TiP: If Tom asks you for a deposit, only pay for portion of work completed (example pay 50% when they are 50% complete). He may ask for more. Don’t do it. When Tom walked off without finishing our job, only bargaining chip was the remaining deposit.
Our experience with Estates Tree Service was so bad, it nearly ended in small claims court:
1. Waited 2 months for appointment. Appointment came. His team didnt finish, told us it’d be ANOTHER MONTH for them to come back.
2. Day of 2^nd appointment, NO SHOW. We call him and he rescheduled.
3. Day of rescheduled appointment, he calls and CANCELLED again. SAID HE HAD A BIGGER JOB.
4.****Day of 2^nd rescheduled appointment, job still not finished, and HE WALKS OFF JOB and TELLS ME TO HIRE SOMEONE ELSE. Meanwhile, he left a giant 50 ft tree laying in middle of our yard. This would cost thousands to clean up what they just left there!!!*****
5. A few weeks later, he calls out of the blue. Says he feels bad. Agrees to show up ONE MONTH later to finish the job.
6. Did great job that final day. Wish i could give 5 stars, but too much drama and lack of professionalism occured to rectify.
P. S. Dear Tom, i really appreciate you finishing the job, so much so, i was going to let this go and not share this experience. However, my gardener just told me today THEY FOUND THE FRESH EUCALYPTUS YOU AND YOUR TEAM HID IN OUR YARD. Booooo. It is now time to share this story with no happy ending.

Made an appt for 4:30−5pm and was not sure I could make it so had my wife take off work to be home. At 4:27pm received a voicemail from Tom that he could not make it because he had company coming and he had to be there. I can understand if there is something that comes up for re-​scheduling, but 3 minutes before scheduled appt time is not a time to tell the customer. This is unprofessional and bad business. It is obvious this company has enough business to not need mine or my referral for others.

Had roofers on their way in a few days, forgot I needed to remove branches blocking parts of the roof. Called my normal guy but he was super buried. I call Estates and he said he would take a look the next day, got here and said I’ll do it right now.
My poor planning and not realizing the trees would affect the roofers put me in a pinch, Estates pulled me out of it, no problems, no questions asked, made short work of my poor planning.

Estates tree services does great work. They arrive on time and the employees are very professional. They also clean up after the trimming or removal is complete. The price was reasonable. I will be calling them again.

The service was outstanding. They did three huge eucalyptus trees and trimmed some huge branches that were close to the house. Again outstanding.

Wow. .just wow!!! Tom and his crew were awesome… what took my husband and I 4 days to do 2 years ago took these guys less than 2 hours… they were quick and cleaned everything up as well… nice guys… even though my dog didn’t think so… fine job gentlemen. .thanks so much… my Christmas decorations will be awesome this year. Tom the tree guy, owner of Estates Tree Service and his crew just came out and removed a huge tree from our yard. As much as I hated to see the tree go Tom pointed out that it was being killed by beetles and was not going to get any better. So buh bye tree. They also ground up a big fat mess from when my buddy and I trimmed some of the smaller trees in my yard. Happy happy when I got home from work and saw all the mess GONE!! My neighbors recommended Tom to me and now I am recommending him to you!

Just moved to the estates & our home has solar panels. Unfortunately, we had this huge half dead pine tree in front blocking the sun from the panels. Don’t get me wrong, I love trees but this one had to go. The Estates Tree Service did a great job! Reasonable rate for the size of the tree & it was completely done in one day! Tom and his crew did an excellent job– and it was a lot of work. They felled five 90′ palms plus four other trees, hauled them away and cleaned up. His estimate was a great deal considering all that they had to do, and they came through! I checked around and talked around– he will give you a great price. Don’t waste time calling around when you could book them now.

Tom Coone and Estates Tree Service just finished cutting down a giantic tree (4 trunks) at my home. They also took out three smaller trees and trimmed another huge tree. I am so happy with their work, they were so efficient and so nice. They cleaned up the area better than it looked before they started! I would use them again, when needed, without hesitation and also highly recommend them to others. Than you Tom and workers!!!

Tom Coone and crew from Estates Tree Service have just departed our house. I cannot say enough about this Company and crew. We had 8 palm trees to be trimmed /​cleaned up and they handle the job in less than 2 hours. They are very professional; courteous and do an outstanding job. We will definitely use them again and we HIGHLY recommend them.

Tom and company knocked down a big, ugly Jacaranda tree along with trimming some pine branches that were crowding our SDG&E power line. Excellent job and fair price. Especially evident was the clean-​up including sweeping the roof which has now never looked so good. Estate Tree Service is highly recommended.

I spoke with Tommy on the phone and he was very friendly and helpful. The quote I received was the most affordable. Tommy and his crew did an exceptional job removing a large fig tree in my backyard. I highly recommend this company and would use their services in the future.

If you are looking for a tree service, look no further — Estates Tree Service is the company to go with! We had two gigantic trees in our back yard to remove and a couple more that needed trimming. Had two other companies come out to bid, one bid was more than twice Estate’s bid (and I got a lot of this-​and-​that about how it’s going to be a 3-​day job, etc.). Not only was Tom’s bid the lowest of the three, but I saw these reviews on Unilocal,so he got the nod.
Are we ever glad we did. Showed up on time, did a thorough job and a fantastic clean-​up job (including my neighbor’s yards where a lot of the tree branches fell as they were cutting the trees down). The entire job was done in about 8 hours. The entire crew were courteous and friendly, and you could tell they enjoyed working for Tom.

Had thies guys out to do a lot of tree trimming and cutting down and let me tell you what thies guys kicked some ass!!!

ETS did my neighbors trees and needed to use part of my yard as access to the trees. Before the work started I talked to the workers doing the service and they agreed to be careful & watch my plants and clean up afterwards. All was good at that point.
Then a short time later — when I went out to see how the work was progressing — I notices one of the men standing on my plants. Because they had the wood chipper going neither of us could hear the other — so I tried using hand signals to point out that he was standing on one of the plants. Now at this point he could’ve just stepped off — waved and smiled and everything would’ve been fine. But instead proceeded to yell at me — insisting that he wasn’t standing on my plants. Admittedly angered — he & I got into a HUGE shouting match. Profanity was thrown (yes — by both sides) but the fact is I was in reactionary mode. He was the first to use «off color» language.
Now when all this started I had no idea that the person I was arguing over such a trivial thing was (according to the employees) — «the owner» of the Estates Tree Service. Granted he wasn’t there when I first talked to his employees earlier that morning — but it seems logical that someone who is supposedly a professional would know without the being told to be careful on a customer’s neighbor’s yard and to act so childish & rude.
Moreover I feel if the owner can talk like that to a neighbor of a customer (a potential customer himself) then what kind of person is this? I truly feel sorry for his employees.
BTW his employees did as they promised and cleaned up afterwords with minimal impact on my yard. They are the only reason why I gave them 2 stars. But I would never use this service and I would advise anyone who sees them working on your adjoining neighbor’s property to watch out for the owner. Because he is totally unprofessional and has an extremely short temper.

We had four ugly eucalyptus taken out today. They looked like they might fall on the neighbor’s house. Tom and his guys did a great job and in less time than I expected. The price was much lower than I anticipated, having had trees removed in the past by other companies before moving up here to the estates. Now we have a lot of firewood to store and mulch to spread. They would have taken it if we wanted it gone, but we needed more mulch. Thanks to Estates Tree Service for such great prices and professional and neat work. — Susan
