Great facility, great coaching, and great people. I grew up training with Coach Paul, Melissa, Wayne, Tim, and Mark. I came in to this gym as a very un-​athletic teenager and the coaches here have helped shaped me into a strong, healthy, and disciplined individual both as an athlete and as a human being outside of athletics. The environment is very uplifting and welcoming. There is a family feeling when training at the Tosetti Institute of MMA and Fitness. They offer grappling, striking, Western Martial Arts and fitness. I have participated in submission grappling tournaments, varsity wrestling and have completed open-​water swims and triathlons because of the help and support from the coaches here. The instruction they provide is top notch.

Great people, great place. Very welcoming and ego-​free environment for training and betterment.

Melissa and Coach Paul provide the perfect atmosphere for learning and training. It is a great combination a challenging workout and some laughs. They are really nice and down to earth.

They usually have more then one class going on at the same time so you have plenty options .
The parking is great too.
I love the water, Its hella fresh and crisp.
Its soo refreshing and they have these cool lil cups too.
The cups are next to the trash tho so be careful you don’t knock em in ha.
They also have pretty coool huuuge dressing rooms and the bathroom is very clean.
They also have classes for kids, I highly suggest this place.

I’ve been training here for a few weeks, taking the grappling and striking classes. It is really a great gym! The instruction is top-​notch, everyone is friendly, and there is a good mix of ability from beginners to advanced. Most classes are fairly small which means a lot of personal attention from the instructor. I highly recommend trying it out!

I was a student at Tosetti Institute of MMA & Fitness for several months. Due to surgery, I had to take a break. I am returning to Tosetti soon. Due to their amazing customer service, persistent support and affordable membership, I do not want to go to any other MMA or Fitness gym.

PERSISTANT SUPPORT
Compared to other gyms, the sizes of the classes at Tosetti are relatively small (about 5 — 15 students each class session), which allows the teacher to provide more individual attention to their students.
AFFORDABLE MEMBERSHIP
Paul and Melissa work hard to price their classes at a reasonable rate. They have the option to set up the payment plan on a month-​to-​month basis, which attracted me because I did not want to set up a semi-​annual or annual contract that will pressure me to continue membership.

The facility is as top-​notch as it gets for what they train in. Probably about 4,000 square feet of matted space makes this a prime training environment for MMA, Western Martial Arts and very comfortable for fitness classes of all types. Melissa is an experienced professional and Paul is recognized expert in his field. Give ‘em a try and you won’t be sorry!

I can’t recommend this place enough. Melissa and Paul Tosetti go out of their way to establish a warm, welcoming atmosphere in their gym. Whether you are there for general fitness, MMA or Western MMA (swordfighting), they offer expert, personalized, intense training. I take the fitness classes there, and love how each workout is different so you don’t get bored.
I used to participate in various martial arts, but because of physical issues, I can’t do full-​contact sports anymore. So I like the fact that the workouts incorporate real martial arts instruction. And the instructors get your heart pumping every time.

I have been to many gyms over the years. Many. And Tosetti Institute of MMA & Fitness is by far the most personal experience I’ve ever had! I’m not «into» MMA and I still benefit greatly from it.
As highly trained martial arts instructors and owners of the Institute, both Melissa and Paul are awesome teachers! They really care about their students and take a personal interest in their progress. All the teachers that work for them are also very knowledgable and fun. I haven’t had a «boring» class yet!
This is a great place if you want to take your fitness to the next level and/​or learn new MMA skills. It’s also great if you have kids interested in Martial Arts or simply want to provide them an activity that breeds confidence and increases their fitness level.
Not sure if the Institute is for you? If you are on the Peninsula for work or because you live here, go take a free class and see for yourself. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

