The Cleaning Bug

Absolutely HORRIBLE. Impossible to get hold of. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. They lie to you, make promises they can’t deliver on. PLEASE USE ANYONE ELSE but these unscrupulous individuals. Totally ruined my holidays. Read all the other people who had complaints and if you use these people you deserve what you get.

I think anyone that purchased a coupon from Living social experience the same issue. On the day of the appointment I was told that the other person was sick and they could clean for only an hour, and I have to reschedule for another appointment, 3 month later I had another appointment with them, my husband arranged his schedule to be home (mind you most people get cleaning service because they are too busy to clean!!!) an hour before they were suppose to show up, i receive an email stating that one of the cleaner had an emergency and they have to reschedule, could I really be just this unluck to have two sick cleaners at different times or is this something else, like bad business practice. No to mention if you can not show up for a schedule appointment a phone call would be more appropriate than email, being that I didn’t receive the email til late and my husband could have been working. I figure 3^rd time is the charm, I was rescheduled again for the 3^rd time. this time, they actually showed up, 10 mins late with two almost teenage age cleaners, they did a substandard job cleaning the house, they didn’t even bother picking up anything off the floors just simply vacuumed around the boxes, not to mention they started cleaning up 30 min early and was out of the house 10min before the end of the scheduled 4 hours of cleaning, so in totally I got about 3hours and 10 mins of subpar cleaning service, needless to say we will be looking else where for a cleaning service.

Don’t waste your time and money! This company cancelled on me twice with less than 2 hours notice. I plan to report them to the better business bureau. I was told my team leader was sick the first time and there was a family emergency the second time. Sound familiar? See previous reviews. I don’t expect that they will ever honor the Living Social voucher I purchased from them.

My experience was basically along the same lines as the other 1 start reviews.
I bought the living social deal and scheduled a cleaning. It took several days before I was told everyone is sick so I needed to choose a different date. This was on Dec. 29^th. I was requested to choose a new date after Feb 13^th. Nearly 2 months after my initial cleaning request. I left multiple VM and emails indicating I would take any cancellations or the next available appointment.
3 weeks later I received a follow up email saying I was now out of the service area and they wouldn’t clean my house. No phone calls, weeks between emailed communication and no attempts to make it right. I received a refund through living social.

I used CB through the Living Social coupon I bought a few months back.
Simply put, they did a fantastic job using green products so the house didn’t smell like a bleach bucket. I had all the basics done, and they got through the whole list — I wasn’t there so I hope they didn’t leave early with time left to spare, but what guarantees can you make if you ask folks to get things done at your house when you’re not there?
It looks like there service has been varied in the past, so I’m hoping it wasn’t just luck that the two cleaners were spot on, because I plan on using them in the future. Some correspondence — a simple note — after their work was completed with how things went, if they did get the list done early, and any recommendations (easy sales technique for them) would have been appreciated, and have encouraged future use of Cleaning Bug.

Do not use this service. They are unreliable and have horrible customer service. If I was able to, I would give the cleaning bug a zero star rating. I made an appointment two months in advanced and they cancled an hour before the appointment time with no real explanation and many excuses. DO NOT COUNT ON THIS CLEANING SERVICE.

I had the 4 hour — $ 80 Living Social deal. It wasn’t worth it. They were timely and friendly, but we’re clean people overall. Our floors are already swept, counters wiped down, etc. So, I wanted someone to do the deeper, more difficult stuff and 4 hours should have been plenty of time to do it with an already clean house. But it was clear when they were finished (they left early) that they just had a routine and they didn’t really do much outside of it or pay attention to what needed done. Shower curtain still had all its hard water stains, bathroom floor still had mystery toiletry stain, stovetop still had staining around one burner, kitchen blinds still had splatter stains and sink still had rust stains. I think they must have mostly just gone over already clean areas. The only real difference was in one rarely used basement room that had become really gross and we didn’t want to deal with it.
So, if you’re a filthy person, they might be able to help you, but if you’re already pretty clean and need some real work done, you’ll probably be out of luck.

Is this company out of business??? I have called them 3 times this week, and left messages each time, with no response. I may have to call Living Social for a refund as this company is not responding to any of my calls… anyone else having issues getting ahold of them?

