The food was good, not great, however they are very stingy. I ordered a vegetarian scramble, the first vegetable for the dish listed was broccoli and I had precisely 3 small pieces of broccoli on the entire dish. They did however bring me 5 more pieces, free of charge, when I asked for more. Try the Breakfast Club, in Moscow for a high quality and similar in price option.

The food is good but the«nickel and dime» mindset of the waitstaff is obnoxious and ruins what would be a nice atmosphere. There’s nothing wrong with profit but I’d like to feel like I’m out getting breakfast, not visiting a used car lot.

Nice breakfast place. Very friendly n professional staff. Food quality can be better for the price. It’s not pricy though but they should serve you a little better food. Their Hotcakes are awesome! I like the look n decoration, yet I wish they could renovate to make it a little cleaner and still keep their vintage look. Anyways, I would go back there n hope their chef tries a little harder though!

The Best Breakfast Ever … I don’t know what restaurant some of the others visited but for me this was the best breakfast restaurant I have ever enjoyed. The meats, vegetables and breads were so fresh and delicious. The jam, however, was superb! Yum yum yum. Everything on everyone’s plate was delish. The place was very busy and the service was good, and the quality was great. I hope those who complained go somewhere else next time so I don’t have to wait for a table.

First time here. Breakfast this morning with granddaughter. It’s Dad’s Weekend at WSU and the place was packed yet we waited only a short time for a table and our meal was served promptly. I had the goulash with gravy and a side of potato pancakes. The goulash is a real treat but VERY filling. Pancakes come with applesauce and sour cream and are equally delicious. Granddaughter had crepes with apples and loved it. Her side of bacon was cooked crispy exactly as she ordered it. Because we were first timers we received a $ 5 gift card and complimentary Aebelskivers. I think both are a nice touch. The service couldn’t have been more friendly or accommodating. If there’s a drawback… well, it is a bit pricey but the portions are more than ample. We’ll be visiting our granddaughter from time to time at WSU and will no doubt make one trip to this restaurant per visit. It’s that good!

My fiancé and I had lunch at Old European this Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, the food quality/quantity and service did not match our expectations. This place has been in Pullman forever, but only serves mediocre food for a high price. My fiancé ordered the biscuits and gravy and I ordered the bacon and cheese omelet with a cinnamon roll. The service we extremely fast(considering that we had to wait 10 minutes for a table), indicating our food was most likely pre-made. This was confirmed when we got our dishes. The food was warm, but not fresh. Her biscuits and gravy tasted like they had just come out of the fridge and one of the biscuits was burnt on the bottom. My omelet was so small for the outrageous price tag of 10.75! I wanted to ask the waiter where the rest of my meal was, but I refrained. The best part of our meal was the cinnamon roll, which tasted fresh and was served warm(reason for 2 stars). The service was also sub-par. Our waiter(her name was CJ, shown on bill) was unfriendly and moped around to her tables. All we heard was a mumble from her the whole time we were ordering. I got the feeling she was trying to rush us through because she brought the bill to our table as soon as the food came out. We had three interactions with her(took order, brought order to table, brought check to table), and that was it. The food and service we received was not worth our time or money. There are other, better breakfast places in Pullman/Moscow. Don’t bother with Old European.

