WALGREENS on 39^th Avenue and Holgate in Portland: Bleaugh. These people are SO not into customer service — especially the ones in the Pharmacy department. Scenario: I’m sick as a dog right now… I need a refill before tomorrow morning or I’ll lose lung capacity. There’s almost four hours left before they close. I call for a refill because I’ve been so sick the last few days, I just spaced. They tell me they can do it by tomorrow later in the day. I explain I have bronchitis and need my lung medication really badly. Female pharmacy rep says «You should have thought of that sooner. There’s nothing I can do.» This is not the first time this pharmacy treated me like this. They are SERIOUSLY devoid of any compassion, nor do they give one toss about people in general. I once was on hold for 45 minutes, with the recording that said «You are the next caller» and then I find out they had a LUNCH break but didn’t bother to change their voice mail message. Seriously. What’s happening to customer service these days? Giant corporations’ greed and uncaring attitude trickles down to these pharmacy drones who have zero concept on how to do their job properly.

I was dropping off more prescriptions for my mom she asked if these were for me. I said no my mom and we just found out she has cancer. she said i could notice sadness in your voice. I wish I could reach across the counter and give you a hug.
That was the best thing that happen to me all day

This is by far the worst pharmacy I have ever been to. This pharmacy is what I picture hell to be like. You will sit in the drive through for a good 15 to 20 min before anyone acknowledges you. And you will be the only car. They never have the perscription ready. They are rude and completely clueless. Terrible customer service. I feel pretty confident in saying this is the worst pharmacy in Portland. Quite possibly all of Oregon.

PHARMACY– They always forget my prescription, I only have one, and it’s prepackaged and fairly common. Yet when I call it in they never seem to have it ready. They can’t even manage to set up the auto reminder correctly. But they’re always ready to make up excuses. If you can help it go somewhere else
STORE– I have no beefs with them, they’re always helpful.

I love that this Walgreens is 24 hours, you can pick up prescriptions in the middle of the night even other things that you need like personal items, lubricants, condoms and yeast infection creams.
The always have great weekly deals.
Employees are typical ya know the oh boring «welcome to Walgreens» greeting!

This is for the pharmacy, not the rest of the store, although I don’t find what I need there a lot of the time. At this point I think they’re trying to lose my business on purpose. The amount of time I’ve wasted on the phone, on hold, waiting for prescriptions, mess ups, etc. has been appalling. I’ll be looking for a new pharmacy now. I don’t write this to be terrible, I’ve given then 2 years and it’s only gotten worse. At this point it’s shame on me for continuing to go here.

This is for the PHARMACY ONLY… so slow with prescriptions and half the time their drive thru is closed. They are always short staffed (they have even mentioned it) making it so inconvenient. I switched to another Walgreens that has a very fast turnaround.

Walgreens is one of a small percentage of pharmacies that does not accept Cover Oregon health insurance. You can go to Riteaid, Fred Meyer and even Costco and they will honor this insurance plan but I guess folks who need affordable health care are not good enough to have their insurance accepted by this elitist company. I just switched my prescriptions today to Fred Meyers because two fucking meds cost me over $ 100 God damned dollars and will not be giving them anymore of my business. Shame on you Walgreens!

Store manager Kevin was super helpful helping us to get a coupon price for a medication we needed. We really appreciated him working so hard and providing great customer service!

I love this Walgreens, you are always greeted the moment you walk in (I never get this at other Walgreens). I mostly come here for personal items or prescriptions. Whenever I check out in the ‘beauty dept’ I always have a great visit, the employees are always cheerful. Diane is sooo sweet, she always tries to find coupons for me and always helps me out. I would give this store 5 stars but the pharmacy can sometimes take a while…

Since moving from Chicago to Portland, the number of Walgreens that I visit has dropped significantly. I have no problem with that.
Walgreens stores don’t give me a whole lot of wiggle room when it comes to Unilocal reviews. The fact of the matter is that most Walgreens are okay. They’re unremarkable in almost every way but are convenient and usually have what you’re looking for as long as you’re looking for something basic.
So if you’re in this neighborhood and you are looking for something basic (or a pharmacy), this place is ok. It’s clean-​ish, service is fine-​ish, the parking lot is big-​ish. I don’t know. It’s fine. Ish.

Moved to the neighborhood a few months ago, usually stop in here for little stuff. I haven’t had any dealings with the pharmacy, but the rest of the staff is really friendly.

Distopic and a bit creepy. Great if you’re into that sort of thing.

