Sears Auto Center

Auto department was very busy, but I was greeted by the Manager who walked out to open the door for me! He was smiling, explained that there may be a bit of a wait, but he would do the battery personally if he had to so that I could get back out on my road trip. 30 minutes after I signed for the repair, I was paying and on my way! They even completed some free checks and were able to give me a breakdown of what should be fixed next and a timeframe for repair. I’ve got his business card, which was stapled to the front of my paperwork and given to me with a smile. If I was from the area, I’d gladly return to see him! Thanks Kevin and thank you to his guys for making me a priority in their already busy day!

Completely no sense of what they are doing.
Online reservation failed and in person reservation screwed up. After 20 point checks, your battery running low and will NOT start without a jump start.
There are good people there.
But I would be cautious to use them for your oil change and major services.

I got my truck aligned at an auto center in Colorado and my check engine light went on for traction control sensors on my way back to Washington. Called this location to have them fix it. They said they would be opened until 7 and that they would look at it when we got there. We showed up and they told us to schedule another appointment. I live 85ish miles away from the nearest Sears so having to drive back is not ideal but fine. Bring my truck down the next day, of course the check engine light went off, but they agree to look at it and fix as needed as far as alignment. Wait 2.5 hours and decide to walk back over. They never bothered to call to inform me that they were done. They tell me that the toe is out, which is what the prior Sears ‘fixed.’ I asked them why they didn’t fix and they said because I only asked for a courtesy check which is not what I asked for. When I stated that the prior Sears had told me that they had already fixed it, the worker responded with, «That’s not my problem. You need to schedule another appointment.» I will be asking to have my 3 year alignment coverage refunded as apparently my vehicle can not be fixed correctly or in a timely manner.

I have to agree with the 2 star average rating. I came in for an oil change with a 5 pm appointment. I had to wait 40 minutes in line just to get helped. The work order took another 15 minutes, as they didn’t have the specs for my car in the system. I was using a Groupon voucher, but there was an additional charge of $ 15 for extra oil and disposal fee. The work itself took over an hour to complete. Not happy with the experience.

Great Service and they did my tires super quick! I will be back thanks!!!

Miserable experience. Had a Groupon but for every penny I may have saved, I was punished with an agonizingly long wait. My scheduled appt. was for 1:00. The line was already long with only one clerk. I was told my oil change would take 90 min. WTF? No orders ahead of me. Nothing scheduled for two hours after. Checkin alone took 20 min from the time I got to the counter. One finger typing and a less than motivated, overworked counter helper. This isn’t rocket science Sears! You wonder why your stock is dropping. Here’s an example. NEVER AGAIN. No savings could undo this tragedy.