I’ve been going here for just over 7 months and I highly recommend them.
I mostly take the FIT classes with coach Melissa and sometimes the Basic Striking class with coach Paul.
The atmosphere is very up beat and good humored. For the FIT classes, the Third Grade Recess and Muscle Confusion concepts result in workouts that are always varied and a lot of fun. An hour flies by very quickly. If you get bored at a traditional gym, you have to try this.
I like that the coaches will adjust the exercises to individual skill levels and also to accommodate any injuries. They also do the classes with you, so they know how tired you are and when to push. The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable about fitness and MMA skills, plus they have a passion for sharing that knowledge with the students. I can tell they enjoy teaching and seeing the students improve.
Aside from the coaches, what really makes the place special are the fellow students. I get the impression everyone is there to improve themselves; to learn, get in better shape and hone their skills. I don’t see any egos. Everyone is friendly and eager to encourage one another.
Within the students there is a range of skill and fitness levels. There are relative beginners like me all the way up to competitors in local MMA tournaments.
You can take it as far as you want to go, with no pressure, but lots of help and encouragement.

This is a wonderful gym. The Tosettis are friendly, competent, and work very hard for their students. I have also found that *all* the training partners I have gotten to know have been competent, focused, friendly, and good. There is nobody with whom I do not want to train, which is a first.
Paul and Melissa have had experience with a variety of martial arts so when teaching a given technique they are able to communicate in terms with which I am familiar, be it a Japanese, BJJ, or collegiate wrestling term, and then almost every single time, teach me something new about a technique I thought I had mastered a long time ago. Their breadth helps me to learn quickly from them.
I am also impressed by how practical their take is on martial arts. They do not fuss over silly pseudo-​traditional ceremony. Instead, they focus on being effective and, having applied many of the skills they teach in my days as a bouncer, I can vouch for the effectiveness of both the skillset they teach as well as the training methods.
In the past twenty years I have trained at a variety of towns and martial arts gyms and my partners have included Green Berets, Rangers, Pararescuemen, SEALs, Abu Dhabi BJJ champions, Olympic Judokas, and UFC fighters. I wish I had enjoyed the opportunity to start with (and stay with) the Tosettis. I would have gladly fought under their colors.
The Western Martial Arts is also excellent. Paul’s teaching is deliberate, organized, and progresses from something simple into a more complex application by the end of the hour. His broad background also allows him to map fencing concepts to unarmed martial arts concepts which further expedites a student’s learning.
And finally, the best part of this gym is their family friendliness. I love bringing my 5 year old and showing her the weapons and training tools. Paul and Melissa strike a perfect balance between minding safety and letting a kid and her imagination blossom.
I highly recommend them for anyone who wishes to learn very sound submission/​catch wrestling (or no-​gi grappling), striking, and/​or Western Martial Arts, as well as doing gut-​busting conditioning classes. This gym and this family are real treasures. Don’t miss out.

I have been training under coaches Paul, Melissa, Mark, Wayne and Tim for the past 1 year or so. Style of training here is detailed yet fun at the same time. This is a truly mufti-​faceted fitness /​martial arts training gym .
I think one of the few gyms which have mma, kungfu, western martial arts, cardio and general fitness programs going on side by side at such a level .
All the coaches are very receptive and quickly gauge the level of skill, fitness and adjust to the individual and suggest a lot of variations .
I have found 100% of the training partners to be polite and accommodating.
And last but not the least they also have good insights on diet and lifestyle which should be part of any fitness regimen.
This a good place for all levels and age groups !

I heart Coach Melissa.
I never thought I’d say those words about a coach but it’s true! Coach Melissa is one of the best coaches around and for someone who loathes working out, that’s saying a lot.
For those who know me personally, getting me to move my carcass is almost impossible. Not with Coach Melissa. She doesn’t have the «You WILL perform like a champion!!!» demeanor but is firm yet motivating in the Fitness Intensity Training class. The class is «martial arts based and influenced by Pilates, Yoga, Bootcamp and 2^nd grade recess.» And yes, you get recess flashbacks which is a good thing!
I especially love kicking and beating the crap out of «Bob,» their boxing dummie (s). Fastest way to get toned and trimmed arms, and if you’re stressed out from work/​life, it helps to imagine someone’s face in lieu of Bob’s :D
My body literally changed in a matter of weeks, — I’ve never thinned out like that before in all my years of working out at other gyms.
If you’re looking for a place that provides support for your health and weight loss goals, Tosetti Institute of MMA & Fitness is the place to go.

