Quality Inn & Suites Rehoboth Beach – Dewey

Place is old, tired and WAY OVER PRICED … staff tries, but it’s hard to spit shine some things … go elsewhere if you can …

We were a group of 4 so we decided to opt for one of the suite rooms (2 queens /​1 king). For $ 220 bucks, it was certainly a good value given the size of the space. Perfect for a family of 4 or more. The room was simple, but it was clean and it had a nice size refrigerator. We had multiple cars and it seemed like parking was tight so they asked if we would park on the grass area near the end of the hotel. Not a big deal really.
Overall, I didn’t think it was a bad deal. A short drive (or walk) to the beach and the boardwalk in Rehoboth. Convenient liquor store right next door.

G’day–
A few of mi mates and me wondered over this koala hole on ‘oliday to drink some bevvies and cluck at a couple o’ sheilas. It was a right cracking time and the lassie in reception gave the big guy plenty o’ coffe. My complaint is that the room smelled like an old wallabe who died in the outback. Crikey!

The facility is decent but the customer service was horrendous. My GF left her laptop in her room after check out and called back to find out it was gone. Seems to us that the hotel staff took it as they seemed have no sense of urgency about the manner. Still three days and a police report later. No laptop.

Totally baffled by the bad reviews that appear here, except they are mostly more than a year old and perhaps the ownership took them to heart. We stayed here as part of a band performing at the Rehoboth Jazz Festival in October 2014, so it was off season. The venue booked the hotel for us. The room was spacious and clean and included a sitting area. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfast, described as ‘continental’ in the literature, was very good: the usual continental breakast fare plus eggs and sausage if desired. As it was offseason, parking was no problem.
The only reason it doesn’t get a 5 is that we did experience the wifi issues described by others. Still highly recommend this hotel.

Overall, our experience was good and the hotel delivered value for the price. The bed was comfortable and clean. Some picky points (not deal-​killers):
The WIFI was awful. Too many users, not enough bandwidth. I ended up having to pay to use my own personal mobile data service during the stay. Our bathroom was clean overall but not perfect — we found cherry pits and stems from a previous guest on the pile of supposedly clean towels on top of the towel rack. The shower water pressure was extremely low and there wasn’t much hot water on Sunday morning.
Breakfast was probably my biggest complaint. You get what you pay for; free means don’t expect much. The food selections were marginally appropriate but featured too much fat and sugar. My main complaint about it was that the serving area was too small (leading to extreme crowding) and the breakfast room absolutely needs more seating. There were tons of empty space but long lines for the small number of tables and chairs available.

Part of this is my fault.
Husband and I were just so busy last spring that we didn’t get around to really planning our vacation until June. So by that time, most anywhere we would have preferred to be was booked or just way too expensive. It was the only place that was not a motel and under $ 200 a night.
Let me tell you– it is a crime they get away with charging that much for what they’re giving you. Look, it was excessively unclean or smelly. The whole place just feels so… run down. Terrible wallpaper peeling. Old, bad furniture. Like they opened it 25 years ago and haven’t changed anything since. Even the looby is uninviting: there’s a big TV in the middle with a few sofas around it (made to look like a living room, I guess) and if you’re waiting for someone, you go to sit down and once you get a closer look at the sofas, they look like someone pulled them out of a musty prop closet. With tons of weird gross pillows. So, no. I’ll wait outside, thanks.
And the wifi. Sigh. Nothing about it in the heavily written-​in hotel book in our room. Actually, there was, but we each had to look through the book twice to find it. I called the front desk and she says «it’s the code I wrote on your key sleeve?» Oh, you mean the 6-​digit number you said nothing about when you checked us in? Ok. The signal was weak and we had to keep re-​logging in because it would lose connection without any warning. And our devices wouldn’t just switch back to mobile service– the wifi signal would look strong, but we’d have to open a browser and see if we could coax the wifi log in page back.
The breakfast. So sad. The only protein to be had was some strange sausage and egg patties.
This was such a disappointment coming off our awesome Kimpton experience in DC during the same vacation.
Next time we visit the area, we will be sure to book way in advance!

