History

Established in 1979.

The One-​to-​One Tutoring Service has been serving Palo Alto and the surrounding communities on the Peninsula for 36 years. We have always been locally owned and operated. We have helped hundreds of students achieve their academic goals. As of July 2015, the service will focus on math and science tutoring, the owner’s (Tim Gasser) specialties. He still is in contact with the tutors who have worked for the service previously, so he can refer clients to other tutors if they need tutoring for other subjects such as English, foreign languages, and other subjects.

Business Owner

Tim started as a tutor with the One-​to-​One Tutoring Service in 1982. He took over running the service in 1999. He has a BA in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, an MS in environmental studies from San Jose State, and a single subject teaching credential in math and chemistry. Besides his many years of tutoring experience, he taught at private schools for 10 years and has been a substitute teacher in the Palo Alto School District and other local districts for many years. He has tutored hundreds of students since 1982, mainly in math and chemistry.
