filling, and no more than $ 15. Sides were pretty cheap too. They have a big room in the back that groups can reserve. I’m surprised this place wasn’t packed on a Friday night given how good, reasonably priced, and tastefully decorated it is!

This restaurant is an absolute gem. We abandoned our plan to eat only seafood while in Portland and decided to try this Moroccan restaurant, which is one of our favorite foods. I went for a bunch of appetizers: humus, cabbage rolls, falafel, and shwarma chicken. Wow, everything was simply outstanding. The hummus was excellent, the cabbage rolls were excellent, the falafel and shwarma chicken were among the best I ever had. Add some fresh, super light pita bread and you have yourself a feast. They have happy hour prices all day so I ordered from that menu and the prices were very reasonable. The hummus and cabbage rolls for example were only $ 2.99 and the falafel only $ 1. The wife got the lamb shank with dried fruits and it was unbelievably tender and juicy. The meat fell off the bone, and the flavor was nothing short of phenomenal. She was groaning in ecstasy as she worked her way through the shank. The service was spot on and friendly. I don’t understand the unfavorable reviews and think those people may be difficult in any setting. This restaurant is an absolute must-try when you are in Portland. You will not regret it.
