Commodore Resort

Older hotel, clean though, room we had was a king smoking right next to the pool bar. I thought we won’t get any sleep but the bar closes at midnight and we were still out. And if you do want to turn in early, they supply ear plugs. The biggest reason I picked this place is because it was walking distance to downtown. I would give it another star but they don’t supply a coffee pot in the room and that’s a no-​no for us. If we ever come back, I’ll be looking for something different. But if you’re just here to party and need a place to crash, it’s not bad.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words… In this case it was photoshopped, cropped and filtered. This place wasn’t terribly expensive and is ok for a once in a lifetime downgrading … They called it a «resort» but it was more a motel in an alley. Signage to find it was horrible (walked past it three times!!!), and once you got to the check in area, you wondered if you were ordering a $ 5 foot long from Subway or checking into a hotel; a Subway was in the lobby of the hotel! (Or was a hotel front desk in a Subway Restuarant.?!)
Staff politeness depended on the time of day and amount of engagement you sought to seek. If you sleep in (if you can with all the noise — there was a reason earplugs were on your nightstand next to the bed), forget housekeeping to return and clean later. The beds have caverns in the middle so we felt like we had to crawl out of a hole to get out of bed. Not very comfortable. There are no clocks in the room unless you have a microwave with one.
Positives? We had a jacuzzi room which was awesome to enjoy that! Refrigerators that work well, and fresh towels were easy to get if you called for them (which we had to do because they didn’t clean out room). The AC works ok, but not the best. It gets two stars cause of the Jacuzzi.

To the owner of Mr. Ed’s & Commodore Resort — We were unfortunate enough to be among your presence during our dinner at The Upper Deck on Saturday night (8÷15÷15). The fact alone that you blared your 5 boat horns directly at the 70+ diners on the patio during our Country’s National Anthem should be reason enough to boycott your establishments but not only did not blare your horn directly at the patron’s dining outside during this beautiful ceremony while staff members lowered our nation’s flag, but you continued to do so for the next 30 mins. Glad you had ear plugs in. We did not. I am sadden that you do not have more respect for your country and the patron’s visiting this island. The Commodore Resort, Mist at Put in Bay, Victory Station Hotel, Golf Cart Depot, Mr. Ed’s Port Clinton, Commodore Perry, Dock’s Beach House, Beachfront Resort will surely never receive my business. Shame, Shame, SHAME on you! I will continue to support The Upper Deck — They have great food at a fair price and not only that BUT THEY HAVE A GREAT STAFF.

Came here for a girls weekend expecting to party, hear some live music and have a good time. We were not disappointed.
The Commodore is a standard hotel. Definitely not a resort, unless you are the type that thinks Budweiser is really the «champagne of beers» — as most of the clientele in this town do (I mean that in the nicest possible way).
We had no problems with the hotel and it more than suited our needs. We had a 3 double-​bed room. It was on the 4^th floor (i.e., the second floor, which is quite hilarious) without a view. However, we had comfy beds, clean towels, a working fridge, make up wipes and earplugs to help us sleep (definitely needed!).
Housekeeping came regularly and the housekeepers were super nice. The desk staff was pleasant. We enjoyed having a Subway in the lobby (Subway in the lobby!!) because it made for one less stop when stumbling home after hours.
The pool, Mist, affiliated with the hotel is quite a scene. On Saturday we got a pool front table and bottle service (go see Brandon Saba at Mist– he’s a great guy and totally took care of us). It was fun to see all of the different people at the pool, take a dip in the cool water and drink at the swim up bar.
The Commodore is very well located and is walking distance to everything. That is important on adults/​girls weekends so that you can easily find your way back and don’t need to walk too far after imbibing some alcoholic beverages at the nearby watering holes.
All in all this was a great time and all of us girls on the trip would definitely recommend it. Adults only– do NOT bring your kids! It’s a weekend you won’t soon forget.

Our room has a big jacuzzi tub. The room is priced well. Although the bed and TV are a little outdated, we had a good time. If you are looking for a quiet setting, do not attend on the weekend. There is a pool that is not owned by the hotel and has a bar so people will party on a Friday and Saturday night pretty late. During the week it’s quieter. The staff was nice and helpful. There is also a Subway inside of the hotel that is opened until 3 AM.

Do not have high expectations. My friend and I went to Put In Bay for a summer getaway that wouldn’t break the bank. We did not have HIGH expectations for

When we checked into the hotel the lady at the front desk let us know there was a «roofie» problem on the island. (Date rape
Drug) A large amount of females were getting it slipped into their drinks. Strike 1.
The room wasn’t terrible. Somewhat clean, but we did take a towel to the floor
After our feet were black from walking on the tiles. Strike 2. Have you ever been in a hotel that didn’t have a phone or a clock? I know I have both with my iPhone, but there should be an easy way to contact the front
Desk. Forget about sleeping here. It sounded like there was a herd of
Elephants above us every night.
The pool area was nice but it is not owned by the hotel so forget about getting some early morning sun by the pool. It is owned by the bar and they open around noon.
All in all it wasn’t terrible but I will not
Stay there again.

