Verano at Rancho Cucamonga Town Square

When I was crazy apartment hunting, this was on my top 10 list. From the Unilocal pictures and the website I was really attracted to the location, the different lay outs and the amenities they a have to offer.
We came in as a walk in and met with Albert. He was really nice and approachable. We toured the 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.
1. I noticed that there are only assigned parking and garage parking. Where do the guests park?
2. There were dog crap everywhere on the side walk… So does that mean their maintenance are super slow or disrespectful residents that don’t pick up after their dogs?
3. The unit we toured looked pretty brand new but smelled like urine :(
4. It’s a very quiet complex … Like TOO quiet. Especially for a weekend.
5. Parking is not included as part of your rent.
Conclusion: it’s a nice complex but we’ll pass.

I’ve been living here for almost 3 years in 3 months.
It’s a nice complex but the rent is insane! What started at about$ 1200 for a 1 bedroom now runs about $ 1500. Your rent easily increases about $ 1200/​year while they constantly take away the amnesties.
Most recently has been the business center and now all visitor parking has been removed. Yet you risk your car or anyone else’s car being broke into or towed by parking outside the gates.
Also when I signed I had a «blue» parking sticker and now I see «red» parking stickers. I was afraid to leave my vehicle parked in a numbered but not reserved parking spot for fear of towing if the new tow company wasn’t aware I was a resident.
It always seems like you have an African tribal dance happening above you at all hours of the day and night.
What disgusts me most is there is no repercussions for those jerks that let their dog poop everywhere and never bother to pick it up. Not only has my service dog gotten really sick (a $ 300 vet bill) but my neighbors at the time had to have her two dogs quarantined for kennel cough for 3 weeks. With plenty of pet stations around it’s pure laziness and lack of consequences that tenants get away with letting their dogs run off leash and poop everywhere.
Most recently there was little dog poop in our hallway and when I stepped out of my door and into the hallway I stepped in a puddle of pee (human/​dog? Who knows?)
Theft is an issue on first floors balconies. My neighbors below me had two bikes stolen and just today a gentleman had his nice motorcycle stolen.
The gates rarely work and the remotes are temperamental too.
My biggest upset with this place is I was recently hospitalized and this mad me late on my rent and short on my check. They were very kind to work with me. When I explained my emergency check was being overnighted (I honestly expected UPS to come to my door or else why am I paying you $ 20?!!) UPs took my parcel to the complex which management signed for and then decided not to tell me they received my package. (Just one of those thin overnight parcels). Had they told me they have it then I could’ve gotten it that same day, deposited into my account and cut them a cashiers check. Instead I couldn’t get my package until the opened the following day which was memorial weekend and my bank would not release the funds until May 31^st. I emailed the manager I would drop off the cashiers check and was then told «not not unless it includes June’s rent as well. (About $ 2400 total.) I said I would pay June’s by 3^rd and I’m not being given even 24 hours to pay June’s rent! I was told that if I didn’t have the full $ 2400 in one cashiers check then they would not accept payment!
This was 3 years of always paying on time and I couldn’t even be given the courtesy of being told they signed for my overnight parcel.
I’m honestly very disappointed in the place and management.
I will say Alfred, Brenda, and Bettie are very nice.

just to let you guys know whos ever having issues with the internet its because they made Verano complex address as a business address not a living or housing address so when you call any other provider they wouldnt be able to get entry or locate your apt because its on the system it shows that Verano is a «Business» address smh and maybe thats why it was only Verizon can provide internet and cable and UDR took a percentage of the profit cause the made all of the residence use Verizon wth!

Update: after deposit we are being charged over 2,000 dollars EXTRA. Maybe it would have been better to renew for the extra $ 1,200 per year.
Do not rent here, the rents always go up. You will end up paying thousands more than you originally agreed.