Making a Unilocal review first because Unilocal and Google are what consumers tend to read, not Consumer Reports and BBB — though they will be getting the same.
Summary:
For the same price as OEM service from a dealership, I was asked to pay substantially more for a service I didn’t need instead of owning up and honoring a warranty. Was going to get wallet flushed, again, for brake fluid (don’t ever pay for ANY fluid flushing except as genuinely needed) and no, joke, Actuator service on a friggin Honda Civic. To top it off, price gouged on inferior parts.
First the facts:
This Sears (and apparently all Sears Auto Centers) uses Autozone (generic) parts for items not in-​store (like their branded batteries, shocks, etc). This was told to me inadvertently by the tech working the register during my brake job on ¹²⁄₂₈.
I had a front brake and rotor replacement on ¹²⁄₂₈ here. Brake fluid exchange as well. I asked for, was charged for, premium brake pads. I also wanted the boxes and old parts. Old rotors were in trunk, nothing else.
The rotors were Autozone generic (list price of $ 32.00 for Autozone’s Duralast brand to the public at Autozone) and the same is true for the brake pads, Duralast Gold (not premium) Ceramics (list price $ 32.00 the public at Autozone). TRW Premium Ceramics are $ 46.00 to the public. All of the parts were confirmed by Autozone after they did the visual inspection because Sears did NOT provide the boxes as asked. Sears gets a merchants’ discount for purchase and charged me $ 66 a piece for the rotors and $ 66 for the brake pads. That is at LEAST a 100% markup. And also, not what I’d ordered.
My full brake system was inspected. My front brakes and rotors needed replacing due to metal-​on-​metal, brake fluid was checked off as ‘low and contaminated/​dirty’, and rear brakes/​rotors were 75%+ material and fine. Calipers were all fine. Ken was the technician who did the inspection and the service.
I waited nearly 7 hours for them to finish this job. They also had to re-​align my wheels (due to warranty) after completing the job. The reason for my wait was because no one had the opportunity to go pick up my parts from Autozone (see above).
This Sears, unlike many other Sears Auto Centers I’ve used in the past, will prolifically protest using parts/​equipment brought in by the customer, even New In Box OEM. Stating that when a problem happens, they don’t want to get in to liability claims of it being the labor/​installation versus the parts (note the above about them using Autozone generic).
Now for today:
Starting about two weeks ago, I could hear the unmistakable scrape of a brake pad against a rotor. Drivers side, front. Less than 2,300 miles since the brake job.
Made an appointment for today, stated that I could hear the scraping on the drivers side (but purposefully withheld that I knew it was front wheel). Came in, waited for an hour and a half and got the call back saying they had a new quote for me. New quote? Not warranty, huh?
Technician states that the rear brakes and rotors all need to be replaced. I said «show me» and instead of taking me to the bay, he produces a write up of the inspection. I respond that even their own inspection that I left in the car said the rear pads were doing great 4 months ago, but now it’s all marked as needing replacing. The guy at register (who wasn’t wearing a name badge) says ‘Yeah, and it’s been 4 months, you’ve driven thousands and thousands of miles since then’. ‘Nope, I’ve driven less than 2,500 miles since then’ — so then I ask to see the itemized list. They were throwing in another 40 brake fluid replacement as it is once again marked as ‘low’ and ‘contaminated’, the same overcharging for generic parts, and this time even throwing on a charge for brake actuator service. Actuator service… for a Honda Civic. I just said I’d take the keys.
Fifteen minutes later, I’m waiting around the front of the building and my car isn’t up yet, but I can hear another unmistakable sound: an impact hammer fitting on lug nuts. Not unusual, but the duration of the clunking/​skip is — 5+ second bursts. Now I’m worried so I walk all the way around the entire building to the back and in to the bay from the side door and I see a tech pounding my lugs with the impact hammer and no torque stick. I see Ken near the front of the bay and ask if he is bothering to use a torque stick with the impact hammer and he wanders away for about 10 seconds while the front-​guy (who’d claimed he was the shop manager to another customer) walks up and asks ‘what’s the problem’ Ken relays my question and they both look at me as though I’m speaking Swahili and just continue on their merry way. I go to the front of the building when the tech pulls my car out, and as soon as he opens the door I ask him point blank if he used a torque stick and he says «No, I don’t use torque sticks, but the driver is controlled, you know?»
No more Sears for me. Ever.

I wish there was an option for a zero star. This place sucks. I bought 4 tires from them and paid extra for installation, alignment and balancing. I was supposed to be done within 2.5 hrs of dropping the car at the workshop. I later found out that they only started working on my vehicle after 1.5−2 hours and it took them close to 4 hours (well after closing) to be done, only after several reminders and calls. I had to delay my evening plans and throughout the process there was little to no communication on when I’ll actually be able to leave. Awful service Sears, this is the last time I will be choosing you guys.

This is the only place I take my car for not-​too-​extensive service (brakes, tires, oil, etc.). Look, it’s Sears. It’s not fancy. But they do the job, at a good price, without trying to screw you over. Which, for me, is all that I’m looking for in a car repair place. I’ve never felt the hard sell that you find even at oil change places. They’ve never bait-​and-​switched me. I know something about cars (a couple years of auto shop in high school) and I’ve never felt like they’ve done all of those «tricks» that we all think auto mechanics try to do in terms of up-​selling and so forth.
I’ve taken both my and my wife’s car here numerous times and have zero complaints — other than the old TV in the waiting area!

