History
Established in 2008.
Fairly Grounded opened at the Lakeside Ct location in Mid 2008, and in August of 2010 we opened Fairly Grounded Too at 170 South Virginia street. Our goal is to provide our customers with delicious coffee and a comfortable environment to relax in. We now have an amazing roasting company (Water Ave Coffee) who roasts small batches of coffee for us once per week. We have shifted to a pour-over system to brew your coffee– a method that we believe delivers the freshest tasting coffee possible. Our menu has evolved as well, and now we make home made baked goods and soups and salads daily.
Meet the Business Owner
Julie D.
Business Owner
Julie Douglass has lived in the Reno area since 1979 and studied anthropology at UNR before receiving a doctorate in Social Anthropology from the University of California Davis. Rather than pursue an academic career, she chose to promote fairtrade practices, and she and her husband, William, opened Artisans Fairtrade in 2007. Because of her passion for excellent coffee and the absence of a fair trade coffee shop in Reno, Julie decided to open Fairly Grounded Coffee and Tea in 2008. Her hope is to share with her customers her passion for truly delicious coffee, as well as her dedication to fair trade and direct trade practices. In addition to being partners in business, Julie and William enjoy world travel, exploring other cultures as well as fly fishing in exotic places.