We were invited to lunch last Friday by Grandpa, who has eaten many times at Old European restaurant. It wasn’t super busy, but there was a decent amount of diners We had a pleasant, but very distracted waitperson, E**. We had to ask several times for our children’s food to be delivered, for the promised whipped cream and fruit to be added to the baby’s pancake, which we had to pay extra for as it was buckwheat, and we had to remind her she said she would bring one for him, and then we had to ask again for the butter and syrup, etc. to be delivered, for our drinks to be delivered and we never received the waters we asked for either, but had given up trying. So the youngest members of our group were unable to eat and our food got cold as we waited for it to come. With my spouse being on his lunch break, this was a significant wait. When all was delivered they enjoyed their meals. My father in law paid the bill in cash, which he gave to E**, telling her to keep the change. We finished up our meal and then took the kids to the restroom to wash up and this took at least a good ten minutes before we actually went outside the restaurant. My relatives own many restaurants in the Midwest and I’ve managed a few and I’ve waited tables for a long time as well. What happened next left my family feeling very uncomfortable and that’s why, after waiting to think this through, I messaged the management via their Facebook page. It has gone unanswered for a week. That is so unprofessional. There is no way to contact them privately via email, either, so now I’m writing this review. AFTER the host, who paid the bill in cash and parked where he could be seen from the hostess stand, drove away, E** came outside seeking money. This makes it about 15 minutes after she had the money in hand to count and deal with while the person who gave her the money was there to work with and who knew what he’d done. To wait until he had driven away and then to tell us we owed her another $ 10(my husband paid the $ 10 and added tip as well) leaves us wondering WHY. I’ve had to deal with waitstaff who have used this tactic when they felt their tip was not good enough. I want to add that while E** was not rude or unpleasant, she was very distracted and the service suffered considerably. She didn’t earn an average tip. To have to be reminded over and over and over about normal service isn’t a good experience for the customers. I don’t feel comfortable with this experience and it’s too bad, because this area needs quality restaurants with quality ingredients badly. I wish there were more places that served REALFOOD. And now that the management/owners have not seen fit to check their messages and if they have read it, have not chosen to respond, well, I’m not inclined to go back or recommend this place at all.

I have heard that this is a local favorite, but I won’t be back. Food was mediocre, dining area was dirty. Service was pleasant which was it’s only redeeming quality.

It’s a bit pricey, but you definitely won’t leave disappointed. I had the Goulash, Ableskivers, and some Coffee. It was so much food, but it was really tasty. The hot sauce was really good too! I almost couldn’t eat it all b/c it was so much food, but I managed to get it all down, and was full for the rest of the day.

The food is good. Their policy where they dont sit a group until the entire party is present is inconvenient and illogical. I passed along this feedback(in much nicer words) and the management was rather curt and rude about it. Not exactly pleased. I suppose when you’re the only above average breakfast place in town, you have a lot of leeway with how you can treat your customers.

Great food and service! They even have fresh squeezed orange juice. The only thing I didn’t like was the menu as it was hard to read.

I don’t know why everyone raves about this place. For nearly $ 9 a plate, I’d think that they could afford to spend money on FRESH fruit. The fact that they frozen strawberries really disgusted me. It’s summer, there are plenty of strawberries around.

Had breakfast here for the second time with Katie. Candy was our waitress again and everything was PERFECT… again! I had the Omelet with the German Sausage in it, the coffee that comes in the French Press, a carafe of orange juice and a real Belgian Waffle.(Yeah, I finished everything) Absolutely remarkable!

I wanted to try everything on the menu. I chose the German Potato Pancake(has sausage in it), my mom chose the Veggie Browns she also had a side of their house made toast. We shared original abelskivers. Because it was our first time the server brought us a taste of the blueberry filled abelskivers — which also were incredible! We both ordered the sunrise drink(fresh squeezed orange juice with cranberry). Everything was delicious and the server even gave us a coupon for $ 5 off our next visit since it was our first visit – so make sure to let them know if you’ve never been before! We loved everything, we even ordered a loaf of their bread to take home with us! The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars was that the restaurant was pretty empty(we arrived around 12:45pm) and the server was phenomenal at first – greeting us, helping us decide, being super friendly – but once we received our food she didn’t stop by again.

If you haven’t tried a Danish Aebelskiver, you need to get here today and try one. And then try their homemade raspberry jam. And the potato pancake. We’re so glad we saw the sign as we were driving down Grand looking for highway 195. Dad has declared this the best breakfast and brunch place ever. High praise! Be sure to let the server know if you’re new.

