I will always have warm feelings towards this place because my now-husband and I had our first date there. Sentiments aside, their ice cream is heavenly. The Black Raspberry is the best. Prices are good, too. Cheaper than Baskin Robbins — you get 2 scoops for 4.95, not 5.50.

This place is so cute! We were having dinner downtown two weeks ago and decided to stop by this place for some ice cream. It was very quiet, I also liked that this was much more than an ice cream shop. They have so many little cute things to look at and for purchase. We got to the ice cream and it was such a hard decision because they had so many delicious flavors! Ended up going with the paraline and it was to die for! We will definitely be back. :)

Love the place, wish they didn’t close earlier than the scheduled time though. Usually locked up 5 – 10 minutes before actual closing time

It’s a big shop full of «stuff». Ice cream is fair, not sure I’d call it a candy shop, but there is some candy there. It’s mostly a thousand stuffed animals with giant sparkle bug eyes staring you in the face screaming«buy me, buy me.» So of course I ended up with a bug eyed seal, a mini mouse, two ring pops, and a scoop of ice cream for me.(17 $ spent) Everyone left happy, so I can’t really fault the place. I’m sure it will be on my kids list of their favorite spots and a place I try not to walk past.

Pros: Great ice cream Friendly staff Reasonably priced ice cream and candy Adorable little toys for the kids! Cons: VERY unreasonably priced toys. No bathrooms Not a lot of seating options Now, this is a pretty good place, I love it and go there every time I want ice cream. And I get that the whole bathroom thing is because of the space and so is the seating problem, but the toys thing is really annoying.

Great ice cream. Not the best I’ve had, but the peanut butter chocolate and black raspberry flavored in a waffle cone was fantastic. A bit expensive compared to a gelato, which is the best tasting ice cream. Two scoop ice cream in a waffle cone can run about five bucks. Still, I do enjoy the softness of the flavor a and service was fine. Credit cards are taken and there is inside seating if the weather is not nice, which is rare for Redwood City. I haven’t looked around for the candy stuff, so I cannot comment on that. Overall: Great ice cream, Great service, Good price

Cute ice cream parlor with knick knacks, specialty candies, novelty candies and toys for kids and kids at heart. Ice cream was decent but not cold enough for me. Still yummy but I like my ice cream a bit harder in texture. Cool area and seating outside, limited inside seating/tables. Better to take it to go and stroll the neighborhood.

I wandered into this shop after dinner, thinking it was a toy store because the displays as seen from the sidewalk are stuffed animals. Upon walking in, I noticed candy displays with candy that looked old and discolored. Walking further in, I found myself dodging crowded tables and racks of cheap looking stuffed toys(ones you’d win at a carnival) and ice cream stained books and cards until finally coming to the ice cream freezer cases in the back. On one of the freezer cases there was an old, curled paper sign which said something along the lines of, «Bring a $ 50 or $ 100 bill to an ice cream and candy store, what were you thinking? Any bills larger than $ 20 and we’ll provide change in the form of a gift card only.» What a lack of customer service to post such a sign, that cash in small bills is the only type of cash worthy to them. I had seen enough and promptly walked out.

Great place for ice cream while strolling through downtown Redwood City. I ordered the 3 scoop sundae. Love their mocha almond fudge. Tyler was very nice and helpful.

I’m not sure why the ratings aren’t that high. I thought the ice cream I got was pretty good. I got a single scoop of cookies and cream, and it was a very hefty scoop. The ice cream is a bit gummy(but not in a bad way) — I quite liked it and would definitely eat it again. They also take credit cards(except American Express). The atmosphere of the shop is quite cute. It feels like an old school candy shop.

Being new to the area, I went here for Easter with my fiancé to help fulfill her Easter tradition of enjoying some delicious chocolate bunnies and eggs. Being that this is the only dedicated dessert destination in the area — filled with sweats of all kinds, I was certain Young’s would do the trick! We were very surprised that a chocolate and ice cream shop would have such a small Easter sweats selection, but we made due with the ONLY two types of Easter chocolates available in the entire candy store; an Easter egg in a basket and a chocolate bunny in a bag. With all that being said… You wouldn’t believe my fiancé and I’s shock when we went home to enjoy her Easter tradition only to learn that the Easter egg was made of soap, and the bunny was a wax candle! WHOTHEHECKSELLSEASTERSOAPANDCANDLESANDNOCHOCOLATEAT A DESSERTSHOP??? We’re never going back

Super cute ice cream parlor! Perfect place for kids– ice cream, candy, toys– what more could a kid ask for? Even adults enjoy it :)

Walking into this place is a time capsule back to the days of old fashioned candy and ice cream shops. I enjoy looking at every little toy and knock knack in here. I don’t buy the candy since I’m not a huge fan of copious amounts purchased by weight but I still enjoy the atmosphere. It is a bit pricey– we got two cones of ice cream for almost $ 8! This is not my frequent go to stop for ice cream but when I’m in the area on a date with the wifey or out with a friend, I may stop in for a cone.

