I can not say enough about these guys. Outstanding service. I had my alternator replace less than six months ago at Sun Devil in Phoenix when I broke down with no tools on hand and it crapped out on me yesterday morning (Couldn’t get to work, school or fly). Every other place in Prescott was booked including Sun Valley but they offered to try and get me in asap. The Shop in Phoenix wanted me to have the car towed down there or bring in the part to be tested in order to get my new alternator that was cover under warranty (It would have costed me an arm and a leg) Don (the owner) personally called down there and handled the situation and had the new alternator shipped up here at no expense to me. Ben (manager) kept me in the loop every step of the way. If that’s not impressive I don’t know what is. I personally like to turn wrenches and I have many friends that do it professionally and I will tell you hands down its tough work and you won’t find many people in the industry like these guys. I’ve been all over the country I know what I’m talking about. If you need to get some work done please go to these guys even if you need to wait a day. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Honestly if you don’t it’s your loss. As long as I live in the area Sun Valley has my loyalty. Great people, great price and outstanding service. Thanks a ton guys.

FIVE STARS IS NOT ENOUGH!!! The owner Dan Otto went out of his way to help me diagnose a problem I was having with my Toyota 4Runner. He then guided me in the most economical way to resolve the problem at a fraction of the cost of a dealership repair. If you are looking for a honest and reasonably priced auto repair shop check out Sun Valley Tire & Repair in Prescott Valley.

This auto repair shop is the real deal! I live in the Phoenix, AZ area and was driving to Prescott on business on Saturday, 12÷5÷15. My car broke down on Highway 69 headed toward Prescott and I pulled over at Milepost 268 between the Mayer Fire Dept and Creekside Lodge and Cabins. AAA towed my car to Sun Valley Tire & Auto Service in Prescott Valley and a buddy of mine picked me up and drove me into Prescott. Later, I was driven back to Sun Valley Tire and was told my car would be ready by 3:00 PM. At 2:00 PM, I was told another problem was discovered. These fantastic mechanics and staff did everything they could to resolve the issue, even staying past closing. My car remained undriveable and was told I had to leave it and come back for it after Monday. I needed to return to Phoenix for work by 5;00 PM. One of the front desk men, Scott Magnusen, volunteered to drive me all the way back to Phoenix for my job! Now that’s going the extra mile and that’s what everyone at Sun Valley Tire does. They know how to treat the customer right! By Tuesday, their crack team of highly skilled and dedicated mechanics resolved the issue and I drove back up with my youngest son to get my car. When I got there, there was a small issue with the «check engine» light which mechanics Wes and Ruben quickly resolved. Seldom have I experienced such service from an auto repair team such as Sun Valley Tire & Auto Service. I commend owner, Don Otto, for leading such a team of fantastic men dedicated to taking such complete care of their customers. I am grateful to front desk men, Scott and Benn, mechanics Wes and Ruben and all the wonderful employees on Sun Valley Tire & Auto Service.

These guys rock! While passing through Prescott Valley, I got a flat tire. My spare turned out to be defective. I took the car to Sun Valley Tire. They didn’t have the right replacement, so Don Otto called all the nearby tire places to find one. No luck (apparently it is an unused a size). So Don managed to find someone to bring a replacement tire from Phoenix (two hours away) and get me back on the road by lunchtime. Thanks Don!

In late September, my fiancée and I started our drive from California to Ohio (with my parents driving our other vehicle). Maybe 20 miles out from Prescott Valley at around 6:30pm her car’s battery light on the dash board lights up after stopping for fuel. OUR FIRST DAY on a 3 – 4 day trip. I drove as the sun was setting with everything we could think of electrical off, thinking the alternator went bad and we weren’t getting a charge, including head lights. We finally arrived at an auto parts store just as it was getting to the point where i really needed to turn on the headlights and discovered it was the water pump AND the alternator. Being so late in to the evening, every one was closed. So we got ourselves a hotel room for the night. Waking up bright and early, making phone calls to any one we can get a hold of to get us back on the road, we spoke with Don at Sun Valley. This guy is a life saver! He got us in there right away and had us back on the road by noon! We can’t thank you guys enough for how quickly and efficiently you all worked to get us back on our cross country trip. We had lost 8 hours of driving due to the issues, but getting taken care of so well really got us back into a positive mind set. Between the two of us we have almost 30 years of customer service experience, including management, so we do know a thing or two about giving a customer a great experience. So do these guys! The employees of this facility are amazing, hard working, and respectable. No one was jerking us around with pricing, no pressured add ons. They really just wanted to help us out, and they did!