Number one, the swim up bar isn’t open on weekdays. Number two, the clerk at the front desk gave us a key to a room that was already occupied. Number three, we requested a pool from room and we’re charged for such but there is no pool front room. It is facing a fence that you have to walk around to an alley to access the pool. Extremely poor experience.

best to stay in a non chain

I will start this off by saying i had incredibly low expectations BUT i was plesantly surprised by how «okay» this place was. We stayed in the old part, but the rooms were decently sized, seemed relatively clean, had a decent bathroom. Nothing horrible and nothing great — if you are like me and would prefer a real blanket instead of just those nasty hotel comforters than you may need to bring your own. Walls are very thin but as long as you aren’t expecting some palace then you really aren’t in for any surprises. I don’t think anyone comes to PIB to sit in their rooms all day so its fine for the amount of time you spend in there.
I would not reccomend however renting a golfcart from Commodore — I rented one at 9:45AM and we had it back before 10:45AM becauses we only wanted to be charged for an hour. When i checked my bank statement after getting home they had charged me for a full day. I called and they were able to refund my money but argued with me over how long i had rented the golfcart so I ended up having to pay for 2 hours instead of the a hour i actually had it. It was my word against theirs so there was nothing I could really do — so if you do rent one — be careful!

Not that great. Staff is rude, it’s overpriced – except for the cleaning crew, walls are like paper, it’s so freaking loud. You can’t relax. Bring ear plugs. It’s fun if you want to get black out drunk and want to blow a bunch of money on a crap hotel. Never stay here again. That’s for sure… Watch out for may flies and… Also! Your key cards randomly deactivate, so don’t be surprised If you get locked out of your room a few times.

This review is only written in case you’re reading this because google lead you astray while you were debating on what Lampoon Vacation to plan with your kids. So unless you & your SO or Best Friend wanna get-​away to one of the most Funtastic Party Weekend you’ve had since college, then Google should redirect your trip advisor back to Disney or Myrtle Beach. This hotel is an adult playground destation for colorful happy weekend drunks of all ages. It truly IS the Key West of the North (except much cooler to hang for a few days, since cruise ships don’t port there).
Not 1^st Rodeo with party places near water (being from Myrtle Beach)~so, like Key West, do yourself a favor by not making a trip all way to Put-​In-​Bay Commadore for room service, robes, a spa menu or a 5 star restaurant, because even an avid party animal cannot stay for more than a weekend.

We went in October, because it was the cheapest place we cold find for 2 nights. The total was $ 234 for 2 nights. Great when you think about the fact that it’s that amount for 1 night in July.
We were given a smoking room to begin with and we immediately asked to be switched. We were given a new room very quickly. The other reviews are correct it’s no resort. We didn’t stay in the main hotel. We stayed across from Mist in the second building. Of course, Mist was closed. Our second room was good. The room was 236 on the second floor above the smoking rooms. That became an issue later. Someone must have had the fan on in their bathroom while they were smoking. We could smell cigarette smoke in our bathroom for hours. We tried turning our fan on & it only seemed to make it worse. We didn’t asked to be moved. The smell finally went away after the fan was off for a few hours.
We found it very convenient to Mr. Ed’s. We planned on on watching The Ohio State Football game at Mr. Ed’s but ended up leaving (See Mr. Ed’s review next).

Hahaha i cant bleive i am giving this place 3 stars. BUt it was a room. with a large bathroom at a reasonable price. You smell like subway the whole time bc there is one downstairs in the lobby. but who says thats a negative? hahaha
The MIST pool was okay. If you go here with low expectations you wont be dissapointed. Its no Vegas and no five star resort. Actually the word resort should be cut out! But hey… the bartenders were awesome and prob some of the nicest people around! My boyfriend and I had a blast… mostly drunken blast… but hey, we enjoyed ourselves.

It’s called Commodore Resort, but don’t mistake it for a resort. It is simply a place to stay on Put-​in-​Bay. Clean, plain and plenty convenient. The Commodore just built a swim-​up bar called Mist, which is adjacent to the hotel and adjacent to a couple other swim-​up bars, all of which were packed when we showed up – perfect for 90+ deg. weather. We booked one day prior for a Saturday night stay. $ 230 for a double – not too bad for the height of the season and affordable when split among the four of us. Subway in the lobby is a nice touch (serves breakfast, too) and most appreciated by discerning drunks like us.
Again, the rooms were clean and despite most of the clientele – weekend partyers – it was pretty quiet inside.
But Mist was the main attraction, and it didn’t disappoint. After we checked in and got to our room (Room 407… on the second floor?!) we made the best decision of the weekend. We opened the window shade. The window looked down between the trees and right into the Mist, where sunbathers, assisted by the Captain Morgan Girls and alcohol service, danced and splashed to loud, loud music. It was like spring break all over again – but a greater age range. Two hours later I peeled my face away from the window and we ventured into the pool. We also took in the adjoining pool bars and spent most of the day in the water. Bar service was slow, but that was due to the crowd, I think. Besides, the wait didn’t seem too long given the surroundings and constant beachballs flying around. Alcohol, swimming and sun tired us out and most of the others, too, as the pools emptied out by about 7.
There was one bad experience but I can’t blame that on the Commodore. For some stupid reason I took my phone. The plan was to carry it in the pool – only about four feet deep – and set it poolside. But being an idiot, I put my phone in my pocket to climb into the pool. It was immersed for only a second before I realized what I did, but today, a day later, it’s still drying out. We’ll see if it works again.
I wasn’t the only idiot, though. We got a kick out of the guy who had «I’m gay» and a certain symbol of maleness on his back courtesy of sunblock lotion – probably applied when he was passed out on a lawn chair.
Overall, good weekend and a good place to stay.

This is not your typical high class island getaway but hey all you really do is sleep there so who cares right? I think my laundry room is bigger than the room I shared with three other people. I can’t complain because it was a 30 second walk from my room to the pool and the poolside bar. There is a little coffee shop close by to get your caffeine to break up that day after hangover too.
