The Grape Escape

Great little spot to relax and have some awesome food and wine.
Be sure to watch for the local shows as well, they have some great events down there.

Coming from LA and decided to hit a wine bar, hands down beats many wine bars in LA from old town Pasadena to DTLA/​Orange.

Some places just exude a warm and welcoming vibe — The Grape Escape is one of those rare, friendly, fun wine bars. Jim does a marvelous job of keeping a wide array of wines available and his support of local music and local musicians is commendable. A wonderful addition to downtown Redding.

Jim, the owner of the Grape Escape, is a wine expert who personally visits wineries and vineyards throughout the state to bring interesting wines at great prices to downtown Redding. The new site next to the Cascade Theater is convenient and the inside is charming — cozy, clean and sets the right atmosphere with old-​style architecture and wine-​related décor.
Each time I have visited, I discovered wines that I had not heard of but that impressed me enough to buy some bottles for my already overstocked wine cabinet. It’s fun to hear the stories of the wineries as you sip their wines. And the staff does a great job of finding wines that may not be on the current tasting list if they see that the customer’s palate matches something they have stashed in their cellar.
I’ve not tried the food that is offered, but the limited menu was inviting and appropriate to a wine & tapas kind of experience.
Having sampled wine all over the U.S. and in many different countries, I am very happy that Redding now has a fun and interesting venue for both experienced aficionados and those who are new to the enjoyment of wine. I am a fan!

I absolutely love this place! What a cool spot in Redding to enjoy a glass (or bottle) of local wine and good company. The location is great, right next door to the Cascade theatre. Casual and relaxed atmosphere with live music on Saturdays. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I love that they sell local wines from Northern California. Being part of their wine club allows you to enjoy different wines every other month. I highly recommend paying them a visit. You will not be disappointed. Grab your besties and meet up at the Grape Escape.

Met some nice people and the bartenders are knowledgeable and helpful with wine choices.
Great place to go before/​after events at the Cascade. But I recommend it on its own merits as well.
