I provide Frame Sizing/​Fittings and Coaching. My shop also sells reconditioned used bicycles starting at $ 50.00

History

Established in 1985.

After working as a Campagnolo Team Mechanic in 1983 and the 1984 LA Olympics, I started Bill Ron’s Custom Wheels in 1985. In 1988 I opened my shop full time. I’m known as the last of the old European style bike shops, Service and Quality are first.

I have been fixing bikes since 1965 and have worked in many bike shops in the Redondo Beach area. I opened my own shop in 1985.

I have also worked as a Team Mechanic for Campagnolo in ’83-‘84

and a Technical Adviser Mechanic for USA Cycling since 2004.

I have been bicycle racing since 1970 and have competed in Track, Road, Cyclo-​Cross, Mountain bikes.

I worked at TRW space systems as a Lab Mechanic /​Engineer ’75-’88,

Bill is great. I took my wheel in for rebuilding. He is busy and tells me I can get it back next week. Even though I wanted it earlier I was ok with the time estimate, he got it finished early and called me to let me know. Great service, fair price, excellent service.

Super nice guy! I stopped in to get a couple things for the track before racing at nationals. He’s fixed up some wheels for my buddy and everyone says he’s the best mechanic around, wouldn’t doubt it.
He also has many old track and road bikes if your into the old antique items!
Oh and it says he’s closed from time to time but he opens it sometimes off his hours, so go check him out even if it says he’s closed.

I was in LA for work and I wanted to get something cycling related as a souvenir. Based on Unilocal reviews I found my way to Bill Ron’s. Great little shop. Tried to buy a logo water bottle, but I didn’t have any cash with me.
I went to put the bottle back and he told me to take it. Thanks Bill (I assume it was Bill). I only hope this review helps get someone else in your shop!

THE bike mechanic. Period. End of story. But I’ll add a bit more. I’ve been taking my bike to Bill Ron from time to time since before there was a Unilocal.The results of whatever I have had done have always been exactly to my liking. I’m writing this now because (a) on my latest visit last week Bill did his typical perfect work and (b) now there is a Unilocal where I can do my bit to spread the word.

Undoubtedly one of the best bike shops in all of Los Angeles. I first went to Bill Ron’s Bike Shop in the early 1990’s looking for some vintage Schwinn parts. Bill really knows what he is doing and has been repairing bicycles for many years. I can’t say enough good things about his expertise, professionalism and how high the quality of his work is. Bill is the real deal and really cares about his customers. This is one of the last authentic South Bay bicycle shops left from back in the day. Totally awesome!

I was new to road-​cycling. I got my bike but didn’t really know how it was supposed to fit. But I got immediately familiar how it was NOT supposed to fit with much $$ and time spent with other local bike shops who tried to fit me with computers, etc. Seriously, I spent time with 4 other bike shops who thought the were experts.
Now, just to disclose. although I was not an elite cyclist, I am a fitness professional who has had experience in other sports. I know my body. So, I knew these other bike shops where not fitting me correctly. Even some in PV put me at risk with substandard fits and trying to convince me that wrong brakes, unproper clips/​shoes, bad fit, and even poorly installed components was something I was suppose to just get used to.
Then I saw Bill Ron. He is an well-​known expert, yet he never belittled me. He took the time to be personal and patient. he even rode with me to make sure the fit was right.
He is OUTSTANDING and worth the wait for his one-​on-​one attention. His rates remain reasonable even though he is in high-​demand.
Can’t wait to get my next maintenance service from him!

Small, unassuming shop in the middle of a strip mall on Torrance Blvd, a few blocks west of Prospect.
Bill overhauled an older mountain bike and replaced the chain for $ 116 total. Been riding for about two weeks now, no issues.
Seems like a nice enough guy. Apparently, has worked with a lot of pros and national teams. Hours are a bit odd, Tu-​fri 3 – 6, I think. Plus, as far as I know, he does all of the work himself, so it could take a bit longer than other places. But, at least you know you’re getting the service from the master craftsman himself.

I needed a quick repair for my son’s commuter bike. I called Bill and he said he could probably fix it while I wait. I assume that is not typical of a bike shop because usually they have a backlog of bikes to repair.
I headed over to his shop, I was greeted quickly and he dropped what he was doing and did the repair right away. He has a lot of very cool bikes to check out.
I was in and out in like 15 minutes and he charged a very fair price for a quick repair and a mini tune up, while I waited.
EXCELLENT SERVICE, I will definitely go back even if I have to wait.

A great, quirky little shop. Bill Ron is the only employee, and his hours are a little strange. As of this writing he is open from 3−6pm tuesday through friday. Though he sometimes opens late or closes early. He is a professional track mechanic and basically uses his shop as his workshop and he allows customers to come in while he’s working. His walls are covered in beautiful, old track bikes. If that’s your thing, those alone are worth the trip. Most of his stock is parts and used bikes, as the new bikes he sells are usually custom built. Its a great place to go for knowledgeable help in selecting parts and extremely professional repairs. Get there just after 3 and Bill Ron is a great guy to talk to. If you get there after 5, he can be a little curt.
