Flushing LIRR Station

This station could really use some improvement. For starters there should be a ticket kiosk by the westbound side. But I kind of understand why there isn’t… That entrance is sketch that little «alley» way to the stairs is gross and can be shady as hell at night. I recommend running up if you’re taking the west bound to avoid being in that area.
The east bound side is slightly better because It has more foot traffic and lighting. It’s still gross though, you’re bound to see huge rats chilling nearby.
2 stars for convenient location in flushing. Other than that ehhh

So annoying that the kiosk to buy tickets is only on the east bound side
You need to walk almost two more blocks through heavy pedestrian traffic if you want to buy a ticket and then walk back if you going west bound towards Manhattan
The train is always late on the weekends as well despite the signs saying no delays

This is a typical lirr station. It’s convenient and there are so many food places on Main Street.
Only problem that I have with this station is that sometimes I see poor stay animals hurt. I’m not sure if it’s from the train or from idiots harming them.

Fourth of July 2015 holiday was spent for an evening in Bayside, Queens via LIRR on the Port Washington line. Flushing LIRR station gets the job done as a means of conveyance boarding and exiting the train. No elevator access or ramp for the physically challenged for this elevated platform. Ticket booth is a microscopic tiny room and is closed at select times including holidays. Two self-​serve ticket machines are available outside by the Port Washington bound stairs. One overhead enclosed waiting area for inclement weather is available on both West bound and East bound platforms.
On the West bound platform (trains to New York) passengers can see a slew of sneakers dangling on power lines.

I really liked the trip to flushing yesterday, so quick & pleasant journey to home. Can you imagine it was only 2 stops & comfortable seats & you can watch a view outside the huge — huge window. Once in a while it’s a trip you should take & forget about taking a taxi. i don’t know how much it would cost but yesterday was an option of showing MTA unlimited metro card to access. Takes you straight to penn station & vice versa. Enjoy the ride next time.

This is quite a rough LIRR station. Hey, granted, it does the job, but come on, spend a couple of bucks to make it look presentable. This station looks like it’s going to fall apart at any second. Arriving from either Penn, Woodside, or Mets WP, if this is your first time in Downtown Flushing, you will not be impressed. When you arrive at the base of the stairs, the smell of trash and urine can be quite powerful. Hurry up on your way to hopefully one of the many excellent Asian restaurants nearby.

I was here during the Nor’Easter on November 8, 2012 and it was right after Hurricane Sandy so my review might not be fair, if I come back and have a better experience I will update this review.
It was very cold out on this day so I was extremely disappointed to find that there was no warming booth on the platform. I dislike any train stations without a warming booth or waiting room on the platform, shivering in the freezing cold waiting for a train isn’t fun, I’d rather stand in a warm booth that smells like pee then out in the cold.
Getting off the train was easy, finding the platform on the other side of the street to go home that wasn’t so easy. I actually ended up missing a train and I had to wait a whole hour before the next train came. I don’t know if I was dealing with the modified LIRR schedule that happened after Sandy or if this was a normal time frame.
Also the conductors are way too on top of their game here. I would have gotten to free rides from Babylon to Flushing, except both times my tickets were checked in Flushing :(Conductors don’t check the tickets so fast! Not that you’ll listen to me or read this!

This is much better than taking the 7^th train, is faster and cleaner. It takes around 25 minutes travel time from Flushing to Penn Station. You can not go wrong with it, well of cause it cost more than the subway.
The only thing is that they sometimes combined the train if the previous train was cancelled. Then the train would be crowded. However it doesn’t happen that often.

Compared to the subway this is a luxury, it gets me in an out of the city minus all the needless fanfare of the 7 train.
The only issue I have is that the manhattan bound train is on the other side where i have to walk a block away from the lirr station. I mean its not a pressing issue but a minor inconvenience

Compared to the ride from Penn Station to the Flushing stop, using the LIRR is an upgrade to the 100^th Power:)! it’s much cleaner, quiet and of course quicker:) than the 7 train to Flushing. This particular station usually isn’t crowded with people, which is great, a less crowd sometimes means a better chance of seats:)! 3 stars for how close it is in walking distance to my job:)! –2 stars for limited time to meet w/​a LIVE PERSON (not a machine) at the booth… Other than that there’s not too much to fault, nor too much to compliment!

Happy happy, joy joy! For I no longer have to wait at this crappy LIRR train station every morning.
It is old and raised up on a platform, exposing riders waiting for the train to all the elements. In the winter it is extremely windy and cold, in the summer, it is searingly hot. The worst was when it rained and the train is late, and the train is often late. The only respite you get from the elements are the metal enclosures that never fail to smell like urine. The other stations along this particularly LIRR line are equipped with much better facilities.