Background: lived here one year, decided not to renew.
This is a large complex. This means the manager tries to make money off of/​take advantage of the numbers. This includes releasing private information.
The security and maintenance workers here get kick backs from Dynamic Towing just for getting your car towed. Go check out the Dynamic Towing Unilocal reviews. Verano also allows repossession companies access.
Additionally, this udr complex advertises as a luxury complex. I do not feel we received luxury treatment. It is also important to note the gates are rarely working correctly, this may be a safety concern to prospective customers.

I’ve lived here since 2012. The FIRST years was fine, the SECOND year was «eh,» the THIRD year was «geez,» and the FOURTH year was «yikes.» I guess I was so desperate to give it another chance which is why I decided to renew my lease, but I’ve had it. As soon as my lease expires this year, my plan is to look for another place, unless the situation improves: My biggest problem are noisy neighbors vacuuming their floors at 10 or 11 PM, and sometimes even after midnight. Prior to that, I had neighbors downstairs who were probably very hard of hearing because I could hear and feel the heavy drums and base of their music all the way to my apartment, lulling (or more accurately «shaking») me in bed as I’m desperately trying to go to sleep. I don’t blame the Verano staff for this. It’s just my luck to be next to extremely inconsiderate neighbors who probably don’t realize that people like to sleep at night because they have to work the next day. I called the apartment patrol to complain about the noise but I guess they forgot my call because he never came. Oh well. The other issue for me is that there is no more guest parking. I guess you’ll just have to have visitors/​guests park outside at the risk of being towed. With the inconveniences I mentioned, I’m actually tempted to break my lease. But I’m just hanging in there to save money (breaking a lease here or anywhere for that matter is not cheap!). With that said, I can’t wait for my lease to end. So for this FIFTH and last year, I say «That’s it!»

Stay away!!! Only been here six months and hate it! UDR is the worst property management company out there! All there communities are mismanaged and the manager at verano is bad too. They took all visitor parking away, they took everyone’s assigned parking away making everyone have to park on the street. It’s a parking nightmare. Save your money and move do not move here!

I have lived here a little over a year, and renewed my lease a few months ago. While my first year living here was pleasant, I would now advise people to STAY AWAY due to recent changes in their policies.
As of March, they removed printing, copying, and faxing services in the business center in order to «go green» (more like to be cheap). These services were advertised at the time I had signed my lease, so it is only fair to keep them.
As other posts have noted, they recently changed their parking policy. Their new policy is to remove all visitor parking, and to assign people in one bedroom apartments only one parking garage. What if two people live in a one bedroom apartment? Is one person supposed to park their car outside the complex? At the time I had signed my lease, it was agreed that I would be allotted one parking garage and one parking space. Again, it is only fair to keep what was promised.
You may think these policy changes are minor inconveniences, but when you consider the fact that they increase your rent on a yearly basis, it is really frustrating. I am no longer getting my money’s worth and wish I had never renewed my lease!
Other than that, the staff in the office are very friendly. Maintenance is prompt and courteous. You can submit maintenance requests through their website, which is convenient. I have never had any noise issues with my neighbors. In fact, they are very welcoming.

This is the 1^st review that I write because I would like to warn everyone of Verano and any UDR managed complex!!! There are lots of other apartment complexes around the area, please heed my call and go somewhere else. This place is a fraud. I lived there for over 2 years. I should’ve known better when we first moved in, they promised a lot of things just to get me to sign the contract, but gave me the run around after moving in. My a/​c broke down and was leaking multiple times (which is odd for supposedly a new-​er complex). You have to fight for a parking spot pretty much everyday (the last thing I want after a long day at work). Security is in bed with the towing company, my car was towed in the middle of the night — I had to call off work that day. After fighting with the leasing office, they finally agreed to pay for half of the towing fee. Finally, when we moved out, they made sure to hit us up one last time. After cleaning for a good week or so, not only did they steal our $ 400 security deposit, they are charging us an additional $ 600. There were no damage to the unit, just your normal wear and tear. They were paid handsomely and in time $ 1800/​mo. So never again, stay far far away from Verano and any UDR managed complex!!!