This is a review of their newly remodeled pharmacy, and part of my unfortunately necessary ‘Pharmacy Phail’ series.
First, I’m giving one star because that’s the minimum available, and then another because they did, eventually, fill my prescription.
The remaining three available are not going to be awarded, for the following reasons:
Mine was a straightforward case. I needed to pick up a prescription, for which I had the paperwork. It wasn’t anything odd, or controlled. Nevertheless, it took a series of three employees 20 minutes to figure out how to use their computer to dispense it. I want to be clear, that the prescription was in their hand all the time, they were not putting it together, they were trying to figure out how to use their computer.
One of them finally figured it out, then I had to wait another 5 minutes for the pharmacist to tell me that I needed to follow the instructions printed on the bottle.
BTW — in their remodel, they hired a designer who believes strongly in the color wheel, consequently every photo is hypergraded in orange and teal, giving their ‘healthy’ models a jaundiced look. Someone should talk to the photo guy about dialing down the saturation and color options.

I drug my feet ordering photo enlargements for various holiday presents this year.
I strolled into Walgreens around 5PM on a weekday, pressed a few buttons on the self-​serve photo kiosk, and was told it’d be ready for pick up in 30 minutes.
The lady at the photo desk suggested I look over my prints before purchase.
«Oh!» I exclaimed, «They’re a little orange…»
«Wow, yeah they are!» She replied, «I can fix that, just give me a minute.»
She tweaked the color balance and printed out a new set right away.
I applaud her patience and willingness to go out of her way to help me, as well as the customer behind me, perfect our enlargements.
I wish there was an option for matte photo paper, but maybe I should have considered that ahead of time instead of procrastinating.

Walgreens has always been a strange store to me. It reminds me of a cross between Plaid Pantry & Dollar Tree. A little bit of everything. I never really shop here because of the lack of selection for my life. Did score a 20 pack of cheap pens ($ 1.99) for work. Like most convenience stores, Walgreens has a nit-​ch and that for me is sales on toiletries or emergency purchases. Plenty of parking and a clean store with friendly employee’s is a big draw for Walgreens.

Pharmacy too busy to fill prescriptions.
I attempted to call in a prescription at 9:15 PM for my husband. The pharmacist very snootily told me that I would have to bring the prescription in before hanging up on me.
So, my husband went to the pharmacy at arrived there at 9:30. The pharmacist told him he was too busy to help him and he would need to go elsewhere.
The pharmacy doesn’t close until 10pm. I would be more understanding if I hadn’t called beforehand. He could’ve told me that he was too busy to fill anymore prescriptions for the evening, rather than allowing us to drive there just to be turned away.
We typically go to Pharmaca, but my husband had a late dental surgery because he’s part of a study group. He was just going to wait until they were open tomorrow but I didn’t want him to go the night without pain medication.
He ended up driving to another Walgreens, further away from where we live, in order to fill his prescription.

Good hours, this place usually has what I need.
I get pictures printed here and the quality is pretty decent.
Parking is good.
The service is hit or miss, sometimes they don’t have enough staff that I have to track them down. But they are always friendly.

Oh Walgreens.
You have a penchant for attracting the best of humanity (and the worst).
Let me count they ways in which I love you:
1.) Your happy little (not open 24 hours) store on the corner of Holgate & 39^th is close to my house.
2.) You have a rewards card program that gives me discounts on everything from wart removal medicine to boxes of candy.
3.) Your drive-​through pharmacy window provides us with endless entertainment.
4.) Your prices are consistently fair, sometimes amazingly affordable.
I am sure there’s more!
I wish you would be open 24 hours.

Breaking news, people. They have beer and wine. And with very little announcement or fanfare! The apocalypse may be right around the corner.
Unrelated story: there were a couple of years when I stopped into this Walgreens at least four mornings a week, in a huge rush to get change for the bus, or grab a juice, or something like that. The bus stop is right out front at 39^th and Holgate.
Don’t know why, don’t know what I did to deserve it, but there was one particular checker there who decided early on to just start f*cking with me.
She could sense my urgency. She would turn, as to check for the bus coming (which she could not see, the window is up too high) and ask, «Oh, are you waiting for the bus?» Every. Damn. Time. When I said yes, every time, she’d then go into snail mode and suddenly that was the perfect time to slowly walk around the counter and fix a Snickers bar that was askew. Or pick up a receipt on the floor to dispose of in the trash at another register. And take ten times as long as necessary to complete my transaction, waiting until she heard those bus brakes.
Then she’d hover her hand over mine, holding my change hostage, until my very necessary 7:43 am #17 bus pulled away. «Looks like you’ll have to catch the next one», she’d say. At this point, I could feel my face get hot, thinking, «Again! She got me again! I am late for work… AGAIN!»
This bizarre, inexplicable power play went on for years. Basically an unwritten Seinfeld episode, it remains to this day an unsolved mystery of my life.
She still works there. She totally remembers me. When I see she’s the checker, I run to the cosmetics counter and pray to baby Jesus there’s a cashier there.
Outside of this ridiculous trauma some random cashier decided to inflict on my life, it’s a pretty good Walgreens. Great clearance bins, well-​stocked, really nice pharmacists.