UPDATE: Sun Valley quoted us $ 440 for a new radiator and installation. We ended up getting a brand new radiator for $ 140 out the door at the O’Reilly in Prescott, and the guys there even helped us install it! Save yourself $ 300 and go to a car place that actually cares about you. Jason and Cody at O’Reilly in Prescott are awesome!
This place is by far the WORST auto repair place I’ve ever been to… EVER! Don’t even try asking for a manager, as the two managers, Paul and Benn, win the award for poorest customer service around.
My family and I were stranded on the side of the road, and Sun Valley promised to stay open for us until AAA got us towed there. They knew we were making our way from Phoenix to Prescott and that if they didn’t help us out, we’d be stuck in Prescott until Monday (it was Saturday at 3pm). Once we arrived in our tow truck, the two managers said they wouldn’t do it, and they’d already sent all of their mechanics home until Monday. Thanks for letting us know before we paid to get towed to your shop, Sun Valley! They literally left us sitting stranded on the tow truck in their parking lot as they closed up shop and left. Now none of the other mechanics in the area can help us, because Sun Valley got the only eligible radiator in the area delivered to their shop (for our repair) and they closed. Thanks, Sun Valley!
Don Otto is the shop owner, and according to the managers, they received orders from Don to close the shop rather than help us. If you want to give your money to a business owner, managers and shop that has zero customer service (or heart for that matter), be my guest. But when there are so many other shops in the area, there is absolutely no reason to choose this one.

The only thing worse that incompetence is lying to excuse it.
I had a 9:00am appt. for new tires (bought through TireBuyer, which is great). At 10:00 I was still waiting so I asked for my keys because I am partially disabled and couldn’t stand there waiting any longer. Instead of honoring my request the ‘boss’ refused and instead had someone bring my car in ahead of when it otherwise would have.
They asked if I wanted nitrogen and I said no. (This is a scam to charge you more. The air is already 78% nitrogen, and every respectable shop uses a moisture trap on their compressed air.)
They changed the tires but did not use a torque wrench. When I got the car home I found they had swapped my factory valve caps for ugly (and cheap) chrome and green caps.
The Tires were over-​inflated by 7 to 8 pounds, and the lug nuts were over tightened by at least 15 pounds.
I went back to get my original caps back, made sure they hadn’t charged me for nitrogen, and pointed out the errors in torque and pressure. Instead of apologizing and offering to fix it, ‘Paul’ lied and said they deliberately over-​inflate with nitrogen. Nonsense. Regardless of the gas content the pressure should be set to the car manufacturers specs. The only reason to over-​pressurize the tire is to assist with the lie that nitrogen gets better mileage, but at the cost of wear and safety)
As far as the improper torque, his excuse, like many shops now, is that they use ‘torque sticks’ on the air wrench. Don’t fall for this, either. What he is referring to are called PRE-​torque sticks. They are torsion bars invented to help prevent the mechanic from over-​tightening the nuts PRIOR to final torquing with a wrench. The problem is that so many shops now rely on them for final torquing. I have yet to see a lug nut properly torqued using a stick only. Insist they use a needle or click-​stop torque wrench, and if they don’t go to another shop.
Never again.
Update. I finally took the car on the highway and discovered this shop also didn’t balance the wheels properly. I had to drive all the way to Flagstaff under the speed limit to avoid the vibration.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would! Total rip off. My husband is deployed and he usually changes my oil. I’ve taken our brand new car (2014) for the last year thinking it was burning oil. I took it to the dealership finally and they told me it looked like my oil has never been changed!!! I marked my filter with a smiley face the next time I went and checked to see how much oil I had left. When I got the car back home, same filter and they didn’t even add oil !!! I called and was assured that the owner would call me back, never happened. After calling for a month with no response I finally went in and they offered me a free oil change… LOL Because I’d trust them to do it for free when they can’t even do it while being paid!!! Worst place ever ! Now I have to add changing my oil to my list of everything I do while my husband is gone.

I’ve been here three times now, and the service is consistent. Don the owner and Paul the front office guy are very knowledgeable and friendly. They never try to over charge you, or make you fix things that are not needed. They also go above and beyond. The price is beyond fair, especially if you’re a veteran. I always feel like it’s my dad/​uncle/​brother when I go in and they explain things with my car. I’m

Avoid «Sun Valley Tire & Auto Service». My husband’s air conditioner would not hold a charge. 3 visits and two $ 1,500 compressor replacements, we still had to take the car back for a 4^th visit for them to discover the pipe leading to the compressor had a hole in it. (Wouldn’t that be something you check BEFORE you replace the $ 1,500 compressor TWICE?) Each time we took the car for service we would notice caps and or screws missing from pieces they removed to get to the components they were attempting to fix. After 2 whole new air conditioner compressors :(one replacement was under their warranty) They did not tighten down all the components and on the freeway they were shimming around. Enough is enough.

Don (not sure about the name – the guy with the mustache). I was visiting from LA, and heard some funny sounds in one of my front tires. They checked all the tires, and Don took me into the shop and showed me that the tread was wobbling slightly on one. He took the time to discuss the problem, said it was drivable and gave me the choice to get a new tire or wait til I got home. No alarmist high pressure selling. Even recommended that I could go down the road to the Goodyear dealer to see if I might get credit if the problem was under warranty. They then rotated the tire to the rear as a precaution and checked that the spare was in good shape. Surprisingly, NO CHARGE for the entire visit, though I was expecting to pay for the checkup and advice.

Couldn’t ask for better service! The employees are wonderful and will give you a fair price. I am treated like family every time I go in.

