Found my new go to mechanic shop. I really appreciate the thoroughness and honesty of these guys. I am not a mechanic by any means, and many places in the past would try and slip something by me, but these guys are really upfront and will tell you everything about your car, but tell you when something is really urgent, or if it might be something that can be dealt with down the road. So far I’ve had my radiator fixed and my cat-​converter changed. These guys have very fair prices and good mechanics.

I had failed my smog test (for the first time) at Whipple Auto. They spent a lot of time trying to diagnose the problem, and even took it to the dealer to make sure the diagnosis is correct (and not a computer glitch). After they found out it was the catalytic converter, they took it to the muffler shop for me and drove it around the next day to save me time. The price the muffler shop quoted me was amazingly good.
They drove me back and forth from work so many times that I lost count! I really appreciate all of your service! I’ll definitely come back again. Thanks!

I needed a smog a couple of years ago so this is where I went. Ali was very nice and the shop was extremely clean. The entire process was super quick and I was out of there with no hassles. I then recommended this place to a few friends and they all were extremely satisfied. So here its been a couple of years and time for another smog. So I went back last week and was just as pleased as I was the first time. Thank you Ali for the great customer service, I’ll see you in 2 years! I highly recommend this place.

The boss is a kind man who quoted a reasonable price while other shops asked for too much and you need to bargain with and its too much trouble. the service was satisfying too, i’ll defintely recommend my friends to come over this shop.

These guys are great! Ali and Hamid are both very friendly and nice, with a real desire to help you with your car troubles. I have only used them for smog tests so far, but hope to go to them with other car maintenance needs in the future. Recently, my car failed one aspect of the smog test, and they were able to do the repair right away, which ultimately led to a successful test result (and a very happy customer).

Times are wrong on the website and Unilocal.This place opens at 9 not 8. Wasted half an hour and ended up having to pay $ 28 more at the speedee down the road before my dmv apt. Yes, maybe I should have given myself a little leeway but due to the good reviews and the timing I didn’t think I had to.

Great service and the best price. Such nice people that going for a smog test doesn’t feel mundane anymore. Best price is with coupon on their website. I’m new to the area, did not know about the online coupon but the guy who helped me told me about it and gave me the discount. You can simply present the coupon on your mobile if it’s not printed. Save paper too :)

Ali came recommended by a friend, I was treated very nicely. Got a super fast appointment and the smog test was done expertly and quickly. Some suggestions for other repairs were made– all at extremely reasonable prices and I walked out with a «Pass» certificate and more money leftover than I had anticipated. I’ll be coming here for repairs! Thanks, Ali (and my friend Amber for recommending them!) I even sent my Parent’s and they were treated just as well as I was.

Went here for a smog check yesterday and failed with nearly double the passing amount of one of the categories. I’m not giving them one star because I failed the test, in fact they were super eager to let me know that they’d be happy to inspect the car and perform any necessary repairs. How convenient!
Got a second smog test today somewhere else (a testing only place, no associated mechanic services) and the same category came in under the passing amount by 90%.
You do the math.

I headed here for a smog check today after reading Unilocal reviews. The guy who helped me was super nice, and tested my car right away. He even gave me a $ 30 discount I hadn’t known to print out, so the total came to $ 38.

After calling to see if I could get a smog check done today, I drove to The station and was greeted with a friendly smile. He got right down to business and completed the check within 15 minutes. Worked for me! I was even allowed to go inside where it was warm, since it was so chilly outside. Thanks for the great service and fast turnaround. I will definitely tell my friends.

Came here recently for the required smog that we all love to have done so much. Not! I visited Whipple Smog’s website and printed out their coupon for a smog and certificate. Comparing it to other prices and specials around Redwood City, Whipple Smog had the best price with the coupon.
I called before heading down to confirm someone was there to do a smog (their website advertises «no appointment necessary»). I spoke with a polite gentleman on the phone and he said to come on down. I showed up and spoke with Ali. I was going to be third in line, but he said it shouldn’t be a long wait. He was right… I waited about 20 minutes until it was my turn and was finished with everything in record time.
Ali was super friendly and easy to speak with throughout the whole process which was appreciated. Nobody likes going to have a smog done, so when the person you deal with is friendly and professional that means a lot. I would 100% recommend people to go to Whipple Smog (don’t forget your coupon from their website) and see Ali.

As the reviews below state, it is located at the Valero Gas Station but is also very clearly marked that they do Smog Checks (easy to find). The gentleman working was a really nice fellow and had me in an out in 15minutes! One of the better experiences I have had dealing with my car — thanks!

I didn’t know I needed a Smog test in order to register my just over a year old car in California, but the DMV wouldn’t issue me a registration without it. Instead of going home to return to the DMV another day I found Whipple Smog Test.
They are conveniently located near the Redwood City DMV. They are actually in the Valero Gas Station. The owner was polite and professional and explained that it should only take about 15 to 20 minutes. He got me on my way and ready to head back to the DMV in no time. If only my DMV experience was this friendly and courteous.

I took my car to this station for smog check, Ali is a professional who knows what his is doing. It took 20 min and I was done. Ali’s very nice guy!

This place is a 5 star smog test shop! The guy is really friendly and gets the job done real good. His prices are great and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Came out the door with a smog certificate and a big smile! Very recommended!
Ps. It’s at a Valero Gas Station near 101 and it’s not hard to find at all. Great location.

Even though it’s a Valero, Unilocal keeps calling it Whipple Smog Test Only; I know that’s not true, because I fill up my tank here on a regular basis. (I never had smog checked here).
Four stars for convenience. Minus one for getting approached more than once by a staff member trying to demo and sell me (and others) a windshield patching kit to fill the tiniest flecks in my windshield. I didn’t even notice the flecks before, so I think I’m OK, thanks.
