Zahntech Import Automotive

I had Zahntech inspect a VW Jetta TDI I was purchasing from a TDI specialist in Seattle in March 2016. Since I live in Colorado and was having the car shipped to me, I was relying on Zahntech to be my eyes and ears, and to make sure the condition was as the dealer described. The mechanic somehow forgot to inspect the sunroof, which had a gasket problem. It had separated from the glass at the front, and as a result, the sunroof wouldn’t seal properly. The repair cost me over $ 500, which could have been avoided had Zahntech done their job in a professional, competent manner.

I’ve been using Zahn for a few years. Always get excellent service, and great advice for maintaining my cars. Pricing is very fair. It’s good to use a place that remembers your name (and cars). I offer my highest recommendation.

I’ve had breaks, engine mounts, transmission mounts, axels, all replaced here and been very happy.

Was recommended to me from a tdi geek, and my 2005 Passat tdi has been well taken care of here. John and his team have been trustworthy and it takes stress out of dealing with shady mechanics.

John and his team always do what is best for the customer. My battery has a 2 year warranty, it failed at 2 and half years. Instead of just charging me the cost of a new battery they replaced it and push back on the supplier about the life of the battery. I’ve been going to ZahnTech for 10 years and never had an issue with the service.

I am very impressed with Zahntech. I am so happy to have found a nice, affordable, honest mechanic shop. John was very good to work with. Will definitely go back (knock on wood it won’t need to be any time soon).

When having my Acura TL Type-​S serviced in the past, I’ve usually gone to the dealer. Today, I had a fantastic experience at Zahntech! I went into Zahntech to have a clunky noise checked out. They diagnosed the issue in minutes (a loose axle nut) and had me back on the road in less than 30 minutes. (The dealer had my car for an afternoon and thought it might need to replace the axle.) I’m so happy I went to Zahntech and will definitely be going back for my regular car maintenance.

Alternator on my 06 Toyota gave out while I was hanging out in Redmond. Fixed and on my way in 2.5 hours with a thorough check done on other potential problems. Thanks, Unilocal

Zahntech is as good as it gets… or maybe better! I recently took my 2005 Toyota Highlander in for the 120,000 mile service. After receiving a quote from the Toyota dealership I gave John a call. John’s quote was over $ 200 less than the dealership. After the service was completed I picked up the car. John had to do a little more than originally estimated and the final bill was still over $ 250 less than the dealer. Unbelievable! More work and still less money than the dealer! The quality of the work is fabulous and the staff is extremely professional. The car was also in desperate need of detailing… it has been used as a work truck and my main source of transportation. John recommended his guy for the detail work and you couldn’t find a better detail person anywhere! John said it would look new when done… well, it looked better than that. John took care of everything, had the car picked up and returned and I consider it money, and time, well spent. If you need your Toyota serviced or repaired, do yourself a favor and take it to Zahntech. You’ll save a lot of money compared to the dealer, and, I believe, get a better job done. These guys are the best.

I love this place! I have a 2002 A6 Audi & the team at Zahntech always provide great service with quality parts. They go the extra mile and even do little cosmetic repairs for which they don’t always charge. Their team is made up of expert German automobile repair mechanics.
I’ve gone to other mechanics, but the quality if repair from Zahntech far exceeds my expectations.
Having an Audi can be pricy to repair but Zahntech never hesitates to educate & explain why they make the repairs needed. I feel like they treat my car as if it is their car.
They’re honest, forthright & make repairs right the first time.

Expert and no nonsense John and crew take great care of me. Repairs are triaged in a way that helps me to dedicate my resources responsibly. I also appreciate John’s approach to service is to be sure the job is done right the first time and, should I ever need to return (which happened once) I am the priority when I arrive. He is reasonably priced and estimates are very close to the actual finished invoice. If there’s anything I’d say in the area of room for improvement it’s that ZahnTech isn’t a bigger shop to serve that many more folks from the area!!!

I’ve called them twice and was hung up on upon introduction each time. Judge for yourself. Courteous? Helpful? Obviously not!

I’ve brought my Mini Cooper S here a few times for routine oil changes and repairs. These guys do a great job, explain everything they’re going to do in details, contact you to make sure you’re OK with the work that’s planned, and everything is called out item-​by-​item when the work is done so you know exactly what you’re being charged for. They’re really friendly and knowledgeable.

When our 2003 Jetta TDI’s engine seized and we found our way to Aaron at Bora Parts, Inc. (another great guy), he recommended Zahntech for the rebuild. We were not disappointed! Matt, one of the owners, did an excellent job and had us up and running again quickly.
Since then, we’ve been back for brakes and a rebuilt injection pump. John, the other owner, did the work this time. And, again, we were completely satisfied with the results.
I would place high confidence in this shop and their technical expertise. They are clearly professionals who take their jobs seriously. They also have integrity. We feel fortunate to be linked up with them.

I had a great experience at Zantech. I have a Mini Cooper that was making some noises when I turned the steering wheel. I took it to a couple of shops to make sure that the diagnosis was the same each time. I talked to John, the owner, and he was very accommodating each time. He also told me that they serve a good majority of the Puget Sound Mini Owner’s Club members, even though I don’t care about that prestige crap it is still good to know that the shop has a history servicing Minis. The shop was clean and in a good location near where I live in Redmond. The other European-​only shop in Redmond was considerably more expensive when they quoted me the repair costs and also they were always booked and hard to make a schedule around. Any auto shop in Redmond – especially European shops – are far from «reasonably priced,» so it is good to do your research and know what you should be paying for basic repairs for your car. At Zahntech they get busy, but are still able to make time for you. They even went so far as to escort someone to Redmond town center because they had to go to work and didn’t want to wait 45 minutes for an oil change. Talk about customer service! I don’t think any other shop would be this nice and be so open minded and customer-​focused. When the mechanics inspected my car they found some other issue like a leaky oil pan gasket. I didn’t even ask for this but it was comforting knowing they are looking out for your best interest in the health of your vehicle. I am sure it gives them more business and money also, but I can’t complain because I don’t want to find out about a problem once it is too late and causes damage to the engine. You can always deny these requests for additional work and they are mainly there to inform you so you can be aware of them in the future. They definitely don’t try and pressure them on you like a chain shop like Jiffy Lube – and they are repairs that actually matter, not preventative crap that doesn’t even need to be done yet. I got an honest feeling from the whole team and will definitely be using them as my go-​to shop in the future.

A few months ago, I took my VW Jetta in to have the brakes replaced. After $ 1,200 and 5 visits, it’s still making a pulsating noise from one of the brakes. They missed replacing an emergency brake cable which caused the pads to drag on the rotor, warping it. They never replaced the rotor like I asked, only the pads, eventually the cable, and made some adjustments. I think they got to the point where they didn’t want to spend any more time and money on it and threw their hands in the air. They even gave me a line about driving the car through the road grit and salt on Snoqualmie Pass can cause the brakes to make the noise. Really? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
ZahnTech is too expensive, and they bumbled a simple brake job. I took my car to them based on the excellent reviews at Unilocal and expected a top notch job. Instead, I got a huge bill for a simple brake job with less than satisfactory results. :-P
The staff were always friendly and courteous, they just couldn’t get it right.

Love everything about this place. They’re quick, reasonably priced, in a nice area (Lovvvve Redmond!), and they did just what I needed. My alignment for my BMW was HALF of what the BMW dealership wanted to charge me (which I wouldn’t have paid for, I would have had my BMW fanatic friend fix it before paying at a mark-​up like that!).
