A very cute and comfortable cozy spot — perfect for a casual night with friends or a date. Great atmosphere and a really handsome waiter.

A veg place without veg place attitude, just a cool pub. Good margaritas, good happy hour deals, good food, good service. Good time.

Try the nachos, and get their spicy Coconut Habanero Margarita(maybe it’s Jalapeño?). Also try some tequila with a Verdita Chaser

I’m not sure how I could driven past this place & never have noticed them before! We went there for happy hour & the margaritas & nachos were on point. Dim lights, juke box, amazing nachos, great service– what more can a gal ask for? We will be back! Looking forward to nights on the patio come Summertime. Cheers!

Had both the nachos and rice and bean bowl, which was too much for one person. Place could be less dark. What I ordered was good. They needed another serviceperson. I’d go back.

Hands down, i love my meat but this is the best vegetarian restaurant i have ever been to! I got dragged over here in the middle of no where(residential area) to have dinner. and to my surprise, i loved everything that we ordered. Happy hour? Woot, woot! Guava margarita is just wow! I’m a sapphire and tonic kind of girl, but i gave their happy hour gin and tonic a try, to my surprise it’s pretty good! They make their drinks WORTHIT! All of the dishes that we ordered were great, especially the NACHOS! Hands down! The staff were really nice too! Considering they’re busy. Totally recommending!

What a gem of a place. I was a little apprehensive knowing they do not serve meat. Meat is the cornerstone of all food in my book and a staple in my diet. Now it was a great place! The atmosphere was very swanky funky quiet low lit and perfect for an evening set of drinks and food. We enjoyed some wonderful nachos with fresh ingredients, all made from scratch including the delicious chips. They were huge and yummy. We also had the fried plantains that were delicious. I would suggest both of these items. For Drinks we had a Hot Cider with Bourbon and we heard the Spanish Coffees were also good and yes both drinks were. The staff was awesome, always checking on us and they knew their food very well. Great attitudes were a plus. Check this place out, I can’t wait to come back and use the patio too, but I love the swanky interior of the 70’s so it might be hard to go outside.

LOVE this place! After the closing of the Matador and Backspace I was feeling a definite void of some good nachos. Most places are either gross, or ho-hum at best. I went to this place with a group of friends to check out their nachos and — this place has the BESTNACHOS, hands down! I went on a Thursday night… found myself there again the next night… then again the following Monday. The nachos are so good you crave them. The prices are reasonable, the vibe is chill(and they have a cool jukebox), and on top of having epic nachos their drinks delicious! I’m a whiskey/oldmandrinks drinker myself and found their take on the old fashioned, rusty nail AND sangria to be above par. Definitely going again — we’re obsessed!

Good food but the wait service sucked. She obviously neglected to put in our order, ignored us for a long time. We waited 50 minutes for appetizers and she made herself scarce for most of that time. No apology or update.

Not quite a dive bar, not quite a restaurant, but fun, affordable, good drinks, and good food.

Like the patio. Mushroom tacos are about as good as a vegetable in a taco will ever get. And that’s apparently pretty damned good. Nachos are great. Except why on earth is there some weird sriracha shit on them? What is with Portland and the misplaced srirach. Huge portion of delish otherwise, so grab two friends and share. And tell them to hold the srirach. I have struggled with Portland’s ability to make a margarita. All in all, there have been some of the best drinks in my life happening in this city, but margaritas not so much. That said, Conquistador nailed the margarita, real nicely. Note: coconut margarita is also thumbs up.

Where do I begin? I usually turn my nose up at flavored margaritas, as opposed to regular lime, but this place does not mess around. All of their margaritas are amazing, the coconut is killer. The nachos are HUGE and delicious. Not super hipster, super sweet people work here. The derive is always good and kind.