I wish Unilocal had a half a star to offer.
2 weeks ago, I scheduled a fleet car to have snow tires installed. Because this car is always on the road throughout the week, I called the Tuesday before to my fleet manager, and they called and confirmed a time on the next coming Saturday at 8am.
Below is a portion of an email I sent to their customer service department, asking for the district manager and branch manager to contact me:
When I went for my appointment this morning, a service person named Al helped me. He was very nice, but also overwhelmed as he was the only one helping customers there. He couldn’t find my reservation, nor could he find the tires. He went into the managers office for help. The asst. manager was in, but didn’t emerge from the office to assist Al. After a few attempts to help me, Al brought me into the managers office. I was, by then, on the phone with (my fleet manager) to gather info on the order, and was told Kevin was the one at this location who took the order.
I don’t recall the asst. manager’s name. I told him I had (fleet management) on the phone, and Kevin was the one who took my order. The asst. manager replied, «Well, when Kevin wakes up, I’ll call him…»
This really upset me. I said, «When he wakes up? Do you realize this is a fleet vehicle, and I scheduled this appointment because this was the day I would be in town to have it serviced?» The assistant just shrugged.
I walked out of the office and told LeasePlan to please search for my tires elsewhere; the service there was terrible and they won’t help me. The assistant slammed his office door behind me.
I called to speak to a customer service person to let them know of the poor service I received. After being sent to 4 different numbers (all of which were «unable to help» me), I was forced to attempt to send an email. So far, I’ve had no response from my email to their customer service for assistance.
I had asked my fleet manager to do a broad search for these tires, as they are not commonly carried because of the type of vehicle I drive. I was sent to a Les Schwab on Aurora who not only had the tires and were very professional, but were grateful for my business. They helped make my day a little bit better. Unfortunately, I ended up loosing a half of my day off because of this Sears and their terribly poor service.
I highly suggest if you have a fleet car/​truck/​van, and your fleet company sends you here… beg to go elsewhere. This place does not deserve to good business these fleet companies offer them.

I’ve never seen more than one customer service person working here. I was there to buy a car battery, which should have taken five minutes. Instead, I waited 20 minutes while the single customer service rep helped the customer in front of me. On top of that, the battery they gave me was a worse battery for the same price as what I saw on their website.

I never write reviews and Sears Auto made me write this.
I went to Redmond Sears Auto March 28^th 2015 for an oil change and they told me that my outer tie rods are worn out and need to be replaced. I asked them to do the work and i was told that I have warranty for 6 months or 6k miles. Recently I went to another store for wheel alignment as i have life time free wheel alignment with them. They told me that right outer tie rod is worn out and whoever did it did a poor job. They asked me to take my car to Sears and get it replaced as it would be under warranty. I took my car to Redmond Sears Auto and they told me inner tie rod is worn out and not the outer one. They handed me an invoice for 150 $ to fix it. When i confronted them with report from the other store which stated the outer tie rod is faulty, then they told me i am out of warranty by 5 days (???).
«Lets talk about the warranty later, is the problem with outer tie rod or the inner tie rod».
He didn’t answer my question. He asked me back «why did you go with different store and not with us?».
«Its not the point and its up to me where i go. Now which one is worn out — inner tie rod or outer tie rod».
Then he asked me not to raise my voice. Probably they wanted me to leave quietly. Then he said «the other store is probably trying to sell you the parts you don’t need».
Now by giving a 150 $ quote for fixing my inner tie rod, Sears is actually helping me from being ripped off by some other guy. Wow. Next time I should get high or leave my reasoning capabilities at home before I go to Sears Auto.
«You said the inner tie rod is worn out. So the other store guy was stupid enough to ask me to take my car back to Sears to replace my outer tie rod with my warranty rather than telling it was inner tie rod that needs to be replaced and charge me for that».

I realized there is no point in arguing and I cannot do anything other than writing this review. Here it is now.

