The Old Forge

My absolute favorite restaurant on the island. I’d eat here multiple times per trip. The crepes are awesome with smores being my favorite. The shrimp tacos were to die for. The crema was divine. My hubby got the berry brittle salad and really liked that too.

Basically to me the best place on the island to get breakfast. I’ve tried plenty of different places on the island and most are mediocre at best. This place has never failed to make my morning taste buds happy. Yes you will have to wait awhile for service and your food but that’s because they are so incredibly busy. You even see servers for the other establishments stopping here for eats. Now onto their offerings. They have a neat menu that encompasses breakfast crepes of any ilk you can think of. They gave traditional breakfast along with waffles and different types of Benedicts. They also have breakfast sandwiches. I ordered the Billy Boyd crêpe with breakfast potatoes and a café mocha. Hubby got the Classic crêpe with breakfast potatoes and a coffee. When you order specialty drinks it takes a bit to receive them because they make them up fresh. My crêpe had bacon cheddar tomato and arugula. It was sooo darn good with the crunch of the bacon the freshness of the tomato and arugula and sharpness of the cheese made for an explosion of flavor in my mouth. Yes I’m going back tomorrow and I already know what I’m getting yumminess!

This is well deserved review. We took 18 people here for a bachelorette party and could not have had a better experience with A++ service.
I wish I could remember her name, our server, she was amazing and knew the restaurant and menu so well. She was so kind and patient with our group, splitting checks, refilling drinks (water and booze) and with our friend who had food allergies.
All the food was great and the dessert we tried was delicious. The fries — YUM! I had the chicken pesto crêpe and also the birthday cake crêpe for dessert. I think it was on special but I think it needs to be added to the menu: D
Our best dining experience on the island was here. Don’t pass this place up.
Oh, also had coffee here Saturday morning and it was delicious (I’m picky about coffee). This place does it all and they do it well!

Best food I’ve had in a long time, and I have a lot of business meals at «fancy» restaurants in big cities… This was a complete surprise for Put-​In-​Bay and I hope they continue doing what they are doing! Even my son commented about how good the kid’s sliders were.

Ohio has very few redeeming qualities, but Old Forge’s menu is one of them. Stocked with eggs benedicts, breakfast tacos and mimosas, Old Forge will help you cut through the hangover that you somehow managed, even though there is no legitimate liquor sold on the island.
Despite it’s midwestern charm, it can’t cure everything that Put-​In-​Bay throws at you. So if you contracted some sort of disease from the urine-​infested hot tub, or from that chick you met in the pool from Pittsburgh, you should go to the free clinic. Directly after the free clinic, stop by for some breakfast tacos and the Sriracha will help you focus on another kind of burning.
(Side note: check and see if they have a Unilocal deal. I scored $ 10 off just for having a phone, which is quite nice when everything on the island is overpriced)

My family and I were in Put in Bay last week on vacation. My sister, her boyfriend, my husband, and I wanted to treat my parents to a nice dinner, just the two of them. They had never been to the island before and I had only been one time. I knew what kind of restaurants were in PIB, mostly bars with average food or super casual lunch places. That’s why I was so happy when I found The Old Forge to be the #1 rated restaurant in PIB on Trip Advisor! I made a 6 pm reservation one day prior for my parents, and they very much enjoyed their dinner that night. They both ordered savory crepes for dinner and sweet crepes for dessert. You cannot have too many crepes at this place! I am rating it 5 stars since my parents had such a great time and it seems like from their comments that the restaurant was stellar!

Awesome crepes, great service, our server was Alec who seemed very knowledgable about the menu items. We eat out quite a bit as we travel a lot … my husband and son both thought this was one of the best crepes they have eaten. In this town of poor quality restaurants, this is a welcome relief. We also tried the Mayan coffee which was well made.

Amazing food and service! Always consistently good, service is friendly and knowledgeable. Caprese crêpe was delicious!

The Old Forge is a great place to eat something a little different on Put-​in-​Bay. We stayed on the Island a few weeks ago. Amanda was our server and she did a great job recommending just the right dishes. The service and food was very good. The breakfast crapes are awesome. I strongly recommend it.

