Established in 1998.

In April, Erik came to I.P.M. Auto Service to work with Geoff (current owner at the time) and Ignacio and has been here ever since. In December of 2008, Erik was presented with the option of purchasing the business from Geoff and he took the opportunity. Erik will continue to provide excellent customer service and automotive repairs to the customer’s of I.P.M. with excellence, integrity, and your trust. Ignacio has been with IPM for 2 years. He has 15 years of experience with automobiles. He is the lead technician here at I.P.M. Ignacio is able to diagnosis anything, with time of course. Whether it’s a broken flex plate or a transmission leak, he’ll find out the source of the issue and resolve it.

Erik is a Certified Toyota/​Lexus Technician and a Certified ASE Technician. He graduated from the T-​TEN program at Shoreline Community College. He has worked at several shops including Toyota of Bellevue. In December of 2007 Erik moved into service writing for an independent shop in Issaquah until April of 2008.

I’m not one to trust mechanics. I never trust mechanics. I’m the type of person who would rather fix each problem myself and learn as I go. At least I know I did it right when it was done. But, about a year ago now I broke down and had to have my car towed and since I have no place to work on my car at my apartment, I hopped on Unilocal and found the highest rated mechanic in Redmond.
I took a chance and brought my car to Erik. I was impressed. He is honest, thorough, and transparent. I never feel like he is trying to pull a fast one. He’s always cognizant of your budget and, when possible, gives you a couple options to get your car back on the road.
I have taken both my car and truck to him a couple of times and would recommend him to anyone.

I have been going to IPM for all auto maintenance several years now, and I have always been satisfied with the service. Erik is the kind of guy who will steer you towards a less expensive way of doing things, instead of trying to «upsell» you into needless repairs. I was referred to IPM by a person who is very skeptical of car repair shops, but who trusts Erik totally.

reasonable rates and always great service.

Our family has been taking our cars to Eric for quite a few years and have always been happy with his service. He and his crew try hard to please, are always pleasant on the phone, and prices are good. Today he went way beyond what I expected by telling me the problem my car was having was something he should fix for free as it was under his warranty for work he had previously done. (My car is really old so it certainly has no factory warranty!) Eric’s honesty and integrity will keep us coming back to him for as long as we drive cars!

Eric is the BEST guy for the job, hands down!
He is honest, fair, very reasonable & timely. I’ve been going to him for 5+ years and never once have I been dissapointed.
He gives deals for referrals and 10% off if you’re an employee of MS. I work for a smaller, less known software company in Redmond and he has always extended the same courtesy without question.
He has always gone out of his way to help me for whatever the reason. Just last week I thought my car didn’t sound right when it started so I stopped by his shop and he took the time to test my battery. Didn’t charge me and said «anytime» with a smile.
That is GREAT service and the reason I tell everyone I know about him.
His shop has recently moved (located on 152nd & NE 90th) which is now just two minutes from my office. It’s a match made in car repair heaven!

This place is great. Eric is extremely helpful and takes the time to go over everything with you. He’s gone out of this way on two separate occasions to help me out when most mechanics wouldn’t have even offered. Once was to find where I had purchased my battery from to see if it was still under warranty (it was in a different state) and the other (just today) where he dropped everything to help complete something that I had tried to fix myself. I will continue to give my business to IPM Auto Service and definitely recommend this place to all of my friends. It’s nice to know that as a girl, who doesn’t know much about cars, won’t be taken advantage of here.

My original positive review was «filtered» by Unilocal as are many of the other good ones (sound familiar?). No surprises there, since Unilocal’s system has long been accused of favoring bad reviews and suppressing good ones so they can «encourage» negatively-​reviewed businesses to sponsor them and maybe get those bad results «cleaned up.» I pulled down my original and am reposting since I am genuinely a long-​time customer of this business.

Now regarding IPM: as stated earlier I am a long-​time customer who has had multiple cars serviced by them over the years, and they’ve been great. I’ve sent friends there and they’ve been happy too. I can highly recommend them.

Original FILTERED review on 12/​11/​2011: I started going to IPM when Jeff owned it and still bring our older car there. The place is honest and works hard at keeping repair costs reasonable. We’d had a number of experiences where they did a lot of diagnostic work and didn’t charge for it if no repair was needed, and they’ve talked us out of non-​critical items many times when they could have gone ahead. It’s hard to find service like that. When our new car’s warranty expires I’ll be bringing it to IPM as well. Great shop, highly recommended.

