Gracie Barra Belevue

The most amazing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy on the east side! Whether your a child or adult, advanced or a beginner this place is awesome! The black belt professors are world class and are very attentive to detail. I’ve been training here 2 ½ years now and couldn’t dream of training elsewhere. They also have an academy in Seattle (sodo) that I frequent and all over the puget sound area (Edmonds, federal way, Kirkland). One of the perks to this academy is you can train at any Gracie Barra worldwide with a membership, so whether your traveling to Europe or Cali there will be a place for you!

I’m having a great time training at Gracie Barra in Bellevue. As of this writing, I’ve been training there for almost a year. It’s a great place to train, whether you’re new to martial arts or you’re a seasoned professional. There’s a mix of people who train at Gracie Barra. Some people want a new challenge, some want to learn self defense, some want to compete, and some simply want to have fun. Everyone is welcome.
They have jiu jitsu classes for kids, beginners, advanced, and a women’s-only class.
In addition to jiu jitsu, they offer boxing and Muay Thai (kickboxing) classes taught by a world-​class trainer.
All of the instructors are knowledgeable and approachable and so are all of the senior students. They’ve built a great team-​oriented atmosphere and they’re really passionate about what they do. I definitely recommend this school!
EDIT: This Gracie Barra location just expanded earlier this year (2012). It’s now twice the size that it used to be and it includes both a men’s and women’s dressing room and an additional restroom.

I started at Gracie Barra a few months ago because I wanted to expand my Martial Arts experience and I have had a wonderful experience with everyone at the school. The instructors are professional, highly talented, and very friendly. The fellow students are also all great. The senior ranked students are very helpful and make each class not only a blast but, also allow for optimum lesson retention. The learning curve at the beginning has been huge. Every class I go to I pull out tons of new information that helps me improve. I also feel there is significant enough repetition the ingrains concepts from past classes. Perhaps the best part about walking in off the street was how kind everyone is. As an experienced martial artist I have walked into schools that unfortunately had a ton of ego and arrogance, Gracie Barra is the furthest thing from that. I would highly recommend this organization to people interested in BJJ, it is a top notch school with highly skilled world class instructors at a very fair price.
