California Kids Gymnastics

My son LOVED coach Steve, and gained so much confidence out of the program. We were there for two years. I was so impressed with Coach Steve’s ability to mix in fun while having the kids get a good workout. He keeps the place clean, organized, and is strict with his rules regarding tardiness and withdrawing from the school. However, he also clearly communicates his expectations and one can’t help but recognize that sometimes the parents are the people who need to learn about rules. But more importantly, the kids love learning from him. We are moving back to California soon, and I can’t wait to enroll my other two children. I am looking forward to more years at California Kid’s Gymnastics!

I agree with Susan, you either love Coach Steve or not! Both of my girls have had gymnastics with Coach Steve since they were two and we love him. He was very caring, supportive. My girls have past the age limit but if he had an older program we would have never stopped going. He always had an active, interesting developmentally appropriate program. Our family enjoyed the Annual Big Show that Coach Steve puts on. This is where the kids get to showcase all of the wonderful gymnastics skills they are learning throughout the year.
Go check him out and see for yourself how wonderful this gym really is.

I have had negative experience with coach Steve and will not be going back to California Kids Gym. Also, one of the teachers, Wendy, was rough with my child and is impatient with the kids. Several months ago, I told Wendy that we will take a break and will call if we want to return. She was pushy and kept trying to sign us up right there and then after a month’s hiatus (for scheduling purposes we had to take a break), but I stood firm and told her that we cannot commit at that time and will call back if we want to come back. A couple of months later, Steve called and asked if we were coming back. I reiterated my conversation with Wendy and told him we still weren’t sure if we were coming back. He was adamant that Wendy never mentioned the conversation (thus implying that I was lying) and then told me we had to pay for a month’s tuition because we did not give him notice. I told him once again that I did tell Wendy and that we still weren’t sure if we’d come back. Steve then said that if we’re not going to pay the month’s fee, we need to look for another gym. I said gladly and hung up.
I am fine with being strict about coming to class on time and keeping some order in class with the kids, but his conduct is disgusting and out of line, and Wendy’s method has nothing to do with discipline and just plain impatience.
I would NEVER recommend this place to anybody (although we liked it at first because of its wide open space).

Coach Steve is very good with the children and offers varied, creative, and interesting activities for them. My three boys and I all LOVE California Kids and we LOVE Coach Steve!

Avoid «COACH STEVE!» He’s an asshole and I wouldn’t let my kids any where near him.