My vehicle experienced transmission problems while in Prescott, 1700 miles from home. The guys at Sun Valley did everything in their power to get me back on the road and headed home in a timely manner. They were efficient, honest and a pleasure to do business with.

Don Otto is the best. He’s busy because he’s good. If you want it done fast go to crappy lube. If you want it done right go to sun valley. By the way oil change includes tire rotation and visual brake inspection.

I don’t write a lot of reviews but really felt compelled to in light of the only other (very bad) review of Sun Valley. My experience with Sun Valley and, particularly, the owner, has been really good. He did a free diagnosis for me and actually recommended that I do not spend the money on a $ 600 — $ 1000 repair because the value of my vehicle is only $ 4000 and there are no safety or performance issues at stake. He could have easily quoted the job and taken my money. And, he has taken a lot of time on 2 other occasions to offer advise. And, their oil changes are really reasonable. I live in Phoenix but have Sun Valley service my vehicle when I’m up in Prescott Valley because these guys do a really good job, they’re a local favorite with excellent word-​of-​mouth reputation. .. that’s why you have to schedule getting in there in advance sometimes and there may be a line.

To start if I could have given this place -* I would have. 3 an a half hours to do an oil change got home to find items had been taken from my truck and a quart of oil low if the owner guy spent more time in the garage instead of the lobby hitting on the female customers these things mite not be going on

Bad luck turns into good luck!
Sunday morning driving back from a camping trip in Prescott, my car began to overheat and stalled as I rolled into an Arco station on Hwy 69. Living in Tempe, Prescott was a ways away from home and having to be at the mercy of an auto mechanic, particularly in an unfamiliar town, was not a happy thought. Sitting with a non-​functioning vehicle in the parking lot of the Arco station I needed to make the obvious move of searching for a mechanic. I looked on Unilocal for any auto shops in the area and prepared for the possible financial and mechanical slaughter. I knew it was going to be tough if not impossible to find a place open on Sunday, yet I had no other choice, but to try. I found one place by the name of Sun Valley Tire that one of the Unilocal reviewers said he had called on Sunday and the owner answered, even though the shop was closed. So I went ahead and called. To my surprise, the owner «Don Otto» answered the phone! I told him my situation and he started arranging what to do immediately as if this has happened a thousand times. He gave me a number to a towing company, which he seemed to use all the time «TNT Towing». He knew I was from out of town, so he told me that first thing in the morning he would be able to get me an estimate and finish my car by mid afternoon. He also recommended a motel right next to his shop, which gives discounted rates for customers Don sends over. I called the towing company and they already knew who I was, because Don had called ahead of me and gave them my information. The tow truck picked the car up and also drove us to his shop.
As soon as we made it to his shop in Prescott Valley, we saw the motel he was talking about, walked over and told them Don sent us and we got a room for $ 52 for the night. The whole time Don was texting me, explaining what would happen tomorrow. Tomorrow came and at 8:00am as he promised he had a time and estimate. I had him do a few extra things like change the oil, which was probably the most inexpensive oil change I have ever had. He had the car two hours earlier and much under his estimated price. I left with a new radiator and gaskets, oil change, a fixed 4WD button and he even changed out my back windshield wiper, all that plus labor for less than it would have cost me to get just the radiator itself at the dealer.
Don is one of a kind when it comes to a mechanic. He treats customers as long time friends and makes you feel like you’re in safe hands when you are in a vulnerable situation. All his employees were upbeat and positive and he had a very clean shop. His bathroom for customers was as clean as the bathrooms in high end restaurants. He served complimentary coffee and cookies to all his customers and he would even let Samson (his half chow half Labrador) take you for a walk, and it seemed that Samson has taken many customers on a walk! Don even offered us his truck to pick up our luggage from the motel, so we wouldn’t have to carry it.
I really appreciate Don’s customer service, he shows that he really cares about customer and looks at business and customer loyalty as a long-​term goal. Don actually forgot to put the tow truck expense on my bill, I called him as I was on my way home and brought his attention to this fact and told him I would like to turn around and pay him and he told me to don’t worry about it and to just come back and catch him the next time. This shop is about 1 hour and 45 minutes from where I live in Tempe, but this distance is nothing compared to the high quality service and prices Don offers. I will drive the distance to have Don take care of all my car needs because it’s hard to find trustworthy, loyal and dependable people… plus next time I want Samson to walk me Thank you Don and the whole crew at Sun Valley Tire!

Called on a early Sunday morning and just happened to reach Don (the owner) doing inventory in his closed shop. he arranged a tow truck, which arrived within the hour … I watched my F150 disappear into the distance to a place it had never been, to be repaired by a mechanic I had never met. This could have been a expensive experience … fortunately my blind call was inspired by a very good referral. the estimate was ready before noon on Monday and repairs were underway just after lunch. The transmission was «frozen» and would not shift, along with my cruise control nonfunctional (for some time), a loose exhaust system (due to snow accumulation), overdue brake work and the cigarette lighter didn’t work… so I’ve been busy ! okay !
Tuesday I got my car back. Less than a thousand, with new rotors, brakes, cruise… working, transmission shifting and cigarettes lighting!