I’ve been attending classes for the past six months (mostly striking, but some kung fu and general fitness classes as well) and absolutely love it. I never thought I could have so much fun punching and kicking – it’s addictive!
Don’t let lack of experience keep you away; when I first showed up, I had never donned gloves, thrown a punch, or kicked anything. I learn something (s) new every time I go. The coaches each have their own style, but they are all wonderful with introducing new skills and helping you fit the pieces together to get your body to do cool stuff. :-)
Bonuses:
1) I was already an active, fit person, but my general cardio fitness has also improved; I have noticed that I can run longer and at a quicker pace now.
2) My arms are noticeably more cut now (in a good way, not a scary/​bulky kind of way). Yay strong girl-​arms!

I’ve been working with Coach Paul and Coach Melissa for several years now. The school is welcoming, down to earth and results oriented. The variety of skills taught is also very nice. (I see some of the other classes, but have not partaken.)
Additionally, I’ve had some private lessons with Coach Paul that I’ve found very rewarding.

I’ve been training with Paul and Melissa for four years now, but from day one it was clear to me that they’ve created a very special place. The students are a diverse and welcoming group with an even mix of men and women and a broad range of ages. (The school also offers separate instruction for kids.) Classes are small and personal, which allows the instructors to cater to individual skill levels. The coaches are supportive, knowledgeable and down-​to-​earth, and Paul the head instructor has a particularly impressive breadth and depth of martial arts experience.
The gym offers four broad programs with very distinct flavors. Fitness classes are a mélange of cardio kickboxing, resistance training and stretching. Mixed martial arts instruction includes separate classes focusing on UFC-​style striking, grappling and takedowns. Kung Fu offers a traditional focus on forms, discipline, strength and balance. And the unique WMA program teaches Western European weapon fighting from a practical, historical context.
If you are looking to lose weight with a program you’ll actually stick to, if you want to learn self defense in a safe environment, if you’re interested in historical sword fighting, or if you just want a great workout, Tosetti Institute of MMA and Fitness is definitely worth a look. Prospective students are encouraged to try out free classes to check out the gym, and the owners don’t lock you into year-​long contracts like a lot of big gyms do.

Amazing Amazing Amazing.
They make you sweat till you drop which is fun for me! :). All the trainers are super knowledgeable and super friendly. They also work with you on a personal basis if you have certain goal set (eg: weight loss) and help you towards achieving it. The classes are never repetitive. They have fight days and other competitions organized every now and then where you can test your capabilities and challenge yourself.
Coach Paul and Melissa also conduct seminars on many topics such as grappling, sword fighting etc which is free for all the current students and is also available to the outsiders for a nominal fee.
Overall, what i really like about the gym is the constant encouragement and support provided by your peers and trainers along with fun filled sweat dripping grueling workout.
A must go for !!! :)

If you are looking for a fantastic gym with a great fitness or Mixed Martial Art program, you will not be able to do better than this. If you are looking for something less conventional, Tosetti’s also has the hands-​down best Western Martial Art (Renaissance longsword, sidesword, polearm, dagger) program in the Bay Area.
The gym itself is large and clean. The instructors are incredibly knowledgable, friendly and superb instructors to boot — a valuable plus given that expertise does not necessarily equal skill at teaching.
You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been learning under coach Paul for the last 5 years and it’s been worth every second. Originally, I came into the gym with the intent to lose some weight and generally become more fit. Somewhere along the line, I became… addicted. Addicted to fitness, addicted to a better diet and addicted to MMA. In fact, just last year, I stepped into the cage and participated in my first amateur MMA fight.
Even if you have no intent of fighting, I highly recommend coming here for your fitness, weight loss and get-​ripped needs. Paul and Melissa are truly caring people and they will cater the instruction and classes to suit your taste.