Finally REAL food @ Put-​In Bay that does not taste like it came from Sysco or GFS. Nice friendly staff. Smaller but great variety of menu items. They specialize in Crêpe’s but have some more traditional offerings as well. They also have a barista coffee offerings as well. We are so glad to have found The Old Forge. All of the ingredients in the food tastes and look fresh and every dish we tried tasted like it was hand made. No canned, prepackaged sauces or food here.
Even more impressive are the prices. You won’t pay any more to eat here, and maybe even less then the other prepackaged offerings nearby.
Lately, the staff was kind and responsive.
I highly recommend The Old Forge.

Great food. A bit slow to get the chow but worth it. Customer service was great a much better than other spots on the island.

There are few times in life when you enjoy a great meal and that was today for us. The service was impeccable and the food was that of New York fine dining quality. I will be back tonight.

I tried to order the walleye, but they were out. The B-​Rock sliders were good. They are more like small hamburgers than sliders. The fries were below average. I ordered the potato & kale hash hoping it would be something interesting. Unfortunately, it was just deep fried potato chunks with kale and a lot of garlic sauce. My girlfriend and I could not to eat it.

Wow the Apple bacon maple muffin is absolutely off the planet awesome. This place is incredible as they have different muffins every single day. The staff is really cool and friendly and will point you to anything you need. Make sure you try to find Faith to make you the best coffee drink you ever experienced either the Mayan mocha or the dirty chai latte.

Creative and stunning breakfast spot with more than just eggs, bacon and coffee standard. I tend to Unilocal reviews to find the place to try in new areas and this one fit the bill — literally — they had an offer for $ 10 you get a $ 20 certificate! Major score!
I ordered the breakfast tacos and didn’t skimp… I added the pork and avocado, plus got multi-​grain bread, homemade jelly and the potatoes. WOW!!! It was the perfect meal to compliment my liquid fulfillment the night before.
The sauce on the tacos was spicy… and maybe a little too much so a suggestion would be to ask for it on the side and drizzle the amount you’d like. My husband order the Panini breakfast and despite his typical bland no frills standard this was a great pick for him (my tacos were beyond his palate ability as a complete meal… though he did sample).
We enjoyed our breakfast with friends and all of our food was great (note the fruit bowl is not a big winner — Eric this comment is for you) ;)
The service was STELLAR! I always had a full cup of coffee and water (again much needed). We took our leisurely time and enjoyed the conversation and atmosphere… definitely will return again.
Lastly my only reason for no 5 stars is I would’ve loved a Bloody Mary or Mimosa… but there’s no alcohol served here. Sometimes those little drinks just complete the whole vacation breakfast.
Definitely check it out and if the Unilocal incentive is there… grab it. I purchased it right when we arrived and it was simple and easy to use!

Ask for Will to be your waiter, he gave us awesome service! Chicken tacos, BBQ chicken salad, and a s’mores crêpe were all on point! And don’t forget your expresso poured over a scoop of vanilla gelato!

Despite the little review this place gets, don’t let that fool you!
I food here was better than I expected especially for a high tourist area loaded with overpriced restaurant with mega mediocre food.
What to get: crepes (any flavor because it’s loaded and freshly made) and b-​rock sliders because the beef wasn’t dried (the most important concept in a burger).
Ambiance was great too! It felt clean, fresh with a touch of hip unlike the rest of Put-​in-​Bay!

Atmosphere: probably the one and only hipster-​like restaurant on the island. They played Paolo Nutini = instant like from me
Service: A+ .tentative and kind
Food: Try all of their crepes (smoked salmon and the one with prosciutto was yummy). Sandwiches were normal and the sliders were good.

Loved this place for breakfast! Ordered the fancy pants crêpe which had smoked salmon in it and a poached egg on top. Cooked to perfection and only around $ 10-​$ 12 a plate.
The service was professional and quick.
They had a nice thin patio out back with six beers on tap. It was just a nicer atmosphere here and made you feel slightly more classy than some of the other places on the island do.
This will definitely be a must stop when I return.

I had the B-​Rock sliders, they were very good. The staff was very friendly and our server was super nice. I will be coming back for breakfast next time…:)
