Small Talk Language Academy is an early language education program designed to expose children to foreign languages and stimulate interest in other cultures. We offer Spanish, French, Italian and Mandarin Chinese educational playgroup classes taught by native-​speaking teachers. Our classes immerse students in their target language through music, movement, and storytelling using the Thibaut Technique; developed by François Thibaut, founder of The Language Workshop for Children in New York City.

Our classes are 45 minutes — 1 hour long and are offered in 10 week sessions throughout the year. Free demonstration classes are available. Through our educational playgroup classes students gain a global perspective and obtain skills that enable them to communicate with a wide range of people, appreciate other cultures, become flexible thinkers, and enrich their lives! For ages 6 months to 12 years.

History

Established in 2012.

Small Talk was created to fill an unmet need in the state of Rhode Island and Southern New England for children to obtain early foreign language learning in a multicultural setting. Each year new language class options and cultural activities are added to our offerings, as well as children’s books and learning materials from countries around the world.