During my past 6 months of living at Verano I have experienced quite a few issues with how things are handled and also the results that I have received with multiple issues I have had.
The tow company which is hired through Verano lines their trucks up every night and tow multiple cars from the complex. This would not be an issue if the way that they structured their parking passes was understandable. Not only are there not enough spots to park after 9pm for residences, but if you cant find a spot you must park outside of the gated complex, which I signed a 14 month lease that granted me ONE garage spot and ONE outdoor spot. This «lease» is now being altered by «corporate» to allow only ONE garage spot for a one bedroom layout. Giving myself and my girlfriend no other choice but to risk one of our vehicles being stolen or broken into on the street with no liability or repercussions towards Verano.
Noise and suspicious activity have been Another issue which has been ongoing since the tenant next to us moved in approximately 2 months after us. We had NO noise issues or complaints with the previous tenants. The noise is Not the average «having some people over» noise, but loud intential banging on the wall, vacuuming, hammering, strange characters who look like they could potentially be homeless coming to her door and doors slamming sometimes up to 10 times a night and at all hours of the day. We have talked to the management approximately 5 to 6 times about this reoccuring issue and they keep giving us the «run around»… Which is, «Sorry we have to get it approved through corporate before anything can be done. «
The Verano apartment complex should not be considered a «luxury» apartment complex by any means, especially since as of March 3^rd, 2016, they will be taking out their printing, copying and faxing privileges at the business center. Although this is a luxury I also signed a document knowing this would be available to any resident of Verano. The first 6 pages of this document apparently state, according to an office clerk I spoke with, Verano is allowed to change anything in the lease if they give you notice. If I could break this lease and get out of this «luxury» apartment I would do it in a heartbeat. My simple words of advice would be to stay away from this complex and pay maybe 200 dollars more to get a far more superior complex and responsive staff, which Verano is lacking!

I’m giving it two stars because it is a very nice, well maintained complex that I thought was safe and quiet. To pay a high price for this complex you would think it would be safe, quiet, and a good place to live. Unfortunately the managers who work in the office have been ignoring my spouse and I for a number of different reasons. We have complained numerous times about our neighbor who is conducting illegal activities and purposely trying to harass us. We feel unsafe and harassed on a daily basis and have expressed that to the office multiple times. We have asked to move apartments and have some action taken, but nothing from the office has been done. We have also asked twice for them to have someone look at our disgusting carpet from the previous tenets. But still nothing. I understand people have a way of living but when they have suspicious people coming and going up to the apartment every night and they are continuously harassing for months, something should be done. Also there is hardly any parking. We are forced to park outside and they are taking away even more parking and assigning one bedroom homes only one garage, even though there are 2 of us living there.

We moved in about 6 months ago and well it’s been amazing. The management is very nice and responsive. The overall complex is very well maintained. My apartment was clean and smelled new when we moved in. Verano is perfect with all the amenities to go with it and kind staff. I don’t know why people write reviews about the people living around them lol not relevant to the actual apartments. I’m not about to sit here and complain about tenants and potential bad habits. There’s only so much you have control over right? At the end of the day the overall vibe this place gives off is chill. Great job guys keep it up!

Maintenance service is terrible! I have lived in other luxury apartment complexes and have always received great service. Not only is Verano maintenance slow in responding but employees are rude. I needed maintenance in my bathroom tonight and I was told they would be here in 15 mins. One hour and a half later I called back and was told they cannot make it. I don’t understand why they asked for my number and then tell me they can’t make calls. I am extremely unhappy and will definitely not recommend this place to anyone. Not only am I treated negatively but also there are roaches everywhere including the pool area. And many residents have mentioned this problem.

