Second move with Excel and once again I was very pleasantly pleased. Great team and very efficient at that.

Matt, Natalie, and FoFo were wonderful to work with! This is the first time I’ve used a moving company, so I was very nervous. I was also transporting a very expensive grand piano, which arrived in good conditioned (and remained almost in tune — shocking). Matt did the walk through and accurately estimated my needs. Natalie arranged the logistics, and the crew members were early both to pickup and delivery. FoFo managed the moving crew and was WONDERFUL! I can’t tell you how comfortable he made me feel about the move & the care he gave to my belongings. I would definitely recommend this company!

Moving to Denver has been an extra stressful event. However, I would highly recommend if you’re moving short or long-​distance this company. Excel –allied van lines. They are a superbly professional group and the epitome of what moving and relocation should be.
My people were professionals, no-​high pressure sales tactics and extremely warm. Amanda was my initial sales agent. She’s funny, we’ll-spoken and a great agent. Natasha is hilarios, dedicated to customer service and gets chill bumps when they do a great job. The moving tan had extra supplies and was very friendly, efficient, and helpful as they moved my two bedroom in under 2 hours. This team was amazing. Plus, the girls are eye candy; while being professional. Would recommend then over any group or self move anytime.

Our all-​around experience with this Raleigh Excel/​Allied team was AWESOME.
Matt and Natalie were great in setting up our preferred date, managing our move, and when needed slightly adjustments in time, they were great and fast. Natalie was checking with us all throughout the process from pick-​up to even after delivery. Durham to Dallas, they did a wonderful job! I also thought the price was very fair. The Pick-​up team very careful, VERY Professional, safe, and quick. All around an Awesome team!!! We could not be happier with our experience!
On the delivery day, we didn’t expect the guys until after 11am. Wilson called about 8:30a saying they were ready if we were. I thought, wow! early… great!
When they got here, they got the tour and immediately laid out all their runners, cardboard, dollies etc. Since it was raining when they got here, they kept one dolly inside and transferred items to that to be moved throughout the house so they did not drag a wet dolly throughout the house. They could not have been any more conscientious or respectful.
Not only were Wilson and Ryan professional, they are genuinely great people and we enjoyed the pleasure of getting to know them.
Our entire move with Allied has been a pleasure. We will certainly be recommending you all to anyone we know who is in need of a moving service. We can’t thank you all enough.

Moving is stressful enough without this company.
We are a military family so we have been through our fair-​share of moves… this was by far the worst move we have ever gone through.
Someone came out to do a quote and went through the whole house with my husband. My husband told him that we were doing a bit of a complicated move where some of our boxes would go to storage and some to the apartment. He also told him that we would try to box up a lot of our stuff ourselves but there would still be packing to do (the kitchen in particular). They arranged a Wednesday pick up date, and a Sunday move-​in date.
I was quite proud of everything that I had packed up into boxes by the time the movers came… I thought I had made their job so much easier. I left boxes untaped so that they could add things to boxes if they wanted and make sure items were packed to their satisfaction (as I had learned in the past movers appreciate due to liability). When the «drivers» arrived however they said they had been told that EVERYTHING was going to be packed and ready to go. They told us that Allied was going to charge us per box to be packed. On top of that, they told us they were going to be moving us in «tomorrow» (Thursday) even though we had been told Sunday. Not only did our lease in our new apartment didn’t even start until Friday but my husband wasn’t going to be in NJ until Saturday night because his flight was already arranged! After finding out that we were a military family, a lot of negotiating from my husband, and a complete anxiety attack from me, the movers agreed to move us in the date we were originally told, and to pack our boxes with no extra charge. (of course we had to go out and buy boxes because they didn’t come with enough because they were told they didn’t need to pack us.)
I will say on a positive note that most of our stuff showed up in good shape and in the right place except for one important kitchen box. We assume this box is crammed in our storage unit but without a $ 70 cab ride there is no way for us to find out if it’s there. I had a lot of things that they missed around the house that I had to bring on my own. We also had to buy new mounting equipment for our tv.
This was NOT a good move. I don’t blame the drivers, I blame the company for the obviously TERRIBLE communication between the original quote guy and the drivers. It was enough though to add a lot of stress to our move.
If you have more than just a local move, I would avoid this company.

I found Excel Moving and Storage via the Internet and I am extremely happy that I did! My mother passed away and I had a critical deadline to move her home items within a weeks time since I live outside NC. Excel not only was able to schedule my move right away, but they helped to schedule two moves for me in order to send my mother’s furniture to two different destinations. When they arrived, the quality of service was definitely what I envisioned. They quickly got things wrapped up tight and got them out of the apartment fast. I spoke to my family members at the delivery destinations and they were wowed at the speedy delivery and with how quickly and professionally Excel unloaded and set everything up. I will DEFINITELY look to use Excel when it is time for me to relocate to NC in the next year. Thanks Excel!!!