Love that i finally discovered this bar. The service is super friendly and they have the best nachos i’ve found in portland. The portions are beyond generous and they have a daily happy hour which is delightful! I haven’t eaten/drank anything here that wasn’t great. The vibe is awesome and I love that they have free pool & shuffle board

Absolutely Incredible! When my husband and I were in Portland for a summit, we decided on a whim to organize a vegan food crawl. This place was our third and final stop, which we planned on purpose so that we could linger after if we wanted. I called about six days ahead, again, bc it was all on a whim, and was put in touch with the owner. Because of the size of our group, having a set menu was important and a set price as well. When we arrived and were greeted and seated, an awesome bartender came over to take care of us. Good looking man(who the ladies fawned over) with class and menu knowledge. I ordered the Coconut Margarita and the bartender suggested a shot of some kind of green lime-cilantro juice to go with it. He was so right!!! It was absolutely everything!!! Our empanadas were just as good as the margaritas– the spinach especially! And the beans and rice were so much more than just beans and rice. I cannot even begin to explain. Go here. Eat here. Drink here. It’s worth it!

Best. Nachos. Ever. The end. No, not really the end, this place just oozes awesomeness and some damn fine margaritas that are only $ 5.00 on the happy hour menu. Our visit on National Tequila Day was superb and I felt it was my duty to do our nation proud by having as many margaritas as possible. The bartenders there are super nice and efficient even when really busy. Back to the nachos. They are served on a huge platter and piled so high they are almost like a Jenga game. The guacamole is fresh with chunks of avocado, the perfect amount of spice and no onions. Thank you for not fucking up the guacamole with onions. That pile is also loaded with jalapeños, cheese, cilantro, olives, tomatoes and sour crème. The humongous platter is only $ 8.50 and can feed a small army. I got mine with no onion and was swooning. Just so you know, you order your food at the bar and they give you a number to display on your table. It didn’t take them very long to deliver the food once ordered. Another cool thing is that the old school jukebox is free. There’s a nice covered patio out front and the medieval artwork is just so rad. Channel your inner conquistador and come pillage and plunder a fortress of nachos. The end. 2015 — Review # 46

Alright so this place, is pretty good! They have quite a big of sitting room so you and your group should be able to find a table, inside or out. The only bad thing about sitting outside is that they do allow smoking. Supposedly only at some tables because some are posted as non-smoking, but people were smoking at the non-smoking tables too. We had been sitting outside and moved inside because everyone was smoking in the non-smoking section. Inside it’s kinda of sticky and stinky. Which is expected from a bar, right? It smells like mildewy smoke. But you get used ot it. The décor is cool, spanish conquistador(duh). They have mexican food like nachos and beans and rice etc. It cool because they have a pretty good menu for a such a bar atmosphere. The happy hour is totally great! The nachos were BOMB, but don’t make the mistake I made. I asked for«nachos, for happy hour!» when I ordered, and the waiter ended up ordering me the full sized non happy hour nachos because I didn’t ask for the«poquito nachos.» When I had asked about it he said it was 100% my fault, with slight attitude. I’m sorry, I didn’t know. Oh well, it happens. They were still amazing. They also have 4 different types of salsa, we tried the pico and the house, pica was good, not the freshest, and the house was just like a regular salsa, not too spicy or anything. Overall, pretty good. We will be back, especially for Margarita Mondays! $ 5 Margaritas during happy hour. + 1 hour extended.

The Conquistador is now open for brunch on Sundays! Finally a place on Belmont to go that has good food, great drinks, and amazing atmosphere. Who doesn’t want to set on the patio! I love the Benedict Conquistador and The Spanish French toast is amazing. The staff is friendly, and the music is great. Either an amazing jukebox selection or a live DJ. Great place to meet friends, and spend the afternoon.

Their nachos are delicious and extremely generous in portion. They offer a sizable outdoor seating section that faces the sidewalk. Draws an interesting mishmash of people. Pool table and shuffleboard table in the back. HH deals are great. Interior is darkly lit and offers plentiful seating. Conquistador has become my default after work joint or whenever I want to get a drink without venturing far from home.

I love love love the Conquistador. It’s on Belmont and, essentially, 21st. They have a front patio and a roll-up door in the summers. In the back, there is a loft up the stairs with couches, video games, and pin-ball. Their layout is easy to navigate and walk around. Sometimes when it gets really busy on the weekends, the place gets packed. They have beautiful and sweet servers who are always smiling. But I have noticed that if you give them attitude, they return it. As they should! Don’t be a d*** to your bartender. The crowd is what I would call Southeast Grunge. They are not always the nicest and inviting, but cool once you break the iron gates. Take a chance, dive in.
