Janette makes the best cakes ever! I will be order ALL cakes from her in the future. They are beautiful and taste heavenly.

Janette Paramo the owner does wonderful work. She made my wedding cake exactly as I asked. So glad to have found a shop for my important future events.

I love this bakery. The owner is so nice. I often stop by and pick up a scone or some other pastry and haven’t been disappointed at all.

I ordered a cake for my daughter’s baby shower, gave them several pics & overall it was really cute & the cake was great, much better than Sublime that looks good but tasted blahh… Service was good. My only complaint was the gal who makes the custom cookies was impossible to get ahold of & her website was not even up… Lost my business for good! Cake was about the same price as sublime. Not sure this place will make it but I like another choice other than sublime! Good luck!

Tried them for my birthday cake. I live for my birthday cake. It was the worst. We were unable to eat it. The cake had more of a muffin type texture. Was SO dense. the filling was glopping out everywhere, huge blops when we cut it. Don’t recommend it. Won’t go back. The best part… the icing. It was beautiful.

I live out of town but planned a bridal shower for my daughter here in Redding because most of our family loves here. My mom took the picture of the cake my daughter wanted to cake is the best part and everything seemed to be acceptable. The shower was yesterday and unfortunately the cake didn’t look the same or even that close to the one we wanted. Totally different flowers (which were falling off and dying), no design in the buttercream and most disappointing was the cake itself. The lemon was so hard on the outside people left that part on their plate. It was dark brown on the outside crust and really didn’t taste great. I didn’t have the red velvet but can say overall it wasn’t worth the money spent and it honestly was disappointing.

This little bakery far exceeded our expectations for our baby shower cake. Everyone loved it and we were so pleased. The baker/​artist created it from our exact drawing. Job well done!

Unfortunately I had a bad experience for my 21^st birthday cake here LAST YEAR. I finally decided to take the time to write a review regarding this simply because I am home visiting and throughout my recent travels since, have discovered an array of much better places to go. The cake was terrible, dry and the frosting was salty (how does that even happen?) Furthermore, I wanted a my two tiered cake to be fuchsia, and instead it was more like hot pink. I also had a stiletto heel hand crafted for the top which appeared as though a 4 year old did it. The owner (and primary cake decorator I’m assuming) was a genuinely kind hearted lady and I have seen her work before, which was incredible. So this one time experience was extremely disappointing. I am not sure if she had someone she was training do the cake, because there is no way such a talented artist as herself could have come up with such a bad creation. If you intend to get a cake in Redding, I would highly recommend going to sublime or sweet spot instead for the sake of consistency and reliability!

While recently on a short lunch time errand run I stopped in to grab a quick lunch while I was waiting for prescriptions to be filled at the pharmacy next door.
The place was a nice little establishment with three or four people eating there when I arrived. The place smelled great with all of the baked goods. At first it took a moment or two for the cashier to address me and take my order once I stood near the register and at the time didn’t think too much of it. Ordering went well, I ordered a sandwich side salad, and a drink to go then sat down at an open table to wait for my order.
After approximately 20 minutes I began to wonder about my order and looked into the kitchen and didn’t see too much activity except for a few people working on baking. Didn’t look like anyone was making a sandwich. After a few moments I got up and went to the register to inquire about my order. To my surprise no one knew what I was talking about until the cashier came into the room and said «Oh Yeah». After a few minutes they found my order slip, which was still near the cash register and was never taken to the back to be filled.
Frustrated I left to get my prescription and returned to pick up my lunch. Surprisingly there was a young woman to meet me at the front door to hand me my order. However this good gesture was wasted, as I later discovered that my side of potato salad was substituted for soup which I did not order. I would expect this level of forgetfulness or lack of customer service if this place was super busy and packed the gills at lunch. However it wasn’t and it was unlikely they didn’t see me sitting in the dining area waiting for my order.
In all the food was good at best and I may have considered returning in the future if it weren’t for the service. I value customer service at places where I choose to spend my money and I try to support small local businesses when I can, however I left this place with a bad first impression and as such I am unlikely to return or recommend this place to others and I am unlikely to come back.

