Just had JR Putman out for a «tune up» check, as advertised 69.00 for a/​c check. Our appointment was from 8:00 a.m. — 10:00 a.m. Tim got there at 8:04 a.m., 1^st plus. Asked Tim if he’d clean the «screen» around the a/​c since I was worried it was stopping air flow. He said that’s what he did and got the leaves out of the unit. Said I was full of Freon (sp) He said he’d be happy to check the heater in the attic too and even unload the closet where the crawl space is. I said «how much more» he said «nothing» He checked everything and told us our unit was running perfectly. Couldn’t believe no up-​sale of any kind. Super nice personable guy. We’re sold. Out the door, $ 69.00 as promised.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. A few weeks ago, our air conditioner started blowing warm air. Not a good sign at the beginning of summer! Based on a promotion on a certain «wake up» radio program, I scheduled the $ 69 check, which is supposed to include 2 lbs of freon. I had to wait a week for an appointment, and when the tech finally showed up, he spent over an hour «diagnosing» our problem. He left me a quote for $ 1545 to fix a «reversing valve,» and of course recommended I sign up for their club membership. He also did NOT recharge the AC/​refill the freon! Isn’t that what I paid for? I called another highly-​rated, local company, who came out within a week, charged me a lower price, and diagnosed the problem – my AC was low on freon. He refilled it for a fraction of the quote JR Putman left, in about half an hour. I will never recommend this company and in fact have already told several people to never use them! I basically paid for this company to do nothing!

I had a diagnostic done by JR and the service was great. The service tech was on time and professional, and the owner puts customer service first!

I just spoke with Bill at JR Putman to see how much it would be to get an air unit up and running. The unit has not been run for 5 years and had the electrical pulled by the county a few years back. We are contractors and have hooked up everythng and wanted someone to come look at it before turning it on. I was told the tune up that is offered would not apply to them coming out. That’s fine with me I understand. He said there would be a fee of $$ and that the tune up would be the additional $$. I then asked how much coolant would be per pound and he said it varied between $ 100 and $ 350 a pound depending on the type. I then asked him if I needed 5 pounds of the R-​22 how much would it be and also for 4 – 10 coolant? He said it depends. WHAT??? Coolant is a fixed price. You know how much its costs and you can’t tell me what it is? He said no. They tell you when they come out. Really? Sounds like switch and bait to me.
If you are an honest company you should have no problem ansewering simple questions. In my opinion they aren’t honest.

Patrick did a fantastic job. We only needed the seasonal checkup but he thorough to make sure everything was in good shape. He also explained their membership program very clearly. So looks like I’ll be signing up soon.

Tim T. arrived first thing this morning and was very thorough with his maintenance of our HVAC system. Cleaned off the Condensor outside on the unit and changed the filter inside the house. He was quick efficient and respectful answering all our questions. Appreciated the great service.

Bailey came to do the annual A/​C maintenance service call today. He was extremely thorough and explained in great detail everything he performed in checking over the system. I appreciated his friendliness and performance. Great job, as always!

JR Putman Heating and Air sent out Adam and Oscar to install a new furnace and A/​C unit. These gentlemen were great, respectful and very pleasant!!! Answered any and all questions my husband and I had, even my neighbor’s questions. I would recommend this company hands down!!!

The tech (Eugene) came out to clean my furnace & showed me everything he did. He told me I needed a new heating & AC system which I suspected because the unit was original equipment to this 35 year old house. I had 2 companies give me an estimate for the new heater & AC. JR Putman had the best price. Mark M, Alan & Oscar came out the first day to install the units. They did a great job, kept me informed the whole day & did a great clean up before they left, Mark & Alan came back the second day & things went just as great as the first day. The only thing left is the insulation to be blown into the attic which will be done tomorrow. I fully expect everything to be great as the last 2 days,
I would highly recommend JR Putman & the men who did the work on my house.

The technician was on time and extremely knowledgeable. He took the time to explain exactly how he was going about trouble shooting the furnace. Friendly, professional and knowledgable; that’s almost unheard of these days. I will definitely contact JR Putman Heating and Air for any future heating or air needs.

Rick E. went above and beyond. He took the time to walk through every aspect of the service, providing me with some much desired knowledge of the water heater and furnace. He definitely met and exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Eugene was very courteous and professional. J.R. Putnam called to tell me when he would be here and he was on time. He explained everything clearly and was very helpful. I would use J.R. Putnam again and refer them to friends. I had used them previously and had referred my daughter to them. She was please with their service as well.

Be careful. My experience is that JR Putman will misdiagnose a problem in order to improve their bottom line.
They did not care about my issues but bent over backwards to protect a seller that had concealed a malfunctioning HVAC.
Putman reported falsely in order to protect a seller and Real Estate Agent. The defect was concealed and Putman management went the extra mile to deny it and further conceal it.

What an amazing group of people! I cannot recommend JR Putman Heating and Air enough. If I could I would give them 10 stars.

Tim L was at my home today to change out some Dampers and get my system back up and running. Tim was very professional and provide excellent feedback on what he was going to be doing, the amount of time expected to complete the service and was thorough to make sure everything was running like it should before he left. Glad the team at JR Putman has this talent working for them.

Amazing service! Had a new HVAC unit installed — Tim and Kenny were awesome!

Their tech came out a 2 days after calling about a dead furnace. Tech said I would be better off with a new one instead of fixing the existing hi end 90% efficient heater. Paid the guy his service fee and he left.
Their sales guy came out in 2 hours to give me a quote on a not so quite broken furnace. Sales guy was very high pressure and could install a new one in two days. After several times saying «I need to think about this», he had a rebuttal to everything. Wouldn’t leave till I signed their contract for a new install. So, had to call and cancel the sale. Btw, after a quick google search, the product he was pushing «Trane XV90» was apparently discountined in 2008. You cannot find this product on their website either.
I’m guessing they have old stock to clear out.
Got a second opinion on my furnace by their competitor same day. They said «you’d be stupid to replace this furnace.» Got my furnace up and running… and he didn’t charge me as the fix was quick. Left a price one a new one just in case and ran out the door. He did warn me that the fix might be temporary.
I will not being using JR Put (s)man on my new furnace install.

All things have been reasonably good following the installation of our new heating and air unit. 4 years into the relationship of the service maintenance agreement, every 6 months the JR Putman technician comes to our place to go through routine checkups on our combined unit.
Until recently, things were just fine. In our summer checkup six months ago, the technician suggested we add an additional filter that would improve our air quality into our home. The service and installation added up to over $ 800. First thought, here comes the up-​sales, three years in and they begin to find ways to make $. Fair enough, that is typical… Or is it?
I declined the upgrade for financial reasons and have kept that on my radar for future improvements.
One week ago Saturday, the technician came out to go through the winter check-​up. Long story short, the furnace has an exhaust crack and is covered under warranty but will cost $ 1,200 to fix… In labor! Meanwhile the technician suggested we not use the heater until it is fixed… In December. The worst part of it all, the tech said that the unit very well could be sending CARBON MONOXIDE into our home because if the crack… With four children, this news is NOT good. I immediately called the fire dept to ask them to check the CO levels in our home. Fortunately they could not detect any traces.
In addition to the fix, it was also recommended to include an additional intake to help the unit perform more efficiently. That my friends will be an additional $ 1,300.
I could go through many details regarding experience this week but I will spare you until I hear back from the manager I spoke to on Monday morning. On that note, I have yet to hear back following our initial conversations.
As always, service is king… I hope to show more stars at some point, but not feeling confident at this moment.