These guys are good. They know my car really well as I have been there for all my servicing, oil changes, minor uplifts etc.
Erik is soooper cool, completely honest and suggests great solutions to your concerns. The key factor is their timeliness to complete their work. I had my driving belt changed once after which I was moving from Seattle, and Erik offered me a service follow-​up at where ever I’m as an add-​on.
These guys know wat they are doing.

Erik, the owner, is really awesome! They are completely honest, helpful, and explain things to you in a very approachable manner. I have been bringing my car to them for the past 1 & ½ years and I have to say I am completely satisfied. Oil changes are quick and cheap, and the staff is overall very friendly and helpful. Simply put, they are honest, hard-​working, upfront about your car’s issues, and tend to be available for my needs within 24 hours of requesting services.

I had a problem with squeaking brakes after a service with the dealer, so I decided to look elsewhere for good service. After a coworker recommended this place, I decided to drop my car off and see what they said.
They diagnosed my brake pads needed to be replaced (one was cracked which was making the squealing noise) and gave me a very fair estimate — I called around to a few other places which quoted me higher than them. Dropped off my car the next day, got my car back same day and have not had any trouble since (it’s been two months now).
Will definitely look to them for future automotive maintanence needs!

I like small shops like this. In my experience, you get better service at a great price because their focus is on the work. We recently had a «heat wave» in the area and when I went to turn on my AC, I discovered it not working. (By heat wave, I mean we finally took our sweaters off) I’ll play girl here and say I had no idea what to do. This is my first car and I’m single now so diagnosing isn’t something I can easily do. I *am* however slightly geeky, so I started googling. After googling and talking to a few friends, the consensus was I most likely just needed a recharge.
Firestone is a short walk from my home & they’d recently sent me junk mail, so I called them first and was surprised not just at the price, but the attitude I was given on the phone (especially since I was polite and informative as to what I thought was wrong). I thanked them and began looking up information on IPM.
I drive past IPM on my way home from work every day and noticed a few things. 1. They always seem busy. 2. After working in Redmond for the last 5 – 6 years, they’re still around. In a shop in the middle of downtown Redmond. To me this said a lot and I stopped in.
here’s the short and skinny after the long intro:
1. great customer service — made sure to recognize I was there right away, gave me an estimate over the phone that was less than half that of Firestone and knew which car I was when I said what I was there for on first arrival AND my return.
2. Did I mention the price quoted and given was half of Firestone? :)
3. They made sure to tell me not to rush my decision when the evaluation showed that I had other AC issues, but told me to give them at least one day notice when I did make it.
Given that this is my first visit, I only gave four stars, but I have no doubts they probably deserve five!

I read the posts below, but I share my own experience… No emotions, straight facts…
I know cars quite well. I fix my cars on weekends. Lately my job demands way too much and I can’t get around to any of my vehicles.
To make a long story short — I came with a coupon for 120k service issued by GoodYear two miles down 85th street and whether they can match that price.
I’m not sure who Geoff is described here in these reviews — never met the guy. But these shrewed Eric and Hulio Eglicias (is it his name?) — are a very good team pulling sufficient cash out of folks who know «jack» about cars. It’s simple — on our second day the truck was in the shop and no return phone calls — I took time off from work to go in person and ask what the hell is wrong with them. In a prior day I had several meetings at RTC Microsoft campus and every time I drove by their place — the truck was conviniently parked on their lot. So, I started to wonder when they will complete the service.
Apparently Eric was «working» on our «estimate» and had no chance of calling back yesterday or today. The estimate for 1600 dollars worth of work. Since I know my vehicle — I knew he was lying. Break work that he mentioned — was completed two months ago. Timing belt needed to be changed — it was changed 40,000 miles ago. He COULD NOT look me in the eyes!!!
BEWARE!!! These guys are tricksters to say the least! They will smile in your face — for a reason. They think how stupid you are about cars and how much money they can make.
The ONLY advantage these guys have is the location.
I caught them on too many lies and took my truck out of their shop with the help of the Redmond Police. Otherwise they refused to issue keys and take the vehicle out. Needless to say that NO WORK in two days has been done on it.
Do I recommend this shop? No. Why? Because they take advantage of people who know nothing about cars. Thanks be to God — I know cars and was able to catch these guys on lying through their teeth.
p. s. why do people from VA comment on a local Redmond service? Is there a reason for such loud words of praise except the fact of «find the most cost effective repair solution?» Sounds as an advertisement to me…