Really great service(Diana was very nice and had some good suggestions) and awesome potato pancakes. My mom had the European breakfast, and it looks like the perfect amount of food. Like I said, I had potato pancakes and a side of egg. they were the best potato pancakes I’ve ever had. Someone suggested trying the pancakes with the hot sauce and I agree, it is amazing. 4 stars and not five because the eggs were slightly overdone, but don’t let that deter you. This place is very satisfying for breakfast. If you want to miss the breakfast rush, sleep in and come around 11:30 for brunch

There is a right way to do this. First, here’s my story: My experience began because my girlfriend was graduating in a week and we never had a chance to visit the Old European. We decided now was the time and we left! The atmosphere was great and they absolutely nail the old European home vibe. The waitress was very courteous and came by about ever 3 – 5 minutes asking if we were ready to order. This was partly because we were new and partly because the menu is huge. After we ordered, our meals arrived quicker than I expected. I got the ‘bit of breakfast’ meal and a french press coffee. My girlfriend got the ‘traditional goulash’ and the same coffee. We shared Aebelskivers(round pancake balls). My meal was sufficient for the $ 8 price, however the Goulash was amazing. For $ 14 we got enough flood + the side for my girlfriend to eat until stuffed, me to eat no small portion of her meal, and then still have more to take home in a box. The aebelskivers tasted great as well. The only issue was that after these meals and the tip the price came out to $ 48. Now comes the ‘right way to do this’ I mentioned above. The Traditional Goulash was absolutely amazing! In addition, we had an option to get Aebelskivers as the side(we chose french toast). The french-press coffee cost about $ 3.50 per person, however the traditional drip coffee only cost about $ 1.00. So, my advice is to go and buy the ‘Traditional Goulash’ with an Aebelskivers side. If each of you get a traditional drip coffee, that will come out to about $ 16.00 pre-tax for the meal. $ 20 total a helluva lot cheaper than $ 48 and it gives you the most delicious aspects of the meal! It will fill you up, make you smile, and please your wallet!

You can’t be in Pullman without stopping at Old European. Favorite thing, and THE thing to get is the goulash! Old European is definitely a Pullman tradition. Gail is by far the best waitress there. Be warned that there is almost always a wait.

Good food. Terrible service. Even worse attitude! We ate here all the time when I was in school as a student(2002-04). I loved the Belgium waffles, and the biscuits and gravy were top notch. In 2004, my wife and I had our first son, the month after I graduated. On the morning we moved away from Pullman, back to the West Side for work, we went in with our three-day old son. We got the NASTIEST look from the server. This was in a time when a lot of students were having babies, which then created a counter-culture and counter-attitude toward this. My wife WASN’T A STUDENT!!! And regardless, we didn’t need that type of judgmental look. The girl then took the three people who walked in behind us and sat them. I protested. She just walked off. These people behind us seemed confused, like they knew something was up, but were unsure if they should follow. They ended up doing it anyway. I said very loudly that I wanted to talk to a manager. This was not a fight I was going to lose! My wife, however, was tired, newly postpartum, and wanting to avoid a fight. She encouraged me to just leave. I wasn’t happy, but we left. We went to Tam’s, head a good breakfast, then went back to the West Side. Fast forward 11 years. I now work in Pullman, have a good salary, can easily afford to eat at The Old European, but I WON’T. Why not? Because I finally called and asked to speak to the owner. I ascertained that the current owner was the son of the last person. I told him that I understand he wasn’t the one in charge back when this happened, but that I had been harboring this issue for 10+ years and I told him what happened. He didn’t care! Look, it wasn’t his fault. But he was completely unapologetic. He didn’t care. I’m not sure if that’s because he was raised by the same kind of people who were OK with their employees acting rude and discriminatory. So, as I told him before I hung up, I’m happy to take my money and go anywhere else. AND, in a bout of negative marketing, I’m happy to share my experience with others.

This is the type of place you need to go to once when visiting Pullman, but not more than that. There is always a wait, but the food is good. However, unless you are a logger that needs 10,000 calories a day, this place should be visited sparingly.