I used Allied Movers on a move 3 years ago and was very happy with their service. I wasn’t happy I had to put a clim in, but was taken care of in a timely manner.
This move I once again chose to use Allied Movers out of Raleigh, NC. The Driver was both respectful and professional from door to door. I was quoted a guaranteed price and was told my weight was higher then anticipated and had to pay an up charge. The drop off date was later then expected, but was notified along the way of the changes.
To be fair the driver is the most important part of the experience. So I give him a 5 and the company a 3 averaging a 4…

I found Excel through a good friend who had great past experience with them. My first move was to get all of my belongings out of my house after it sold, and then several months later they moved my girlfriend and me out of her Durham apartment. All of my stuff was stored in Raleigh and then the combined load was shipped out to Los Angeles. It was a success.
Listen — moving and relocating is a crazy process to manage and ultimately survive (to the sourpuss commenters). Also, everyone participating needs to be on top of things and collaborate to make this work. My sales (Josh), operations (Amie), moving Teams (in Raleigh, Durham and LA) and accounting contacts (David, Patti) at Excel made everything work out for me better than expected.
Including a call I had today, they’ve been thorough and given me great customer support. This has not been an easy process for me to complete and my body is exhausted from packing/​unpacking, but Excel has been there to support.

Absolutely terrible experience! I picked this company because of their almost suspiciously high reviews. I now believe that yes, indeed, they are posting great reviews throughout the Internet, as there is no way this company provided me a nightmare moving experience and others such a perfect experience. Josh came out to do the estimate. He was personable and professional, and instilled confidence. I thought it odd that he confided in me that this was a «loser» move for the company, as it was small and they would make no money on it, but let that pass. He promised me repeatedly that I would have the delivery date before the truck came to pick up my things so that I could plan travel et al for my long distance move. He was in contact constantly urging me to get him my payment information and signed contract. I did so, and upon receipt of my credit card info, the nightmare began. I was passed on to a moving coordinator who seemed to be on drugs. She could not get the most simple aspects of the move. I called Josh, who from that point on was flat out rude, or simply refused to pick up the phone. Three days before my tentatively scheduled pick up date, I still had no actual confirmation of the pick up. It seemed that the company could not find a driver to do my mov, and reaching anyone at the company was nearly impossible. Finally, I was given a confirmed pick up day and time, three days before the move. This was Thursday, my pick up day was scheduled for Monday. I received a call Friday from a woman to again confirm my pick up. It was odd, as this woman was not my move coordinator.
Woke up at the crack of dawn on pick up day to pack up my last minute things for my eight am to ten am pick up. At ten thirty, no truck had shown up, and no one at Excel was answering the phone. After leaving repeated messages, I finally got a call back at eleven am. The person coordinating my move had seemingly been fired a few minutes after we talked on Thursday. The truck that was supposed to move my stuff didn’t and wasn’t going to show up. The woman now helping me told me that she normally worked from home, but was trying to fill in for the woman that was fired. I was told that a driver had been called in from Greensboro, and would arrive between noon and one, and he would be able to give me my delivery date as soon as he loaded my stuff. At two thirty, no driver, no truck, and, again, no one picking up the phone at Excel. Finally, a driver shows up, who is going to drive my load back to Greensboro and unload it into their warehouse there, with no driver even on the schedule to pick it up and deliver it.
At this point, I told the driver that I was not going to allow this company to move me. Even he could not reach anyone at Excel! He could not be assigned my move, because, as a dispatcher told me, a fully loaded truck had been left in their parking lot that morning as one of their drivers had driven it in, quit, and walked away. I even called Allied, the big kahuna company that Excel works with, and they could not reach anyone at Excel! When I was finally contacted, I was treated as if I was a nuisance! I never received a single apology for this debacle!
This seems to be a company that is imploding from within. After the fact, I found out that they have constant turnover, and my experience had become the norm. I wanted to directly talk to the owner, but no one will even give out his/​her contact information. There is so much more to tell, but this is too long already. Really, this was a nightmare. At the end of the day, I felt I had no choice but to let them take my stuff, and it did arrive here in relatively good shape, thanks to an excellent driver. But overall, this was the experience that people write a few chapters in a book about. The Devil Wears Prada, The Nanny Diaries, My Move with Excel Moving and Storage. Absolutely, unforgivably unprofessional and disorganized.

I found Excel Moving and Storage through a discount program we have at work, when I wanted to move across the country. Josh was great when he came out to walk through my place for an estimate, very thoroughly taking notes. When I signed on the dotted line, I was assigned a person to coordinate everything. She helped arrange the pick-​up and drop-​off dates — that was a bit hairy in the beginning, as we couldn’t seem to get the drop-​off window straight… a bit unnerving when you’re talking about 1,900 miles away. We finally got it right though. She also called several times throughout the move to check on me, ask how things went, etc.
The driver was also very communicative, letting me know he’d be a little late for the pick-​up, although he made up for it by being early on the drop-​off. He even gave me his cell number in case I wanted to call him for anything while he was en route.
A nice perk was the free boxes, tape, packing paper, etc. (It should be, given how much money I plunked down!) The only thing that happened on the trip was my three wooden slats for my bed (extra support under the box springs) were accidentally unloaded at someone else’s house; the driver replaced those by getting new ones for me from a local Home Depot.
The only thing I would have changed about this whole experience would be to have a third guy on both ends to move things along faster.

Never actually moved with Excel. I had scheduled an appointment to have them provide an estimate. A few minutes before they were scheduled to show, they called to reschedule. Not the best first impression.

This was the worst moving experience of my life. They delivered our stuff to a private storage unit without even attempting to deliver to our new house. Then, when we tried to get them to deliver our things, they tried to extort almost the entire price of the move in additional fees for storage and ‘re-​delivery.’
They also wouldn’t allow us to pick up our things from the storage unit ourselves. It wasn’t until after we threatened litigation that we were able to free our belongings from the Excel/​Allied grip.
DO not do business with this company.