This ice cream parlor feels like a step back in time. A time when I dunno, they had ice cream parlors that were not Coldstone or Baskin Robbins. It’s the perfect place to bring a kid you’re looking to reward with ice cream because it’s also a candy and toy store.

I was suffering from another ice cream craving and was going towards Redwood City and saw this place so I decided to stop in and give it a try and them carrying Loard’s ice cream had a big influence on me coming here. Interior: Walking in and seeing all of the stuffed animals, the way it was set-up, the candy and chocolate case in the front all made it feel very nostalgic and I liked that. There carried a lot of the candy I used to eat in my childhood, the place had a childhood feel to it. Customer Service: When I walked in and walked up to the ice cream counter I was not greeted, the girl was too busy talking to her friends and giving them free candy. Once the left I still was not greeted and she helped people that came after be before helping me which made me want to turn around and walk out but I wanted the ice cream too bad. Once she helped me there still wasn’t much of a greeting, I looked at the menu and noticed all the flavors and proceeded to order a toasted almond ice cream sundae and was rudely told they didn’t have that. It should not be on the menu if they don’t carry it. Ice Cream: I opted for butterscotch marble ice cream after 2 failed attempts at wanting to get other flavors that were on the menu that they did not have. When she made my sundae she put the smallest scoop of ice cream in there and put the caramel at the bottom instead of the top smh. The ice cream was good only because it was Loard’s I just wish the sundae would have been made correctly especially for the price I paid. Overall I would not come back because the prices are a bit high, customer service was not good at all and that overrides the ice cream being good because if I don’t feel like a valued customer then why should I spend my money here. Save your time and money and go to Queen Bee Ice Cream instead.

Just had the double Dutch Ice cream and couldn’t wait to review it. Absolutely amazing ice cream, fresh waffle cones, and caring staff. Cute place, pretty big, although there are more toys and what not instead of candy. Still, plenty of candy to choose from, and truffles and chocolate delicacies. Two thumbs up!

In a word: Disappointing. When I visited here everything seemed old and doesn’t appear this place gets much business. Browsing the Ice Cream display over 50% of the tubs had Ice crystals and freezer burn and the display of Chocolates were not appealing to they eye either as many of them were white like had melted and been refrigerated. On the plus side they do have acute selection of Hello Kitty items but as far as an Ice Cream Candy store I would say go elsewhere.

There’s not much competition in Redwood City in terms of ice cream parlors, so I’ve visited Young’s once or twice. The ice cream is average at best. I like this place just because it’s unique and reminiscent of olden days when kids used to frequent sweet shops that doubled as toy stores. But every time I come here it’s just kind of sad because it’s void of kids – or any customers at all, even in 95 degree weather. Oh, but I did find the Zebra gum from my childhood here! The one that has temporary tattoos on the wrappers and flavor lasts like 5 seconds? Yeeeaaaahh you know what I’m talkin bout.

Absolutely terrible service. The employees were all in the back right hand corner of the store just talking to each other. No one greeted or even made eye contact with my girlfriend and I. Also, tell me I’m blind but I could not find fudge for the life of me. What kind of candy store does not have fudge! The dining area was unkept(empty used bowls and cups all over the tables/bar) If you would like to go to real candy store with good customer service go to Powell’s in Willow Glen. Also, the employees were texting and my girlfriend had to wait a good 5 – 10 minutes for them to help her at the register even though there was literally nobody else in the store(I wonder why). I don’t usually write bad reviews, but seriously, this place sucks.

The sell Loard’s Ice Cream from San Leandro: It’s very creamy, as if it’s made from half-n-half. I got a cookies and cream waffle cone. It was OK, but a little too melty, and the flavor didn’t have anything distinctive about it. not recommended.