It makes me sad to leave a bad review cuz I love the staff on a personal level but this place is going down hill. We pay almost $ 2,000 a month and it seems like every other month there is some amenity being cut or some new policy taking place. No business center, no printing or faxing. Which is a huge inconvenience. The parking is a disaster. For $ 2,000 a month for a ²⁄₃ bedroom you have to pay an additional $ 10.00 for parking. Which ur parking spot is far from your home.
Like I said, I love the staff in the office but it’s just not worth the price.

I honestly didn’t read these reviews before moving in, and good thing I didn’t! Each of these reviewers have points they want to share, but none of them did I find so horrible to not moving in these apartments. Not only is the staff really responsive, and very kind with any request needed. BUT the location is PRIME! I mean who could ask for a better location right in the heart of the beautiful city of Rancho Cucamonga?! Across the street from Target, down the street from every food place ever needed… it’s really a great place to be for such a reasonable price range!
Noise is something you will have everywhere, but the way these units are set-​up you feel so private in every location cause it is set-​up like a courtyard. We barely heard anyone, and when we did (if it was too loud for our liking) we would reach out to the front lobby or security and the problem was handled right away.
We never ran into issues with our cars being broken into, or being towed. That’s not only cause we have parking passes, but simply cause it just wasn’t an issue even when we didn’t have passes.
The ONLY reason we left this apartment was due to finding a newer apartment in La Verne exactly where we wanted to end up. If that option didn’t happen so soon we would have stayed here even longer.
When it came time to moving out, the staff was very helpful and informative of all their policies. Not only were they very fair, but also worked with us to communicate daily/​weekly with updates on our apartment being on the market. I couldn’t ask for better communication and customer service from Albert, Betty & Jody at the Verano Apartments.
This place is really great, and for a one bedroom, well kept (like new) in the HEART of Rancho for under $ 1,500?! That is a true steal! Check them out for sure!

Honestly I don’t know why people complain so much, Verano has been great to me. As for towing and theft. My boyfriend and I have experienced both. He forgot to put his little parking sticker on his new car, that’s his fault not the apartments. We left our garage open all night on accident. Came down in the morning to see my car had been rummaged through and they had taken a few things. Yes that sucked but hey it’s my fault, I left the garage open. I can’t blame the apartment. Our washer broke and someone came to fix it the next day. Easy. I love it here.

My husband and I moved in to a 2 bed 2 bath townhome a month ago. We haven’t had any problems so far. Yes the residents can be noisy, but because we are in a townhome we do not hear them. We live close to civic center but rarely hear loud cars or bikes. So far if I had to call the courtesy patrol, they have been nice and have shown up in a timely manner. There are people who do not pick up after their dogs, but there are bags and the management really can’t do much more than that. At least it is people with small dogs who don’t pick up. The manager has always been nice and has gone out of her way to help. The leasing consultant that we had was amazing. Albert has a great personality and was professional. After looking at almost all of the apartments in rancho, it was his personality and professionalism that sold us. The best complex we have ever lived in.

They’re billing department is deceptive and rude.
We recently moved out of Verano. Before leaving we spent a good deal of time cleaning the carpets, bathrooms… the whole apartment. We then asked a representative from their office to do a walk through the apartment to make sure that it is clean and to their standards. Their service manager told us after the walk through that the apartment was very clean and that there were no concerns.
Naturally we expected to receive much of our $ 300 deposit back. However, we received a bill for $ 180!!! I called their office thinking that there may have been a mistake. After two weeks of cat and mouse I was finally able to speak with Heidi. She had an abrupt and aggressive tone right off the bat. She would continuously interrupt me and told me to refer to the contract and that I should return the apartment in its initial condition. When I could finally finish telling her my story that we had their manager evaluate the apartment before leaving, she referred to another page in the contract that even if a manager from their company evaluates the apartment, they can change their decision! I could not listen to her and the fraudulent business that UDR is running. They have an extensive contract and they have probably found hundreds of ways to rip people off, this being one of them. Like the reviewer before, I will too be going to the Better Business Bureau with this complaint.
I would avoid this apartment complex and UDR in general because they will rip you off upon your departure!
