Was moving out weekend for the students. This place was packed. Still didn’t have to wait to long And staff was friendly.

Pullman is not a foodie town. Let’s be honest. Red Bento in Pullman is: dirty, rife with slow service, inconsistent with cooking, and not living up to its promise. I used to live in Japan: fried sushi was not a thing. I can no longer count how many times I’ve ordered teriyaki and bit into a few pieces that tasted like lifeless rubber because it sat in marinade too long. I’ve had service that behaved like it was too busy to bother with me and it was a slow night. Or how about specifically asking for no spice on phad thai because a person in our party couldn’t eat it, only to get a 4 star monster. Nope. Done. This place used to be 10 times better than Golden Teriyaki. Now they are on par.

I was reasonably pleased with my first visit to Red Bento. The quality of the nigiri was acceptably good, though not quite to the level of Tokyo Seoul, in my opinion. Rolls were delicious, from the basic California to the more deluxe offerings. Perhaps the most pleasant part is that the chef is very generous and threw some extra nigiri on our fairly sizable a la carte order — and, let’s face it, sushi is a luxury and when you’re ordering a la carte nigiri the bill adds up quickly, so giving extras on the house is awesome. Service was acceptable. Not the sort of place you get the warm fuzzies from staff interactions but polite and helpful.

This is probably the best Sushi in Pullman. They have a great menu and the quality has been consistent.

I stopped here on a Wednesday afternoon with co-workers and the service was fairly slow. On top of that they forgot our order of edamame, which was delivered after our entrees. The food was okay. The menu looks very extensive so I played it a bit safe with chicken katsu. For Pullman, it is a good option but don’t go here if you are in a rush or have somewhere to be after.

Every single time I’ve gone the service has been horrible. You have to ask multiple times for items, sometimes even having to get up yourselves for the items. They continually mess up your orders. Overall, customers satisfaction is at an all time low and the only thing that keeps this from being a 1 star review is their food isn’t bad when you do finally get it. Edit: ordered take out bento box and they forgot the California rolls. Honestly not very surprised and didn’t want to go back

Red Bento is great for pretty much any occasion from late night take out to going out with friends. I’ve never been disappointed with the service or food after 10+ visits in 2015 and several more prior to that. I’m impressed with the consistent quality the staff maintains and will be back for more great food in the new year!

If we can discover water on Mars, how come we can’t find decent Japanese(Chinese, Korean, insert Asian country) food in Pullman, WA? My life is simple. I pray for world peace. I pray for the safety of kittens. And, I pray for good Japanese, Chinese, or Korean food. Living in Japan and Singapore will do that to ya I guess, so, expecting any authentic cuisine in the Palouse may be too big a wish to pray for with God being busy with the Pope visit and all these days. So, like everything in life … reviewing Red Bento comes down to perspective and mindset. Have I had better Japanese food than the Pork Katsu Bento Lunch at Red Bento? Yes. Have I had better sushi rolls than the Crazy Dragon Roll at Red Bento? Yes. Have I had better food than the thin pork and gummy fish at Red Bento? Yes. Does«Meh, I’ve experienced better» 2 stars sum up Red Bento? Yes.

The Chinese food sucks, but the sushi is pretty decent and the price is better than other sushi restaurants around. There is also good variety.

Okay but nothing to write home about. No kids menu though the standard menu is the size of an encyclopedia… if you have the patience to wade through all the choices you’ll probably find something edible. I gave 3 stars because the service is exceptional.

Their food and service is amazing. I had the teraki chicken plate. I will be back. Always consistent every time I eat there.

We experienced great service, good food, and lots of TVs on which to watch Monday Night Football. We had sushi and seaweed salad and beers and were quite happy with the experience. Good prices, too, but we just moved here from L.A. and are still used to higher costs.

Went here for our twins 20th birthday dinner. It was recommended by their friends. WSU students. The wait staff was slow. Took forever to give our order and an even longer unbearable wait to receive our food. The almond chicken was subpar. It had more miniature corn in it than chicken. The pad Thai was average. The orange chicken was good however. The rest of our student party had sushi which they apparently enjoyed. Overall a disappointing experience.

Pretty decent food for a reasonable price. They have varying grades of spiciness(probably a good thing in Pullman) and I should have gotten some of the hotter grades to really work for me. But the staff was pleasant, the place was clean and quirky, and I really liked the huge sushi boat they delivered the sashimi on.

One of my favorite restaurants in Pullman. A pretty significant menu and great food. I generally prefer their sushi over Tokyo Seoul’s as well as their bento boxes. The service is generally pretty good, although it tends to get tremendously busy on Friday evenings, for some reason.

Huge portions and the food is great. Is always well done, never had a problem there. People are generally helpful and nice, no issues.

This is probably the restaurant that I visit most often in Pullman. They have a HUGE menu, which can be confusing. However, we have NEVER had substandard food. They seem to have fairly high turnover with wait staff, but not the back of house. Still, the service is better than Tokyo Seoul and not as pricey. Not great ambiance, but it is fine for Pullman.

Red Ben-NO. Just don’t do it. I had Basil Fried Rice and it was super bland. Go somewhere else if you want Asian food

My boyfriend and I went here expecting at least a tolerable experience after hearing all of the hype about Red Bento from our peers… Unfortunately it was one of the most painful dining experiences of our lives. And don’t get me wrong, I’ve worked in food service. I’m normally more patient than most when it comes to dining out. It took us twenty minutes to be seated when there were not only plenty of empty tables, but none were reserved and the waiter seemed to be relaxing towards the rear of the restaurant. After we were seated, it took another half hour for the waiter to remember to come take our order. It’s important to remember here — the restaurant was near empty. It wasn’t busy. They just seemed to genuinely not care that there was anyone in the restaurant. When we finally got our food, my pot stickers had a taste of CINNAMON in them. Heads up to people who don’t commonly eat pot stickers: Cinnamon is not a flavor you should ever find in them. Also, my boyfriend’s dish was supposed to be spicy and didn’t have the slightest tinge of spice. It was the first time I’ve ever wanted to up and leave in a dining experience and no amount of trying to excuse the poor service amounted to a decent explanation as to why it was such an atrocious experience. Save your money and your time and go to one of the other 3+ asian(Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese) restaurants in town. They’ll actually seem grateful that you’re there instead of treating you horribly.