I regret having to leave this review. I was optimistic about my house cleaning. I too got a Living Social voucher. They said there’d be two cleaners for 1.5 hours. I have a small house, which is currently kept very tidy since it is on the market. The first thing I noticed when I got home is that main dining table which has a glass top had not been cleaned. My kid’s fingerprints and smudges and crumbs all over. I usually clean this up every morning but didn’t since the cleaners were coming. They did not clean the kitchen sink (was it because there was ONE glass in it??) They did not clean the surface of the toilet in our ONE bathroom. They did not move things to dust them. They did not clean window sills. They only cleaned some windows. I had been asked to give a «priority list». On there I had «Floors, Windows, Countertops, Everything else.» All that I could tell was done was sweep and mop the floors, vacuum, some windows cleaned, some things dusted. I do this regularly in about 30 minutes on my own. When I contacted the manager to ask what WAS done (remember, 2 people, 1.5 hours), I did not receive a response. I was told via email that they would refund my money or give me another cleaning with a different crew. I said I would accept another attempt at the cleaning. They never got back to me. Quite the bummer.

We had not one, but two very frustrating experiences with The Cleaning Bug. We purchased and scheduled three hours of cleaning for a day in July. On the day of the first scheduled cleaning, a man showed up and told me that his cleaning partner had suddenly become ill and gone home. The man said he also had to be somewhere else and would only be able to stay and clean for an hour, but would do it on the house. I was frustrated, as I anticipated having the house clean, but I understand things happen. He said someone would call me to reschedule.
No one called me, so the next week I called them. I scheduled a cleaning for a day on October, several months out. This time no one even showed up. We got a call from a woman, at the time they were scheduled to begin cleaning, telling us basically the same story again, someone had become sick and another person had a family tragedy and there was no way they could do the job.
I was irate. Once, I can understand, for this to happen two of two times is unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. The woman on the phone was unhelpful and insisted that the owner could not be contacted, which I find hard to believe.
The Cleaning Bug is an unreliable and possibly dishonest business. These are serious flaws in a home cleaning agency, from my point of view. I strongly recommend you look elsewhere for a house cleaning service.

I bought a living social deal for 4 hours of cleaning at half off ($ 80). I understand that they were probably overwhelmed by the calls due to this deal, but that’s really no excuse for cutting corners and simply doing a poor job.
I left a very detailed note outlining what I wanted done in order of importance (which they requested I do). My number one priority was my kitchen, which unfortunately seemed to get the least amount of attention. Clearly everything was just wiped down (not scrubbed), nothing was moved to clean under, floors were haphazardly swept and definitely not mopped. I had to re-​clean (sweep, dust, etc.) most of the house. I would not use this company again.

I purchased a 4 hour cleaning voucher via Living Social. I was apprehensive about even paying someone to clean our home, but since my third child was born it has been a struggle to keep on top of things, so I figured it was worth a shot. Plus, it was such a great deal!
First, I called their number but could never get an answer. The message says that email is more convenient, and even with an email it took several days for them to return my message. Even though I purchased a 4 hour cleaning, they asked if it would be okay to schedule me for 2 hours with 2 cleaners — which really is the same thing, so I agreed.
The first girl (Kate) showed up exactly as scheduled. She was friendly, and efficient. She did a fantastic job! She tackled everything on our list, and took care of it in the priority I listed on the note. The other cleaner, however, was an hour late. So, I ended up only getting one cleaner for two hours, and another for one — which is three hours, not he four I paid for. When you are selling a service, I think it is important to provide the entire time that a person pays for — otherwise, it is stealing. I paid for four hours, I got three hours. They didn’t offer to give me my hour back (or my money).
Despite that, I was willing to give them another chance, as I wanted to hire Kate again for the week before we have out family members visiting from out of the country. I called the Cleaning Bug, and told them that even though one of their cleaners was an hour late I was willing to use their service again if they could send over the girl that I was confident would provide me with the service I paid for. The lady who does scheduling said she would check with the owner. The answer was ‘no’. They didn’t even apologize, or even flinch really, when I relayed the experience we had with the other girl.
Hiring this company is a gamble. You could get a great result, or a really bad result — but considering the owner seems completely uninterested in even attempting to provide good customer service, or ensuring that his employees even show up to do the job, I will take my money elsewhere in the future.

I had a different experience from the previous reviewer, which is to be expected. I imagine that the cleaning depends on the people you get. I believe one woman’s name was Anya. They did such a terrific job and were very pleasant people. Seeing as though they are local and have great labor practices, I will hire them again. Thanks everyone.
