Peninsula Covenant Preschool

My daughter is in the Preschool class at Peninsula Covenant Preschool. It is the perfect balance of whole child development; social, emotional, physical, and academic. The teachers are extremely knowledgeable and in tune with this age group and are truly the utmost professionals and experts in their craft. The leadership and staff of Peninsula Covenant Preschool have the grandest hearts and care deeply about each family. We are so glad our daughter has had the opportunity to grow in this space. It’s not just a school it’s a family!

We moved to San Carlos last May from SF. We chose to send our three-​year-​old daughter to PCC Preschool, because of its amazing teachers and history of providing a safe-​haven where small children are encouraged to play, grow and learn at their age-​level. What we couldn’t have known was how deeply PCC would bless our entire family. The kindness and inclusiveness of the PCC community is unmatched. Many of the families have become some of our closest friends here on the Peninsula. If I could give this precious school 10 stars I would.

I can’t say enough about PCC Preschool! Both of my daughters are currently attending school there and we have all truly enjoyed the whole experience. One is in the Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program, and the other is in the 3 year old class (2 mornings a week). This is our 3^rd year being a part of the program in some way.
Both of my girls are genuinely excited to go to school each day, which is due to many factors. The friendly, warm teaching staff is led by Terry Boudreau, a teacher and educator with years and years of experience working with children. She is kind, wise, easy to talk to, responsible, generous with her time, and has a great sense of humor.
Each person on her talented teaching staff expresses a sincere interest in each of the children. I have seen it first hand many times! They are calm, peaceful teachers who use positive and clear communication to direct and redirect behavior. The kids learn primarily through play — — in creative ways that change each week! They always have a Free Choice time that begins the morning, with a big variety of options to choose from. One week there is a pizza restaurant set up, the next week it’s a horse stable, the next week it is a post office… always changing. There are always «science» corners as well, and places to read quietly. There is a large art room, with multiple opportunities for crafts and art and even cooking. There is a large group Music time daily, followed by Small group time, where the children have snack time, and work on a short project, such as their letters, handwriting, small motor development, listening to directions, etc.
The day ends with play time outside on their HUGE playground set amonghts the trees, and next to a gurgling stream. It is so peaceful! I feel like it the best kept secret on the Peninsula, and just can’t recommend them enough!

With several years of PCC Preschooling behind us (and more years ahead of us), I can wholeheartedly recommend this preschool to anyone who is looking for a warm, loving, creative environment that will allow your child to thrive!
My two children who have completed their program enter kindergarten with confidence, knowing how to hold a pencil properly, cut with scissors, know names and sounds of letters, understanding numbers and calendar, and so much more.
Preschool days begin with free play where the children are allowed to roam from room to room (each room closely supervised by at least one teacher). The rooms are set up with different stations, from science to building to imaginative play to creative play and exploration. After free play and music time, the children go into their smaller groups for snack, stories and more structured learning time. Here, they are encouraged to interact and cooperate with the rest of their group through leading and serving each other.
The playground is unlike any other playground I have seen. Paved paths through shady tree groves, a wonderful wooden structure with slides, swings, a wobble bridge, sand, water. A beautiful place for your child to run, hide, explore, pretend, laugh and play with friends.
PCC Preschool is a gem in Redwood City. I am continually thankful for the skills they have taught my children — conflict resolution, communication, expressing feelings with words. Not only that, but Director Terry Boudreau is always available to brainstorm behavioral issues we experience at home and to equip me to better handle those situations.
Finally, the school’s communication with parents is outstanding. They are easy to reach by phone or email or just popping into the office. Mid-​year parent/​teacher conference gives you a chance to see how your child has developed and discuss individual goals for the remainder of the year. My favorite time is the «parent participation» days twice a year. This is a chance to get to hang out with your child for the day, to experience preschool through their eyes. Nothing is required of you during this time… just BE with your child and have a good time.
Could not love this place more than I already do!

Wonderful preschool! The best parts; 1. The well thought out «stations» that are set up for the kids to choose where to play each day. The stations always change. example — a restaurant, a clothing store, always changing craft stations, pvc pipe building… I could go on and on! 2. The playgrounds are amazing — huge, in the trees! Love this place!

I cannot say enough about this fabulous preschool. The teachers and the director really LOVE your kids. It is sweet, well-​thought out, and totally priced reasonably. The playground is BIG and woodsy and indoor spaces are changing all the time to keep the kids engaged. My daughter looks forward to preschool days and has developed great friendships through the program. There are two days during the school year that are your «parent participation» days, and you really get to see the tender and wise ways this program is run. I recommend this school to all of my friends!