Unfortunately I have to give this place one star because I would truly give it zero if I could.
My wife went to get our car serviced here for an oil change and it turned out to be a complete nightmare.
First issue was she scheduled an appointment for 12pm online. Supposedly she was supposed to receive a second e-​mail confirming her requested appointment time. 11:30am came around and she receive no second e-​mail and the one that she did receive said that she was booked for her 12pm appointment. So, she packed up our two kids drove down to the Sears Auto Center and the nightmare began.
Upon arriving at 11:50am she unloaded the kids walked inside and told the front desk guy that she was there for her appointment. He proceeded to tell her that there was no appointment and that she was basically out of luck or could leave her car there until they closed and if they had an opening they would get to it.
She decided to cut her losses and just leave. An hour and a half goes by and she receives an e-​mail saying that her 12pm appointment is confirmed… Mind you it’s now 1:30PM.
I called the management upset about the situation and they basically could have cared less and told me to reschedule another appointment.
Needless to say that wasn’t going to happen and I ended up scheduling an appointment that same day with Redmond Goodyear for less $ and they had me in and out without a hassle.
I would highly advise anyone considering getting any type of service done to stay away from Sears Auto Center regardless of there advertised pricing. You will save time and money going else where!
I have other family members that have also had very poor experiences here and Sears Auto Centers reputation online reflects that as well.

We’ve taken both our cars to Sears a few times mainly for convenience since it’s minutes from our house. However, we’re not going back.
I brought our Honda Odyssey in for an oil change. The tires looked low and I asked them to check the tires as well which they said was part of the oil change.
After an hour, I was called up and they said they found a few problems. The power steering fluid was leaking and my belt was frayed. The power steering fix would be $ 400-​$ 500 and a new belt would be $ 110. I asked how bad was it and they said it’s not too bad but I should take care of it within the next few months.
I walked outside and my tires were still low. I returned to the shop and they said it was normal to look that way and they put in the recommended PSI.
A few days later, I took my van to a Honda repair shop which I normally use for major issues. It’s quite far which is why I didn’t take my care there for the oil change.
The mechanic took a look and said there was no leak, the belt was fine for atleast another 20,000 miles and my tires were low (25 PSI). He said I had no issues with my van.
Sears has lost my business.

After being a loyal Sears Auto customer for 5+ years, I am done — they’ve pushed one too far. The short story: their customer service is horrible, they have no respect for your time, and they can’t even keep appointments made in advance.
Originally I chose Sears after some critical misteps with Jiffy Lube (like not reconnecting the fuel line properly resulting in leaking fuel everywhere & needing to get towed to a real repair shop). The main reason I chose Sears is that they’re in a great location– while getting an oil change, I can go on errands at nearby stores like Marshall’s or Fred Meyer, or sit in Starbucks. Well, that is no longer enough…
I’ve been trying to get an oil change in for the past several months. I’ve been impressed (in a bad way) with how long it takes to acknowledge customers. After many false starts on a drop-​in basis, I finally bit the bullet and took a day off work to run errands that I can’t do as easily on the weekend with a toddler — including getting an oil change. (Stranded without a car during an epic meltdown? No thank you!)
I made an appointment with Sears a week in advance and they clearly had my account details based on the vehicle options they asked about. I pulled in and was immediately greeted by a very friendly man. This was the only bright spot! He was fantastic, and I wish I had gotten his name. I proceeded into the checkin area where the only associate was helping another customer. After waiting a full 20 minutes before being able to check in (20 minutes past my appointment time), he tried looking up my name. That didn’t work, so I gave my maiden name — after all I’ve been a longtime customer. Nope. And that was that. He didn’t try looking at my account to see if they wrote the appointment down incorrectly, or otherwise solving the issue. Just no, we don’t have your appointment. I had to ASK if they would have any slots available later that day.
Ultimately I made the wise decision that they have lost my business. I found another company (Mark’s Japanese Auto) who delivered EXCELLENT service, and will be going there from now on.
Oh, and the kicker? Both my husband and I are former Sears employees. That’s probably why we gave them as much leeway as we have in the past.

