Ok after a bit of a rocky start and clearing up some miscommunication, Steve the owner of South Bay Door and Window made it all right. He personally installed my front door at a very fair price. The door even had some challenges but Steve did a great job. I was very pleased with the work and client attention. I’m the first to admit when I’m wrong and I was a bit too harsh on these guys.
In fact, after the fair quote on replacement windows (my next big job), I’ll be using South Bay Door and Window again.

In a nutshell, they don’t want your business if it’s a small job.
In 2011 used South Bay Door and Window to replace 20 windows in our house and were satisfied with the experience. I called them recently to get a quote to install a single window.
The quote came to me later the same day but the install price was really, really high. The window is roughly 28″ x 28″ inches and I wanted a replacement vinyl casement, nothing unusual. The quote for the window was about what I expected, $ 366.52 but they wanted an additional $ 750.00 to install it! $ 600.00 labor, $ 100 delivery and $ 50 for materials. I called back to make sure that the install price wasn’t a mistake and they said that it wasn’t. they explained they give you a break for multiple windows.
What This really was, was the «we don’t want to do it price». Installing a replacement window isn’t that tough. I’d have been happier if they just said up front that they don’t want to mess with a single window install, but their price said that for them. There are plenty of other window installers out there that will be happy to give me a fair price. Good for them that they’re busy enough to not bother with small jobs.

This may be the most complimentary review for one who hasn’t done business with South Bay Door & Window.
Living close to the beach, we saw a progressive deterioration of all our west facing Andersen windows, and thought we needed to have them all replaced. Having read all the wonderful reviews about South Bay Door & Window, this was the perfect place to begin.
After speaking with Marci one of the owners, who was very nice, in the morning, we stopped by in the afternoon to meet with Steve the co-​owner. We brought in photos as requested as well as measurements of our windows. After a brief discussion and seeing the product they offered, it was mutually decided that Steve should come by the house to do a consultation and evaluation.
He courteously called the next day to let us know he was running a few minutes late (appreciated). We showed him the worst of the windows. After examining these windows, he told us what he would do if this were his home.
Imagine our shock and surprise when he said, in his professional opinion, that we really didn’t need to replace the windows, but should instead … He felt repairing them and having a painter handle the trim would suffice. We could not believe his honesty and integrity, and essentially not have our business. Steve felt new windows with the cost and installation would not look as good as doing some repair work on our original ones.
Steve also looked at two doors we wanted evaluated, and gave us more conservative recommendations.
We thanked him profusely for his candor and veracity. So I’ve decided to write him this complimentary review. This is the type of owner /​business any of us would like to work with. South Bay Door & Window will be the first place we call when we can use their services.

I needed new windows for my old Spanish style home which still had some original windows from the ‘20s. I had Steve’s info from relatives that had used them before so he came over to see what needed to be done and provide me with a quote. The job ended up being a bit more complicated due to the age of the home and the condition of the windows but Steve and his team were very professional in dealing with my unique situation and finishing very quickly. The new windows look beautiful and fit the style of the home perfectly!

As others have said– South Bay Door & Window is a class act. We’ve interacted with both Steve & Marci over the past month as we looked into both new construction and replacement windows. They are both super responsive, polite, and extremely easy to work with. I can’t tell you how many times I had revise my quote (different measurements) and Marci always took care of the changes.
So far we’ve ordered 9 new construction windows and will surely do the remaining replacement windows in the next few months.

I strongly recommend South Bay Door and Window. I just had an interior door replaced and Steve and company had the order completed within a week from the day of my first call. Very easy to work with, and cleaned up very carefully after the job. I will use them for all of my door and window needs!

Couldn’t be more pleased with the terrific work Dan & Rick did installing 4 sliding-​glass doors in less than two days. Both workmen were professional, polite, timely, and carried on intelligent conversation. They were clean (completely cleaned up after their work), and the doors are impeccably installed. I would hire South Bay Door & Window again in a heartbeat!

I highly recommend South Bay Door & Window. We have a lot of work to do on our home and Steve gladly phased our project into two parts to work with our budget. We had Milgard windows and new interior and front exterior door installed. They are professional and very knowledgeable of the products and best choices for your home. Steve was extremely helpful and took the time to explain everything very well. I was fully informed throughout the whole process. The installation was great. Dan was a hard worker, paid attention to detail, and very tidy. They were also even great with our dog (huge bonus points!). Steve and his crew were great. I called and he showed up the same day. He gave us a lot of options and great prices. We had South Bay do all of our windows and doors. Very fast and efficient.

