Mary’s Pizza Shack serves a variety of homemade Italian food including pizza, pasta, sandwiches, soups, salads, breadsticks, appetizers and desserts at moderate prices. The dressings, sauces, dough and soups are all made from scratch using Mary’s original recipes from her original shack. Each item is made to order and there are no heat lamps, frozen dough or canned sauces. All pasta meals include soup or salad and sourdough bread. Signature items include «baseball sized» meatballs, pesto breadsticks, salads, linguini with clams, gnocchi, homemade soups and desserts and of course the legendary pizza!

History

Established in 2011.

Mary’s Pizza Shack, the family-owned 19-unit Italian restaurant company, opened a second location in Downtown Shasta on August 15.

Mary’s Pizza Shack will offer the same menu of pastas, pizzas and entrees that have made it a destination for business lunches and family dinners in its other 18 Northern California locations. All of the dishes are based on founder Mary Fazio’s original recipes, continuing her traditions, commitment to quality and passion for guest service. In addition, a full bar will serve Mary’s award-winning Shackatinis, margaritas, mojitos, coffee drinks, wine and beer.

The place was fairly busy when we visited Redding but the man who waited us was very nice, friendly, and helpful and let us know how much longer till our pizza was done without us asking.
The pepperoni pizza was great! I live in southern ca, and I’m wishing that I had this pizza currently. :-) recommend.

We had lunch at Mary’s today, I had a focaccia sandwich, and hubby had a very generously sized personal pizza. I loved my sandwich, the bread was great, hubby liked the pizza but said the crust wasn’t his thing. Service was good, but my water was empty for a couple minutes. I’d say we will probably be back, but we still have a lot of other local pizza joints to try!

I have visited this location a two times. Based on all my visits here, I would give Mary’s Pizza Shack 3 stars. I don’t live in the area, but I visit the area a lot.
I have had some great pizza, and I have had some very bad pizza at this location.
On 04−09−16 (my second visit) I ate inside this location. Logan was our server. For some reason he was incredibility slow at bringing the food and drink to our table. He was so slow in fact, that he gave us our sodas for free at the end of the meal. On this visit, the pizza and bread sticks were both way overcooked and burnt in my opinion.
I would rate this location of Mary’s Pizza Shack, «so so.» You just never know how fast or how slow the service is going to be, or if the food will be good or not.
With a few changes, I think this location could be a great place to get pizza.

In my opinion Mary’s is the best pizza in town. I like their side salads and bread too. Always friendly service. Probably the only drawback in my opinion is that it’s a little bit expensive. A medium combo pizza is around 25 bucks — but again, it’s very good so it’s kind of a case of getting what you pay for? So as long as you can handle a little bit of sticker shock, the quality of the food and overall dining experience has always been really good.

Good, but over-priced.
PROS: Nice quaint atmosphere, great service, plenty of toppings on our Toto’s combination pizza, tasty Fresco pesto bread sticks, pulled pork in the minestrone soup, and large meatball sandwich.
CONS: While the food was good and plentiful, I don’t think it was great Italian and certainly wasn’t worth the expense. Maybe more garlic and oregano in the marinara sauce with a touch more sweetness. In my cup of Minestrone soup, I couldn’t find one shred of the pork for which it is known.
For the money, I would have expected something more flavorful that would have me willing to plunk down another $ 30 for a dinner of Italian cuisine.

I have been so unimpressed with this place’s food for a while but tonight was the last straw as I watched one of their delivery guys turn onto Butte Street and nearly hit a pedestrian because he was on his cell phone.
Disgusting.
That kind of employee behavior is worse than the soggy overpriced pizza.

Service was phenomenal and the pizza was good. The highlight was definitely the Raspberry lemon drop and the garlic bread! Both so delish! We also got a pitcher of strawberry margarita for about $ 28! Not too shabby.

This review I’m torn on. On one hand we have an owner who does connect with his community. Who is very connected in redding, but on the other this is another food chain with mediocre food. If we were reviewing the business as a whole I would give it 5 stars, but this is strictly my experience with their food. Pizza is what it is mediocre, the employees are nice but not too interested in the customer, and very over priced.

We vacationed in Redding at a «country house» for a week. We were able to cook most of the trip, but one night we decided to pick up a pizza and tried Mary’s.
I thought the pizza was just okay. The sauce was too chunky (flavor was decent, but the texture just wasn’t right) in my opinion and the crust was too flat. I like my crust to have a crispy outside and soft inside, but this did not.
I think they skimped on the cheese, but thankfully they did add lots of toppings including pepperoni. The problem was the pepperoni was SO greasy that I didn’t finish my piece and switched to a slice of the kid’s plain cheese.
If I lived here I would probably try other pizza joints before coming back.

For a franchise, chain pizza joint I thought they really had a tasty pie, if a bit pricey. Like a lot of pizza joints, it’s a bunch of kids, mostly cute waitresses, running the front andthe dudes doing the cookin’ in back. They have a lot more than pizza, but that is all we tried. Service was quick and friendly, there is a full bar off to the side and a good sized dining area. We got the Toto’s Combination
: salami, pepperoni, cotto salami, linguica, sausage, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers and olives. a medium for $ 22-I’ll say this is wasn’t full of oil and limp in the center. It had nice fresh and firm crust and good ingredients, I guess you get what you pay for. They claim to make their food from scratch daily, so it’s worth another visit to see how they do other food.