If you want a hotel with friendly staff and service, beach access, an outdoor pool, and a walkable distance to Dewey bars or Rehobeth attractions, do NOT choose this one. First and foremost, the front desk staff is awful. They do not use the policy ‘the customer is always right’, in fact, the front desk staff blamed me for a mix up at check-​in resulting in 2 rooms being charged to my card (when I only used one), and an extra fee of $ 100 for extra persons staying in the room. How did they know that there were extra people in the room? The maids made a head count in the morning when they knocked for ‘housekeeping’. My privacy was violated at this hotel, and I would not feel safe leaving any belongings behind. The hotel is about a mile and a half away from the beach, with a confusing walk through back roads and across a busy highway road, so forget leaving your car at the hotel and walking to the beach, and good luck finding parking in Dewey. This is NOT the place to go for a carefree beach weekend, so take caution if you do have a room reserved, you may end up spending the days thereafter making phone calls, trying to get your money back, and writing mean reviews.

Our room smelled bad — very musty. Telephone flashed a message light that we couldn’t get turned off, nor could the front desk — they told us to put a towel over it. We were put in a handicapped-​access room, and as the bathroom door was very difficult to open once closed and the front door had to be closed several times before it would lock, we were very glad we weren’t actually handicapped! Front desk wasn’t interested in our comments. Room really needed some care — wall paper was peeling in places. We had to leave A/​C on just to mitigate the smell. We expect more from Quality Inn. Liked the free wi-​fi, but had to constantly logon to it. Automatically dropped my phone after about 15 minutes. Price was moderate, not cheap, so expected a bit more than we got. Won’t stay here again.

This hotel is terrible. Staying here is akin to staying at a bad Super-​8.
The entire building smells and is worn and in need of updating. New carpets, furniture and upholstery are needed in the guest rooms.
Here is what didn’t work my room:
Telephone (no power, wiring in the wall was ripped out)
WiFi: there was a connection, but it was so weak it was useless
Electrical outlets:
*2 two-​banger outlet next to the desk and chair did not work. I could not charge my laptop and cell phone unless I unplugged the TV near the opposite side of the desk.
* Only one outlet in a 4-​banger near the entrance of the room was working. I had to unplug a light to plug in the iron. Thus, I couldn’t see what I was doing when I was ironing. I had to go around the room and turn on all of the lights to get enough ambient light to see what I was doing.
* Multiple outlets around the room didn’t work. Usually outlets were 2 o4 4 bangers. A guest has to check each outlet to ensure they work before using them.
Water:
Hot water was problematic. First, water pressure was strong when the water was cold. But invoking hot water resulted in a drop off in pressure.
I talked about all of these points with the gentleman at the front desk. He was apologetic, but didn’t offer to correct the problems. He explained the hotel has a hot water tank and that two teams were staying at the hotel during our stay. He believed this accounted for our water problem.
I told him the hotel needed a tankless hot water heater system. I have one in my house: it’s mind boggling that a hotel today does not have one.
I can’t imagine that the Quality Inn chain has any idea how bad this hotel is. If they did they would revoke the privilege of using their name.
I’ve stayed in dozens of Quality Inn hotels across the US and this is by far the worst one I have ever seen and the only one I have ever had to complain about.
Quality Inn should repay me for the money I lost staying at this place.

My family of three book this last minute. This was our first time visiting Rehoboth Beach area. The first room they tried to give us smelled of mildew! We returned to the front desk to complain and the staff person asked if I wanted air freshner! Which I declined. She then offered us another room which was an upgrade a king and queen sized bed. The room was huge but in need of updating. On an overall this hotel was decent. Indoor pool, decent common areas and free breakfast: eggs. waffles, cereal, yogurt. This hotel is walking distance from Dewey Beach. To get to Rehoboth you have drive about 15 minutes and then good lluck with finding parking. It’s definately not worth the asking price a whopping 259 per night. Better try to neogiate vice price line we booked for$ 100 per night.