My wife and I recently completed construction on our custom home. Based on a local recommendation (neighbor) I checked on South-​bay Door and Window (SBDW).
I got several bids for the job (doors and windows for a new 2500 sq ft home) and SBDW was the lowest so I decided to put an order in with Steve. He immediately offered to come out and take a look at the house and I said ok. He was extremely helpful for the following reasons:
o He double checked all my measurements correcting several of my mistakes. Including adjusting placement in some cases.
o steve is very knowledgable on style and made xlnt suggestion for our «craftsman» home.
o he informed us about tax credits we later got from ordering energy efficient windows .
In addition to the lowest bid, the upfront, on site service provided by SBDW was amazing… other bidders do not do this! Lastly our doors and windows were promptly delivered in xlnt condition. Steve came out again to inventory the order and to talks with our contractor on installation.
In closing this is an xlnt outfit… Someone was nice enough to recommend them to me and I am passing them along to you

We just moved to the condo, second floor and had to replace old windows and door for our condo. Condo HOA has very annoying rules and South Bay door came and installed the sliding door and windows so quick and nice. I love my windows, the best of all other units, looks most solid and clean. He recommended what would be the best option for my unit and job was done super cleaned and quickly.
Obviously, they were not cheapest place to go with but when I fix my own house, why would I? I’m very happy with my work.

After getting several estimates, I used South Bay Door and Window to replace all of the windows in my house with Milguard double pane windows. This has been an incredible lift for my house and definitely the best improvement I’ve ever made. I am extremely happy that I chose South Bay Door and Window. Steve came out and explained my options to me and gave me quite the education on Windows and doors. It was clear that he had many years of experience and he was an extremely nice guy. I took the leap and put the order in. Steve took his time making precise measurements and made sure that I was crystal clear on what I was ordering. When the windows arrived, Steve and his team came to my house on time first thing in the morning to begin changing the windows. They were very careful of my carpets and hardwood floors, and extremely courteous. When I came home from work that night, I almost fainted when I saw how great the windows looked. Steve looked as pleased as I did and it was obvious that he is very proud of his work. Dealing with Marci in the office on the business end of things was a pleasure as well. We replaced 15 old windows and added a slider and casement window. The order was placed and rec’d quickly and they did the work in record time with no disruption to our family. So I needed my windows replaced and two old doors. I heard of this company and they were highly recommended by some trusted people. They did great work and were very pleasant to deal with from selecting windows and all the way through completing the job. Definitely would use South Bay door & window again in the future.

I ordered windows for a new residential construction project from S. Bay Door & Window. I experienced some problems along the way with the order, some of which was my fault, some miss-​communication and some theirs.
At the end of the day, South Bay Door and Window did work hard to make all of it right, and that goes a long way.

My 90’s era house in Redondo Beach was in need of new windows. It was built with single pane aluminum frame windows that were hard to open and close and provided practically zero noise and weather insulation.
Steve from South Bay Door and Window came out and explained the various options for my style of home. We also visited the showroom to see the different windows in-​person to get an idea of the differences. Steve also provided the address of a previous client that had a similar style of home (so we could see what the windows would look like). When I went to look at his previous client’s home, I also knocked on the door and asked him about his experience. He gave South Bay Door and Window good marks, so we decided to go with them.
We ended up with having all 20 windows in our home replaced. The job turned out fantastic. Steve’s team (congrats to Dan) finished the job on-​time and in a very tidy manner. The end result is great. Honestly, no complaints about our experience with South Bay Door and Window.

I bought an older house in Westchester a few years ago and finally got around to replacing my windows and doors. Living by LAX, 2 blocks away, I had the ugly retrofitted doublepaned windows LAX gave to us in the 90’s and an aluminum patio slider that probably peaked asthetically never, and neither did much to reduce the airport noise.

A friend of mine recently replaced their windows and recommended South Bay Door & Window.

I called and spoke with Marci, she was really helpful and was able to coordinate scheduling and the estimate. The owner himself came out and did the measurements, he talked to me briefly about what my best options were and then suggested I come down to the showroom to check out what they had. Knowing I had a limited budget for what I needed (double paned isn’t cheap), the owner walked me through what kind of windows would keep the noise out but gave me a range of prices to choose from. About a month later, Dan and Rick came out for the installation and were really nice, I have 3 barky dogs they were very patient with and careful to work around. The owner stopped by during the installation to check on the job and make sure I was happy, which I appreciated. I guess when LAX or whoever last updated the windows installed the old ones they did a patchwork job of it and it made things a little more difficult but Dan and Rick didn’t complain. As a very nice bonus, they knew I was planning on replacing my ugly security screen door so they took it off and hauled it away for me.
As a single woman homeowner, it’s important to me that I can trust not only the quality of service and product, but who I let into my home. From the jump this place was not only professional but made me feel comfortable allowing them into my house. They were always respectful and I would absolutely use them again in the future.

I really want to give them a better rating as the people that work there are local and very nice, but when it came to their actually service — I can’t recommend them.
We were delayed on our build for over 2 weeks because of window issues. At the end of the day, SBD&W or their window rep was not very responsive… SBD&W tried to a degree. But we had to call Milgard to find out what was going on. No call back from SBD&W… nada.
In addition, there was a mistake on the ordering. I say ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ fault. Verbally we asked for 1 thing and had agreement with the rep, they wrote up, sent to us for approval… our bad for not catching the mistake. No discount, nada — we paid for the extra window. k — I can see the issue.
When they dropped off the doors, their delivery person dropped one. It had a dent and we debated — should we return for «fixing» — but given the delay we had with the windows — the raining season upon us, etc. — we opted to fix ourselves. If you spend over $ 8k with a company, service standard should be a little higher.