I knew I would be in Redmond today so I made an appointment for an alignment online. I also needed two tires but the online appointment systems doesn’t allow you to choose that as an option. So then I called the location to verify the appointment and make the necessary adjustments to the appointment to include two tires. Altogether, two Continental Extreme Contact DWS 215/​45zr17 tires, mounted and balanced with valve stems, old tire disposal fee, and a 6 month alignment costs $ 372.95 with the service being performed at the Redmond location according to the website. I also made a note to the gentleman on the phone to set aside those tires if he needed to as I would be in to fulfill this service.
I showed up on time and was told by the gentleman that does the write ups that they may not have my tire size in stock. I informed him that I had called ahead. *shrugs* Once he’s finished he escorts me inside. We pass a lady that is absolutely going off about something and is demanding something be done today, which the guy talking to her is insisting that nothing can be done today. *shrugs again*
I stand in line and wait for my turn. The soothing sounds of an old electronic phone fill the air creating a warm and comforting atmosphere. This sounds continues, constantly, for many minutes as the employees continue about their tasks. They have obviously been conditioned to endure this. *shrugs a third*
The guy gets free and asks me if I’m picking up a car. Nope, I have an appointment at 3. Confusion settles in. He calls me over and then just stares at the physical piece of paper and the TV with all the buttons. Finally he gets a paper printed out and asks me to sign it. I question whether I should be signing something before the work is done and I am told is so that they can do the work. I look over the prices and the total is $ 49X.xx. Umm, this is over $ 100 more than the online price. I am being charged $ 140 for each tires, not the $ 125. They tell me it’s the online price and that I’m also being charged for valve stems, blah blah. I explain that the price was $ 372.95 online with all the stuff that is listed that’s he’s telling me makes up for the extra cost. *no more shurgs*
I cancel everything and tell them to give me my car back. I haven’t signed anything saying you can do the work, which is what you just told me that I was signing. The guy that I assume is the manager is saying that if the work has already been done then there’s nothing they can do, yet, here I am holding the paper that gives you authorization to do the work… Yeah.
These guys don’t have a clue what they are doing. DO NOT GO HERE FOR AUTO SERVICE.
While I was waiting for my keys there was another guy that had been there 3 times for some problem and even left his vehicle overnight. He was still asking them about what was going on.

The sales person April is a big liar. She told me that the engine check light is on, and I would need to pay $ 100 just to have them find out what’s wrong, and fixing it is extra. She said they need to open up the engine to find out. Err… don’t tell me they haven’t heard of the «check engine code scanner,» a device that you can just plug into the car through an outlet near the steering wheel to find out the error code without even opening the hood. And the last time I checked, you can get one of those for less than $ 100. (

This place used to be honest and cheap, but not anymore!!! Never trust anything from the sales people here! I am not going back here again!!!

I would like to get 1.5 hours of my life back.
Tried to pick up an online order at the Redmond Sears Auto Center. 35 minutes wait in line behind 5 people (Saturday is a bad time to pickup an order apparently). 20 more minutes of 3 techs looking for my item but unable to find it. Theories ranged from they sold it to someone else or that it already got picked up. They then refused to cancel and credit my order and said I had to call in online to get the order canceled.
Call in online, online tells me it is ready for pickup and I have to cancel it with the store. Auto store won’t even pickup the phone now.
Getting a refund via credit card dispute at this point.
Note: This is just for the auto center online pickup. Regular sears merchandise pickup has always worked well and also worked fine for an order this same day.

The only thought I have is that they are closing down. Brought my truck in for ac service. They looked it over and told me to come back the next morning. Dropped off my truck. All was good, I was happy the sun was shining.
They called a couple hours later and said wrong part was ordered and they would have the right part the next day. It’s ok, I have a bike, I have my health.
Next day at 4 I called (8 times), no answer. The next day I called (17 times) before someone answered and told me they would go check on my truck. In the mean time my wife came home and drove me to Sears. I was still on hold when I got to the front of the line. No apologies. Nothing. Just a blank stare. I told them I had lost faith and just wanted my truck back. They told me it would take 20 minutes. It’s been an hour. I am loosing conciseness. No food, no water. I’m ready Lord, take me home.

The staff unFriendly, look like they dont know what they are doing here so F… frustrating
I came here to change my car battery and it took them 2 hours to tell me that they dont have battery for my car in stock, i’ll will never come back here. Bunch of idiots in work in one place.
