History

Established in 1997.

Summit Funding was founded in 1997 by President and CEO, Todd Scrima, for the sole purpose of creating a better way for buyers to obtain home loans. Todd wanted to build a company fully committed to employing a team of Home Loan Experts. Loan Officers and Loan Managers that excel at delivering fast, high-​touch, and informative lending solutions. Summit’s customers can rest easy knowing they selected the right company to best meet their home ownership goals.

Meet the Manager

Mark A.

Manager

Mark is the leader of his team and has lived in Portland since 1977. He attended Grant High School in NE Portland and Willamette University in Salem graduating with a BS in Political Science/​Mathematics in 1990.

Mark has been in the mortgage industry since 1991. Although mortgages can be challenging at times, Mark truly enjoys helping our clients make educated financial decisions. Like his team, he takes great pride in doing everything possible to make sure transactions close on time with as little stress as possible.

Mark keeps the team on their toes with a wacky sense of humor and an energy level that would embarrass even the most Ritalin dependent toddler. His team never quite knows what is going to come out of his mouth next. Mark lives in NE Portland with his wife JJ, daughter Ella and two crazy Labradors that, while you are reading this, are likely racing around the house or the yard making a mess of things.

Mark and his team are absolutely incredible. Buying a house in Portland is stressful and scary– unless you have a team of people as good as Mark’s. We were referred to Team Aalto by our realtor and we feel so lucky to have had them taking care of our loan. My husband and I were delighted from our very first conversation with Mark and throughout the whole process we met a small handful of equally friendly people who explained everything to us in a way we could fully understand. I work in the film industry and I don’t work on any one production for longer than 8 months which can be tricky when applying for a loan. Team Aalto understood immediately the nature of my job and they were the only company we reached out to who didn’t require a co-​signer. We were impressed with the professionalism, communication, accuracy and urgency they displayed.

Mark and his team go above and beyond expectations and I would recommend them to everyone! They are knowledgable and honest, and they treat their clients as though they are their only clients in the world for 30 days. Mark was generous with his time– he helped us with a pre-​approval letter during odd weekend hours, took time to come to our signing, and called to check in every week. Mark and Team Aalto do their job very, very well!

My wife and I just closed on our first house and our experience with Team Aalto was superb. Mark and his gang of mortgage experts walked us through every step with kindness, intelligence and good humor. We got weekly check-​in calls from someone on the team and my ignorant email questions were answered quickly and with detail. On the rare occasion when I had to leave a voice mail the call was returned within the hour.

We had a fantastic experience working with Team Aalto. They are very genuine, hard workers, lots of integrity and just seem like good people. Buying a home was a confusing process, but they made it very easy to understand the mortgage process and our options.
Mark actually worked remotely while he was out of town on a Saturday to get us a pre-​approval letter. After our offer was accepted, the team was quick to send us our application paperwork and were quick to follow up on any needed items. They were always very clear about all information.
They also called us every Tuesday to give us an update, even if their wasn’t anything pending, just to make sure we were comfortable with the process and to see if we had any questions.
Mark showed up unprompted when we signed our closing docs and brought a bottle of sparkling wine.
Bottom line, I will recommend Team Aalto to my family and friends.
