Cook Out off of Western Blvd is the place to be late at night. It’s definitely a must for NC State students. The double drive through is always long, and there’s constantly a line of people at the walk up window during peak hours. The service has always been quick when I’ve been(4 – 5 times) and my order comes out correct with hot and fresh food. Don’t expect anything gourmet or fancy here. You get what you pay for and what you’re getting is a good amount of fast food for a very reasonable price. My go to is a hamburger tray cook out style with a corn dog, chicken wrap, and a cheerwine for $ 5(+$ 1 for cook out style). The sides here are amazing, especially the $ 1 dozen hush puppies that are always super fresh. I also really enjoy the milkshakes and the best is that you can mix and match and add whatever toppings you want to your shake. If you add a shake onto your tray order, it’s only a $ 1 extra! Overall, Cook Out is a lot fast food for a good price, and there is a lot of variety with the menu, sides, and milkshakes so you can get exactly what you want.

Yikes — stopped by about 11:15 on a sunday morning 2 dogs and a diet coke, seems easy enough ! Now I understand this unit is generally a late night stop for drunken state students so wasn’t expecting much . Hots dogs were awful, buns cold, the attempt to heat the chili(microwave I guess failed miserably) ate about half of one and tossed the rest as it was inedible. Seemed the unit was not ready to serve for lunch — cold buns & chili — the diet coke was fine and the crushed ice is nice, but nothing else good to report here — final annoyance, no napkins in the bag, just the two awful hot dogs which were trashed ! Tighten up your game guys — two dogs and a drink should not be that hard to pull off !

Fabulous milk shakes that you get addicted to. Also try the hush puppies they are great. There’s always a long line but the food comes out pretty fast. Definitely worth a try if you’ve never had their food.

Those milkshakes though. I know everyone knows about the Cook-Out milkshakes, and they are the real deal. I have yet to have a bad one, but the watermelon, banana pudding and peach cobbler are my favorites. The only downside(or upside, really) is that there are no Cook-Outs in California, where we live. Until they make their way out west, which will hopefully be soon(a girl can dream, right?), I’ll have to wait for our trips back to NC to indulge in all the milkshakes. Also, they have a drink size of «huge» which in and of itself wins 5 stars from me.

To put it simply I would die without Cook Out. It has been a slow process but my bones and organs have started to become food from Cook Out because I have ate there sooo much. If Cook Out was a girl I would take it out shopping, buy it a nice dress and then take it to Cook Out for dinner. Cook Out is the wick to my flame, the bee to my honey, the conductor to my orchestra. Please indulge in this heavenly bliss! Also get the hush puppies they are orgasmic… even though they made me throw up once… I still eat them every time I go.

You can’t get a better deal than a Cook Out Tray — a burger, 2 sides, and a drink for $ 4. Add about $ 1 and get a milkshake instead. And the milkshakes are customizable — so choose any flavors you want and combine them to your stomach’s content(see below). My go-to is the burger with lettuce, grilled onions, ketchup, and Cajun seasoning. All of their sides are good — french fries, onion rings, hush puppies, chicken nuggets — all delicious. In the summer time — do yourself a favor and get the watermelon milk shake. It might sound gross, but it’s my favorite milkshake flavor at Cook Out. When they don’t have watermelon, I go with either: 1) Peach Cobbler + Blueberry — those Nilla wafers… 2) Banana Triple Berry 3) Oreo Mint(which is like Oreo + Mint Chocolate Chip) The possibilities are endless. Literally, endless. I can’t believe there are still combinations out there that I haven’t tried. Like… Reeses Cups + Mint Chocolate Chip — I mean, how is that even legal? Did I mention their pulled pork barbecue is pretty good too? Oh, and at this particular location, you can get a rad Cook Out t-shirt for only $ 2. Need I convince you any more to go to Cook Out?

Let me start by saying how upsetting it is that New York has no Cook Out. I happened to have stayed with friends for a night nearby and knew before I even got on the road that I’d be making sure to stop at one. Quick and friendly service, the food is so cheap… and it’s also my favorite! The shakes are always my favorite part. I even bought a shirt they were selling here for almost nothing! I hope to return soon.

The service was very poor and they treated me like I was bothering them for asking them to correct my order. I have yet to have a pleasant experience at this location.