This is a great little bakery and serves up some wonderful atmosphere. The workers are pleasant, interesting and helpful. On this visit, I needed something to bring my blood sugar up and the Chicken Caesar Salad was perfect! Everything about it was perfect — the lettuce, the croutons (oh, the croutons!), the chicken (moist and flavorful, not like a lot of places where the chicken is dried out), and the dressing was delish! I can’t say enough good things about this business.

Cute crafty cupcake type place in like an old house. Ppl that work at the hospital should check it.

I ordered both my bridal shower cake, and my wedding cake here. The bridal shower cake was adorable, and everybody loved it. I was very, very disappointed with my wedding cake, however. We ordered cupcakes and two tiers, and even gave her an exact picture of what we wanted. She came to the wedding, dropped off the cupcakes and cake, and hen left. She didn’t bother to set them up, or say anything to anybody. The cupcakes looked like no effort was put in to them, and they were just sloppy. I often tell people that the cake was the only disappointing part of our wedding. I was very offended by the lack of effort on the cake for our special day.

Delicious, moist and fresh! Sister in law ordered my nephews 5^th birthday cake through Cake Is The Best Part! We picked up the cake, a Red Velvet half sheet cake with raspberry filling. She had her son’s name added in red fondant. It looked perfect.
It was a Lego themed party so we added Lego figurines to the cake holding the candles. (see pictures) We also picked up a few pastries.
The taste of the red velvet was very smooth with just the right amount of raspberry filling. You could tell that the cake was made with TLC and not put together like a chain grocery store. A little bit more costly but worth it. Each cake is made to order.
Inside the store there are a few tables and chairs for your morning cup of Joe and a muffin or maybe scone. Outside seating as well on the back patio.
Lots of photo albums to look through to get ideas for that special cake. The amount of work put into these cakes seem crazy but every one of the pictures look amazing and a true piece of art!

Terri is the best!!! I literally gave her a picture of what I wanted and it turned out perfect! Her work is so detailed, it’s unbelievable! Not only is the cake beautiful but it tastes amazing too. We will never order from another place, she’s the best around!!!

I have used Cake is The Best Part on several occasions. It amazes me how Teri can take a simple picture and bring it to life. I recently attended a bridal fair in Sonoma County for an upcoming wedding. I was unable to find a cake that would even come close in comparison to Teri’s. I have my wedding cake on order and intend to transport it from Redding to Bodega Bay… it’s that good! My favorite is Butter Pecan with a Caramel filling. Yum!

I think Teri could design and make any cake your heart desires. She has books full of her photos of cakes she’s made in the past. I ordered cupcakes from her for my daughter in law’s baby shower. They were assorted chocolate and vanilla frosted in white chocolate and chocolate ganache. She threw in a few extras beyond what I ordered. They were ready on time and exactly what I wanted as I’d taken in a photo for her to see. But go in and see her and some of her cake creation photos to get a true sense of how talented she is.
Her location is easy to access with plenty of parking. There is a display case with homemade pastries and coffees and teas available and a sitting area so you can relax and enjoy some of her baked goods.

Teri made my wedding cake October 2011 and my sisters cake the year before. She has a great attention to detail and really made my cake better than I imagined. I love her lemon, marble chocolate, and champagne cake. My husband also thought his guitar shaped grooms cake was so personal and special!
I like to stop into her shop to pick up cookies or pastries whenever I can. Always good to help a local business woman!

I ordered my cupcakes and wedding cake here for my wedding last year. I found the baker at a wedding fair in Redding amongst a ton of other cake shops, and her cakes were the best cakes, hands down. They were so moist and flavorful, and reasonably priced! They were so good that everyone devoured them before we even had a chance to get any cupcakes on our wedding day. At least everyone got to enjoy them, even if we didn’t!
