Attended an event at KIXE which was catered by Janya’s. The food was amazing! Dining in the restaurant tonight. Loved the food. Will definitely recommend to our Old Thyme B&B guests!

This was once my go-​to spot for Thai food but I’m sad to say the meal was not so good this time. Thankfully I had delightful company otherwise the food was lousy. Salmon smelled fishy and like Atlantic farm salmon the fresh spring rolls smells fishy like shrimp but not in a good way. The waitress was laxidasical and did not come back to ask us if we were ready to pay for a very long time.

I have always loved this restaurant and have highly recommended it, but a friend and I ate there last night and I had the worst food poisoning all night from eating there. I ate the prawn appetizer, yellow curry with chicken, and the Pad Thai with chicken. I am very disappointed and won’t be returning. I called to let them know this morning and they just said sorry but nothing else. Disappointing.

Holy Cow — absolutely amazing food here. I can’t wait to get back into this area to go back. Lucky for me a best friend lives in Redding so I am assured of being able to dine here at least twice a year. Do yourself a favor and get in there!!! My mouth is watering now as I write this. Next time I will be more specific on dishes, etc. — but our group had an incredible meal.

I asked about the advertised special 2 entrees for 20.00, they gave me choices I ordered Pad thai beef and spicy eggplant pork, I never had so little meat served to me ever anywhere. To add insult to injury they did not honor their ad.

Stop here for couple times because on the way for a little road trip. The foods here are tasty, and taste like different than other thai restaurant maybe cuz of the owner is original thai people. Stuffs are really helpful and nice. They really have the customer service here. I order pad seew because that is my most favor noodle, its good taste and good portion. My friend order curry, she said its awesome. And we finished the whole plate. The restaurant is pretty spacey, not a long wait on food n drink. Fully recommend to give a try.

I have just moved to Redding from Washington, DC, area… and this is not good Thai food at all. Been 2 times, tried green curry and Panang, both taste the same, terrible, salty, must be MSG there too. Second time also got Tom Kha soup — same taste as the currys. Brown rice was way overcooked, mushy.
Never again. Came second time because wanted something quick and healthy, and it was Friday night — well, they are not busy for a good reason. That other Thai/​Lao place off Hilltop is much busier, and I liked the food there better.

AMAZING Khao Soi. Best best best. My friend and I came just for the Khao Soi, and were not disappointed.
Pleasant (quiet) atmosphere. It was a slow lunch day, so we had a pretty attentive waitress. Good lighting; it’s suprisingly nice inside for how the whole shopping complex looks on the outside.

Inconsistent… Tonite, husband’s Papaya Salad was SOOO salty… He had 2 glasses of water.
The fresh rolls were very fresh and tasty.
I had not had the Lemongrass Salad before, so I ordered it. While very flavorful, I did not know it was a fried salad. It too was very salty.
Better stick to my Pad Thai…

Great service and good tasting food. I was very good but seems a little on the sweet side. We ordered appetizer, salad and two entrée all had a sweet finish. Not a deal killer since all were tasty and will give them another chance

Inconsistent. I had dinner at Janya tonight for the first time in months after my first choice was closed (on Mother’s Day). Sometimes the food here hasn’t a spec of spice after ordering Thai hot. Tonight I ordered it very mild as I was sharing with my 10 year old and it came out scorching. (I liked it, but my daughter couldn’t eat any of the curry.). Thanks Janya.
The service was equally inconsistent. Started well, friendly through food delivery. Then it was as if we fell off the planet. When we were finished it took eons to get somebody’s attention to get us boxes for left overs and the check. A number of other tables were loudly discussing their work in the medical profession and the server was falling all over them. When we went to leave, the waitress, who had been ignoring us completely for 20 minutes loudly asked another server if we had paid (of course I had paid) and most distinctly, did not wish me a Happy Mother’s Day as she had for every other table — even though I was there with my child! I was nothing but friendly to these people and they treated me as if I was a second class patron. I will not return.

Food was TERRIBLE! Pad Thai smelled like pedigree dog food, and the curry was extremely bland. I practically used up all of the red pepper sauce/​dried pepper to mask the flavors.
Not sure if it was a fluke, but I am extremely disappointed.
The waitresses and staff were nice and kept our waters full. Thus, deserving the tip.

Penang roast duck curry was really tasty!!! Duck was really nice, it was my first time curry with aspergers. I didn’t know they have a nice chemistry. Highly recommended.
I also had prawn fried rice and lemon grass salad. The salad had a little too much garlic.
The Unilocal direction took us to a middle of nowhere… the address seemed to be wrong, but accidentaly we found this place (actually very close to the motel we were staying).
When I come back to Redding, I will eat here again.

Stopped in for lunch. 1st visit and WOW! Delicious. Thanks to a «fellow Unilocaler» who suggested this restaurant so highly!
I had Vegetable Dish w/​Tofu (medium spicy) and it was PERFECT! My Hubby had Pad Se Ew w/​Prawns and it was also delicious! Fast & courteous service, very clean and nice atmosphere. From the outside, it looked very plain but inside was a quaint, nicely decorated & comfortable atmosphere! We’ll definitely be back.
Next visit, I plan to try Pumpkin Curry since it’s so popular w/Yelper’s out there.

We went on a weeknight on the recommendation of the B&B owner we were staying with, and it was a great call. This place is serving great Thai, as spicy or mild as you ask for it. And mostly full on a weeknight, so it is no secret in Redding.
If you are near by, eat at Janya’s, that is what we say. Try the #15 cocoanut milk based soup. All fresh, all tasty.

Wrote this review a year ago but forgot to post it–
Today I visited Janya for the fist time. I ordered Pad Kee Mow, basil catfish, and pumpkin curry (as Unilocalers suggested).
Takeout was quick they offered me water while I waited. I got home and we dug in.
Pad Kee Mow: medium/​hot. It’s taste was too close to the taste of pad see ew but delicious flavor spice level was dead on.
Basil Catfish: medium I was disappointed that is was not in fish form flavorful was good and easy to eat.
Pumpkin Curry: medium the best item we got today! The pumpkin was melt in your mouth good.
Overall its seem to be good thia food but I have some more tasting to do.
