I got sick and tried to reschedule just for the same show the next week which they had openings in. They told me no reschedules unless I want to pay $ 15 a person. Not sure how this will help business. Now I will never try their company out and it looks like by the other reviews it is a good thing.

As my previous review states, customer service responded quickly and resolved the problem. This review is for the Show/Dinner. I’ll start by saying that paying full price is definitely not worth the money and at half price I am not sure if I would go again. I kept thinking good thing my husband declined to come. If it was not for my friend getting picked to be part of the show, I would have settled on two stars. When you arrive you have your picture taken. You can purchase this later for $ 20. Pass. Our dinner consisted of a plain Ice Berg Lettuce Salad with dressing and 5 croutons. I ate half. Dinner was pasta with choice of 3 different tomato toppings(mine was Gluten Free and the pasta was very good)…but the rest… again I did not even eat half. The best part of the dinner was the warm sourdough bread and the spumoni ice cream. One person at eat table is picked to be in the show and the table works together as a group to find out clues on ‘Who done it’. It was actually a lot of work to go around on two occasions and ‘interrogate’ the players for clues. 100 people doing this at the same time was not expected. Others may enjoy this kind of atmosphere and social engagement. My friend and I were pretty tire in the end.

Sorry, but I prefer not to pay fifty-two bucks to see and experience a very disorganized high school production of I-don’t-even-know-what. The dinner was so-so, although the wait staff did a very good job. With all the extremely talented actors and performers in Portland, I do not recommend that you waste your time or money on this little mess.

Great Shows, but they have horrible customer service. I had to reschedule my show and they wanted to charge me an additional $ 30. I also let the merchant know way before 24 hours in advance when canceling. A bummer for sure. Really low quality food.

I went to one of these shows via Living Social thing, and all I can say is I’m glad it was half price. It was not my kind of thing at all. It is corny and the food was horrible. If you are into dressing up, corny, bad food, and socializing the whole time then its for you. I was envisioning it to be totally different.

When does an experience deserve a «A for effort?» Seldom, in my observation. But such is the case for the Portland Murder Mystery, held at the Refectory Restaurant numerous times each month. The mystery theme was«Til Death» — a take on a wedding day gone wrong. Somebody might end up dead! The evening includes a 3 course dinner and the entertainment, drinks and tips are extra. Some members of the«cast» are chosen from the tables of diners, and each is given a bit of background information on their character and the caper. During the course of the evening, participants can wander from table to table, play investigator, ask questions, to seek out clues to solve the mystery. It’s fun, it’s live, it’s interactive. You can participate or observe. Dinner was what one might expect from a banquet type facility, good enough for a situation like this. There was a choice of three entrees, pork, chicken, or vegetarian lasagna, served with salad, bread basket, and dessert. Service was good. Mrs. Burgerdogboy had arranged our evening, and had some trepidation about how receptive I’d be — as I tend to live a hermit like existence. But I enjoyed it. I’d go again. You should too. The Portland Mystery Theater performs regularly, and is also available for private parties and corporation functions. Check out their schedule or book an event on their website.
