The Cake Place

The bad was that I didn’t like the butter crème/​sugar frosting more because of the nature of that kind of frosting; heavy and sugar laden. The marble cake was really, really good. I haven’t had a cake this moist and fulfilling in years. Not too sweet.

I called The Cake Place last minute on Wednesday ⁵⁄₂₇ in hopes of getting cake for a friend’s birthday. I explained that I was driving down from NYC and needed help. JJ was great! She chuckled at how I was so last minute but was so very very helpful. I kept her informed of my trip on Thursday and when my husband and I arrived the cake was ready.
Not only was it beautiful and in my girlfriend’s wedding colors (because she was ALSO getting married that week) but there was also great edible glitter. What girl doesn’t love glitter!
The woman who greeted us was also lovely with the greatest customer service and Southern hospitality. The taste was out of this world!!! The cake was amazingly almond-​y, and moist. The raspberry filling was delicious. My only «complaint» is I wish there was more filling!!!
Thank you JJ and your team for amazing service and an amazing cake. I wish I lived near by to order your cakes for every occasion!

I walked in and was greeted by the owner as well as the customers that she was serving. She welcomed me and let me know that she would be with me shortly. As I waited another customer came in and we talked for a few. When it was my turn to place my order she took her time with me to get all of the details correct. I went in with no idea of that type of cake I wanted for my daughters 14^th birthday. She was able to make my cake for me with 3 day notice. (Most people wanted 1 week notice for the same type of cake) An hour later we completed my order. I like the fact that she stayed past her closing time to help me. She didn’t try to rush me because it was closing time. I really like that. As I was leaving she offered me a almond cupcake. OMG It was Sooooo Good. On pick-​up day My cake looked better than I imagined and my daughter was excited. It tasted better than it looked. I also purchased some cupcakes on that day that were just as good as the first day I tried them. I will definitely be a return customer to The Cake Place!

If I could give THE CAKE PLACE a zero star rating, I would do just that. Since I can’t, one star will have to suffice. This review is related specifically to the service.
My mom absolutely adores the almond cupcakes here with the buttercream frosting. Since I adore her, I will pop in here occasionally and get her a couple.
First things first. No matter who is at the front counter, they are always rude. If I’m coming into your establishment, you need to open your mouth and speak to me. Last time I was in there I stood and waited FIFTEEN MINUTES for the owner (older African American lady, short hair) to have a conversation on the phone discussing scholarships and financial aid for her children. I’m all for education, but lady I need you to get off the phone, put it on the HOOK and assist me. Other times, the owner has had her children at the front half-​a$$ waiting on customers and they don’t know what they are doing and they are also rude (I guess rudeness runs in the family) And it’s not only me that they are rude too, I have witnessed them be rude to other customers in my presence (don’t want anyone to feel left out I guess) They’ve messed up my simple cupcake order by running out of cupcakes and giving me strawberry cupcakes without telling me (only noticed it when I opened the box at home) and I’ve also witnessed on two occasions other customers who ordered/​specified a cake to look a certain way and the cake looked totally different and when confronted about it, the owners were immediately defensive and refused to take responsibility. Bottom line. This a poorly run establishment. It makes no sense to spend your hard earned money at places like this that don’t appreciate your business.