After posting my previous review, I have been abused relentlessly by friends and coworkers. How dare any Southerner rate Cook Out 2 stars? After careful consideration, I’m inclined to reevaluate. The Cook Out tray still remains one of the best values in fast food. Get an entrée, 2 sides, and a drink for typical fast food prices. Entrees include burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, and pulled pork, also known as barbecue ’round these parts. Sides range from the typical fries, onion rings, and hush puppies to the incredible, such as corn dogs, chicken wraps, and quesadillas. Upgrade to one of the better milkshakes out there for only $ 1 more. Plus, this is Raleigh. Where are you actually going to go to feed the beast when it’s 3AM? All that said, I can’t do more than restore my original 3 stars. Not for this Cook Out. They have some of the worst fast food staff that I’ve ever encountered. Sometimes, if they mess up, it’s not that big of a deal. One time I ordered a chicken wrap as my side and received hush puppies instead. Somebody is moron, but it still was a good meal. Other times, I’ve been shorted a chicken tender, given a burnt burger, and all sorts of other not-delicious mistakes. No fast food worker actually makes enough money to care, but the Hardees at Avent Ferry and Gorman is an example of actual good service. 3 stars and you can’t make me go any higher. Cook Out is a good restaurant. This Cook Out is an okay restaurant. Oh and, beware of phantom upcharges. They once again added cheese to my burger without me requesting it.

Got the Big Double Burger tray with chicken wrap and corn dog sides, sweet tea and pineapple shake. Can’t beat the price and everything tasted great.

They are consistently a great place to get a flavorful burger that doesn’t seem or taste like fast food. Everything is made to order and fresh and has been that way for as long as I can remember.

Thankfully on a normal weekday during the lunch hour of 12 – 1, I got in & out of here pretty quickly. I always admire Cookout for the two drive-thrus. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich tray with hushpuppies & slaw, along with a Cheerwine. The voice in the speaker had a pleasant voice & repeated my order back to me. I pulled around to the window & she had my drink waiting for me. I paid & immediately my tray was ready. So basically, I was in & out of the parking lot in five minutes. Prices are reasonable & it’s pretty easy to get to & out of off Western Blvd. Food was delicious. Hushpuppies were hot & crispy, the chicken was crispy & spicy, the tomato & lettuce were fresh. The slaw was cold & looked freshly made.

I’ve been to every cook out in the Raleigh area. Driving back from ATL, this was my first stop. Everything is good. Once I got a wrong order(bbq chicken sandwich instead of burger) YUM. Best accident ever. I got my original order corrected and they let me keep the sandwich. I tried it, loved it, and now I get it every now and then. The grilled items are yummy and«calorie counting friendly«. There’s no place home. Ask for Cajun seasoning on ur onion rings and hushpuppies. And GETTHEHONEYMUSTARDDIPPINGSAUCE.

Lets see if I can be short: 1. Mcdonalds level prices, near Five-Guys level quality. 2. Fresh toppings, and oh that lovely char flavor! 3. Open super late, not much breakfast hour though. 4. Cajun fries(fries with cajun spice sprinkled). Get that and thank me. 5. People say milkshakes are super. 6. Friendly guys. 7. Extra charge for tomatoes and cheese.

Empty wallet, empty stomach? No worries, cook out’s got you covered! Although their food isn’t anywhere near nutritious, it is deep-fried sinful goodness! Their hush puppies is a must and don’t be afraid to show off your creative side when you make your milkshake with as many flavors as you’d like! So far I’ve maxed at 5 sweet flavors… past that, I feel like I’m straight up eating a bunch of candy bars with some milk on the side. This cook out is my favorite in the Triangle because… 1. they have plenty of nice/clean outdoor seating 2. the area isn’t so sketchy 3. the workers are super friendly regardless of the hour! This is the best place to satisfy your 3 am hanger!

I don’t know — I came here about 10 years ago on a visit and remember it much more finely than the reality that hit me when I ate here recently. I don’t think the menu has been updated since back then. Being that my food tastes have changed — no white starches and nothing friend — I should’ve known better than to eat here in the first place. But I do expect restaurants to get with the times and update their options to match the current food climate — GF bread, veggie burgers, maybe? Guess not.

This is about no-frills as a fast food place can get. A little menu in the corner, with a bunch of options and dirt-cheap prices. The guy at the counter was helpful in suggesting the«tray» option which is basically the«meal» version of this place. What $ 10 got me: regular sized cook-out style burger, cook-out style hot dog, a peanut butter fudge milkshake, a side of nuggets(4), and a side of hushpuppies(8). Not bad at all. Burger isn’t the best ever but it really hit the spot. The milkshake was phenomenal, although it’s hard to mess up peanut butter and chocolate. Nice place for a very very quick meal. Since it was my first time there I thought you get a free shirt, but apparently it’s $ 2 now. Good souvenir though,

I am not a fast food do-er. But, Cookout has made me a cheater. Sorry dine ins, sometimes we need a little break. And it’s open über late! Their burgers are juicy, perfectly fast foodsy in a delicious way. And it’s not a patty thinner than a pancake! I tried the cheeseburger with bacon and onions, Cajun fries which were not so Cajun and the come back, banana pudding milkshake! OHEMGEE! Their milkshakes definitely bring me to their yard. My eyes lit up brighter than the sign I was looking at. Line was long but I only waited 6 minutes. Way to go! Total success. Buddy who told me about this deserves a high five!
